Went to Asian market with my Filipina friend the other day and we bought lots of stuff. Of course, one of those things on the lists is the noodles. My taste bud is craving for Filipino food again. So today, I cooked vermicelli noodles or what we called "sotanghon" with shrimp and chicken. Soo yummy! It is also best if served with rice ;).

Stir-fried eggplant
I made more stir-fried eggplant. But this time, I didn't boiled the eggplant and I also used thinly sliced beef and marinated with soy sauce and lemon for an hour. Usually when I cooked, I don't really measure everything. I just do it the way I taste it and my preferences. First, saute the garlic and onion. Then add the marinated beef. Let it set for 15 minutes until it cooked then put the eggplant and carrots. Season it with soy sauce and pepper. Let it stand for another 10 minutes or until the eggplant is cooked. It is best when served with rice. It is really simple and easy.

American Buffet
Its been a long day for both of us today. Hubby and I helped one of our friend to clean his new apartment since he is going to move next month. It is really not easy to move since we already done it trice now (lol). From loading, unloading, cleaning and arranging stuff.
Anyway, after hours of helping. We went to Hometown buffet Restaurant for our treat. For only $9.99 per person. It is all worth it since you can eat everything whatever you wanna eat. Yum! I got every variety of foods since i love to try everything (lol).

Anne's style: stirfry eggplant
They are so many simple ways of cooking an eggplant. I used to cook eggplant alot when I was in the Philippines. My parents grew certain vegetables in our garden including eggplant. During harvest time, the quickest way is to fry them and dip with soy sauce.
Today, I cooked eggplant in another way and style. A boiled eggplant sauteed with garlic, onion, tomato, little bit of carrots and jalapeno. Instead of pork, I fried tuna fish and cut it into small pieces and seasoned it with soy sauce and pepper. I really miss this kind of food and so glad i got a chance to prepare it. Yum!

I love Joy!
When it comes to Asian food/restaurant, Joy Teriyaki is the number one place for us . Its been awhile since we haven't eat there. Its hubby's day off and we don't have anything to do. So we went to our favorite place to dine in and eat.
Hubby ordered Chicken and gyoza all rice cost $6.99 while i got kung pao chicken which is also $6.99. The prices aren't bad at all since they serve large portions of plate. It is a lot for me but it doesn't matter because I do have a big appetite when it comes to my favorite food. Yum!

Are you looking for an easy and quick way to make dinner? I would recommend this to everyone. Its super fast to prepare and healthy as well. Its a stir-fried chicken with vegetables. Hubby bought a boneless chicken breast and a mixed frozen vegetables. What i did i cut the chicken into strips and put it in a pan with olive oil. Stirfry for awhile until the chicken is cook then add the veggies with yoshida sauce and pepper.Cook it for another 5 minutes or until the vegetable is cook according to your preference (I prefer mine as al dente). In less than 30 minutes, wallah!!! You have a perfect dinner for two and it is best if served with steamed rice.

I made the mummy hotdogs which I learned when my in laws made them last Halloween. I also cooked chicken adobo and pancit palabok to add up for all the foods. Chicken Teriyaki
It's been awhile now since we haven't dine to our favorite place to eat Asian food at Joy Teriyaki. I consider this as one of my favorite restaurant. Their food is absolutely yummy and healthy. I was craving for a teriyaki chicken that we always got from Joy . Last night I was trying to order something but unfortunately, it was past 10pm which they already closed. So what I did, I cooked teriyaki chicken in my own version. I sliced the boneless chicken thighs, marinade it for half hour with soy sauce, teriyaki sauce (yoshida sauce), lemon, a little bit of salt and pepper and stir fry them. It turned out so good and was exactly what I wanted. Hubby also loves it ;).

Lunch at Baja Fresh
It was hubby's day off and we had our lunch date at Baja Fresh (Mexican Grill) which is just a walking distance from our place. We arrived there around 1:30pm and we just knew that they offer a happy hour lunch specials which we only have to pay half of the regular price menu around 2pm-5pm. Since we were not hungry yet, we decided to walk around the shopping center and come back after 2pm so we can avail their discount.
I have my own preference when it comes to Mexican food. Its not really my type of cuisine but I also have few of my favorites. As usual, I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla which i like from Baja Fresh. It is serve it guacamole, sour cream and chips.
Hubby got this big chicken buritto which is also serve with guacamole, salsa and chips.

Italian food for dinner
Nothing's special for our dinner tonight. I ask hubby earlier before he leave to work what should I make for dinner. Then he told me Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo sounds good to him. I had to admit, I was not really a fan of Italian food the very first time I taste it. The flavor was so bland and tasteless. Then my hubby's family likes to go to Italian Restaurant and cook Italian foods so I myself used to the flavor and began liking it :).
As expected, I made chicken fettuccine Alfredo and baked the cheese bread that we got from winco. It would be healthier if I also include spinach in it but we forgot to get it from the store. However, it was real good and we both love it.

Chili : Hubby's version
The other day, hubby and I went grocery shopping to buy the stuff that we needed for chili. I haven't make a chili from scratch before since we only buy those already in the can or ready to heat and eat. This time, hubby was determined to cook his own version of chili.
Ingredients:2 lbs.lean ground beef
coarsely chopped onion
2 cloves of chopped garlic
1/2 tbsp of ground hot red chile
2 1/2 tbsp ground mild chile
1 1/2 tbsp ground cumin
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups water
1(15oz) can tomato sauce
1(28oz) can peeled whole tomatoes
1(16oz) can pinto/kidney beans (rinsed)
It turned out so good and delicious. Everyone has a different version of it. It depends on what on your creativity and taste preference. You can also add vegetable like green bell pepper or more chile (hot/mild) if you want to make it more spicy. And for a healthier chili, buy a more combination of coarse-ground beef and hamburger-ground chuck. That way, some of the meat remains in a larger pieces once browned. Happy Eating!

The Yummy Blog is born
Welcome everyone to my new yummy blog. Since I was a kid, I like to watch cooking shows on television. I also dreamed that one day I will have my own cooking show. I learned how to cook from my father. I was his assistant when we prepare food every time there is a big occasion. Though I'm not that great cook or a famous chef , I didn't even study nor go to culinary school, I believe that if you have the passion, and eager to learn and love what you are doing, everything is possible.
This blog is all about my passion for food and anything related to it. I will also include the food escapades that hubby and I will explore to different restaurants, the recipe's, kitchen stuff, home and garden , health and lifestyle. Come, follow and allow me to share to you the perfect recipe called a taste of life.
