Valentine's Day

This post is so way long over-due, but better late than never!

So, for Valentine's Day, I made Dave a personalized gift basket of love.  :o)  No worries, it's totally appropriate to share.  lol

I found a cool Volkswagen Bug chocolate mold, so I made some white chocolate and dark chocolate volkswagens.  (Dark chocolate is his favorite :o)

Aren't they yummy-looking?!  And so way perfect for Dave!

In order to get the sticks to fit in the mold, I had to cut them.  They were hollow, yet tough, plastic.  My scissors wouldn't cut them.  So I had to ask Dave for a wire cutter.  He knew I was working on his gift and looked pretty suspicious (and slightly nervous) when I asked for wire cutters.  lol  Who know it would take a tool from the garage to make some chocolate.  :o)

I also got a heart mold and made my own white and dark chocolate versions of Dove chocolates.

I wanted to make him homemade fortune cookies, but realized I had forgotten to get 1 essential ingredient...  Agh!  So, I had the thought to try it with paper.  (Thanks for making sure I inherited some of your creative genuisness, Mom!!!)  They turned out pretty cute.  I made a bunch of them.  Dave has actually told me multiple times since then that he really, really likes the paper fortune cookies.  Yay!  Plus side:  saves calories and they never go stale.  :o)

Oh, and I can't tell you what the fortunes said.  Some of them are pretty lovey dovey, mushy gushy!  ;o)

On Valentine's Day morning, I gave Dave this box with all the goodies in it.

He said he felt bad that he didn't have much, but I really didn't care.  Needless to say, he had a couple of surprises already up his sleeve.

Dave drove the 10 minutes to my work on his lunch break and we just hung out.  It was a very pleasant surprise!  While he was there, we spontaneously bought tickets to see the sneak peek of the new Reese Witherspoon movie "This Means War" that had a special Valentine's Day showing that night.  A couple of hours later, these showed up at my work.

My first long-stemmed red roses ever!!!  How romantically beautiful!  I was in shock and a tad ticked off because Dave must've spent a fortune on them!  We've been trying to do so well with sticking to our budget and I don't think these were part of it!  But, I'm grateful for a husband who loves me and just so happened to show part of that love by ordering me these amazing red roses!  They're still beautiful and it's been like 6 days!!!

The movie was cute and overall, we both enjoyed our Valentine's Day.  However, we both agree that we don't need a certain day on the calendar to tell us we love each other.  We celebrate our own Valentine's Days all the time.  It's wonderful!!!

I'm so grateful go be married to a handsome man who loves me and I love him just as much back!  It's also great to wake up every morning laying next to my best friend!  I love making memories with him and look forward to the memory-making forever and ever and ever!!!

Charm Bracelet

A couple of people have asked for a picture of this, so here it is.  Finally!

Dave and I spent a "Dave and Darah Day" in Helen, GA (northern Georgia) on March 27, 2010.  We hiked to a waterfall, walked the touristy "downtown" Helen, and then went engagement ring shopping on the way home.  :o)

You know what??  I'm pretty sure I blogged about this already.  Oh, yes!  Click here to refresh your memory for the significance of the charm bracelet.

Let me explain what each charm is for, starting with the hearts on the top-right.

double, joined hearts - This charm, and tons of identical charms, were used as part of the decorations at our wedding.

LSU - A few weeks before our wedding, Dave drove with Tamara and I to LSU in Baton Rouge, LA to pick up Bryan's stuff and bring it home for the summer.  What a great guy!

Liberty Bell - this was purchased on our trip to Philadelphia, PA a few months after we were married.

Pinecone - this is the original charm that was purchased on our first Dave & Darah Day.

Grand Piano - Dave picked this charm out on a double-date we went on with my parents this past December to see "A Christmas Carol" at the Alliance Theatre.  Dave made me a necklace using an identical charm, which he gave to me for Christmas.  :o)

Dolphin - On our 2nd Dave & Darah Day, we went to the GA Aquarium and I saw my first dolphin show ever.  It was great!

Trolly - This charm was purchased while we were in the North GA mountains on our honeymoon.  There was history with trolleys in that area, and Dave remembered that his mom had a trolley on her charm bracelet.

So, there you have it!

Kinda disappointed we never did get a charm when we went to Utah together a few months after we got married, but it's so way not the end of the world.  :o)

It was fun to compare charm bracelets with Dave's mom and sister, Gina, a few weeks ago.  If Carrie, Dave's other sister, had been there, she could have added hers to the comparison.  :o)  I feel like an official Wheeler woman now!
