Fish Babies Update :o)

Well, over the Christmas break, one of our fish gave birth to some tiny baby fish.  As with most platys who give birth, the mommy fish died.  :o(  We now only have 1 of our "original" fish left:  Nayteri, the silver mickey mouse platy.  I'm so grateful she's a survivor!  And, apparently not a love interest in the tank!  lol

Anyway, Dave rescued a few of the tiny babies and put them in the small tank.  Runt, the smallest fish from the first "litter" of fish, is still in the small tank with the new babies.  It's going to be an interesting day when the new babies get bigger than Runt.  lol

There are a couple of babies in the big tank that have survived so far.  Pretty hardy fish!

Only problem is, WE HAVE WAY TOO MANY FISH NOW!!!  We are concerned about overcrowding the tank, which is bad, but we don't want to just "get rid of" a handful of fish to make more room.  I do not like that idea at all!

One more fish story....  Dave was really sick for a couple of days last week.  He was feverish and very out of it, among other things.  One day after I got home from work, I went over to feed the fish.  Dave was on the couch across the room.  I noticed that one of the original babies had died.  I talked to Dave about it, but he remembers none of our conversation.  Poor Dave!  Poor Darah, though, because I had to use the net and get the dead fish out of the tank.  Not cool!!!  My parents would probably say that stuff like that provides good character-building experiences.  All about perspective, I guess.  They didn't have to see the dead fish, though!  lol

This whole pet fish thing has been more of an adventure than I ever imagined!  But, I'm very grateful for my fish babies :o)

Sweet Taste of Success!

Dave's sandwich of choice is a fluffernutter:  bread, peanut butter, and marshmallow creme/fluff.  What a combo!

I found a recipe for a fluffernutter cookie a few months ago, but it was a flop.  They had you combine (not blend) the peanut butter dough and the marshmallow.  They just weren't that great.  Being the stubborn perfectionist that I am, I had to find a winning fluffernutter cookie recipe.  Well, I'm happy to say everyone can sleep easy now because I FOUND IT!  :o)

There are 2 parts to the cookies:  the "dented" peanut butter cookie on the bottom and marshmallow creme/fluff spooned into the dent on the top.  I was slightly skeptical, but it was delicious!

I had Dave taste test them and he said, "These are really good, but to make them even better, they could use some chocolate."  Typical Dave answer!  :o)  I was forced to whip out my mad chocolate drizzling skills.

So, here are the Fluffernutter Cookies - Dave Style.  Yum!

Oh, they were a hit with the people I shared them with on Sunday night.  :o)  This recipe's a keeper!

Finally!!!

well...  just about...  :o)

During my lunch break today, I finally started my mormon.org profile!  I've been thinking about it for months, but just have been lazy and/or forgotten to do it when I actually have had down time.

So, be looking forward to a link in the next few days!

(Tamara will be so proud of me well-pleased!!!! ;o)

Wheelerdoodles

Some of the guys at Dave's work keep asking him when I am going to send him to work with more homemade cookies.  I had some extra time after work the other evening, so I decided to try a new recipe.  It combines 2 cookie doughs (peanut butter w/ chocolate chips & chocolate w/ Snickers candy bar pieces) into one cookie.  Sounds yummy enough, right?

Well, it made a mess of my hands and my kitchen.  Not fun!

It was alot worse in real-life!
They looked pretty cool, though!  And, my official taste tester said they tasted really yummy :o)

pre-baked
I love, love, love how each cookie looks a little different!

Finished product, complete with oozing Snickers bar :o)
Apparently, they were pretty tasty.  :o)  They were so good, they were given an official name:  Wheelerdoodles.  How cool is that?!  A few guys told Dave that he can never divorce me, based on my cooking/baking skills alone.  lol  One guy even told Dave that if we ever do get divorced, Dave's supposed to send me his way.  lol  Crazy men!

The Vice President of the company Dave works for even sought Dave out to tell him how amazing the cookies tasted.  Dave's boss told him that I needed to make them again soon.  Dave broke the sad news to him that I had said I would NEVER make them again because they took awhile and made a mess!  His boss said, "I will buy all the ingredients and come wash all the dishes if she will make them again."  What the?!  They're just cookies!

I'm grateful I know how to follow a recipe.  :o)  Anybody want a Wheelerdoodle??

joy in the simple things

I love sour patch kids.  Santa knows this, which is why there were some single-serve packs of sour patch kids in my stocking for Christmas this year.  :o)

I'm not a fan of the orange ones, though.  In fact, most of the orange ones I encounter get tossed in the trash.  What a waste, I know, I know... But I'd rather not waste the sugar or few calories on something I don't really enjoy.  (This excuse sounded more plausible in my head.  :o)

My favorite flavors happen to be green and yellow, with a greater emphasis on the green.  Imagine my excitement when I opened up a pack this afternoon and found this:

Ignoring the fact that the small packs only come with 5 kids in them, what a great-looking handful of sour patch kids!  Not an orange one in sight!  lol  It must so way be my lucky day!

All Day... Every Day...

This is where I spend most of my time during the week.  Lovely, huh?

And, yes; my office window overlooks the warehouse.  What a view!  I've thought about getting one of those beach/nature scene window cling things to put up there instead.

So the post isn't super whiny, I must express my gratitude for the fact that at this job I have my own office and it's not a cubical.  Thank goodness!

The Wheeler Way

My brother came to visit the other day and we had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.  Yum!  We introduced Bryan to the Wheeler way to eat tomato soup:  you add some cooked, white rice.  After we first got married and Dave did this, I thought he was disgusting and crazy!  However, I tried it and it is actually quite yummy.  :o)

7 lbs 7 oz of pure wonderfulness!

One of my best friends had a baby just over 24 hours ago.  She let me come visit her at the hospital during my lunch break today and hold her tiny bundle of cuteness!  It was an hour and a half so way well-spent!!!

Eventually, I'll have one of my own to cuddle with, but Skylar will do just fine for now!  ;o)

Falling asleep...

Blackmail! so is it her mom or her dad that sleeps with their mouth open too??  lol ;o)
Oh, and she does have a bit of brown hair underneath that cute hat.  And, she likes to clasp her hands together, interlocking her little fingers, and hold her hands up by her face, kinda under her chin.  Super cute!

I'm Dreaming of....

....potato salad.  Huh?!?

I don't remember many details anymore, but I do remember that last night I was dreaming about making all different kinds of potato salad.  They were so yummy!  (I love potato salad, by the way!)  So, naturally, I woke up wanting potato salad for lunch today.  To go with the chicken salad sandwich I was already planning on.  :o)

Weird.

Maybe I need to make a Kroger run at lunchtime.  ;o)
