criz, premma and hemma ;)

met criz last evening - big big BIG smile. she was saying how busy she is that she cldnt update her blog and prolly direct everyone to my blog, since i volunteered to do an update for her. so here goes;

Christina Yeo has a hectic schedule filled with projects, meetings, tests, etc etc. therefore please do not take offence if she has been missing in your life. she's still a dear :) ahhhhh heck it, I MISS YOU CRIZ :( haha.. i miss all the times we had in nyp and out of nyp. i'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms. blahhh.. still, it was really great to catch up with you tmr and please, let's not go back to THAT horrible place to makan again. see ya on friday babe!

it's called fate.
from town, i took a train to get to class. and across the road, i spotted someone looking at me. and it was .... premmlatha! :) yeap, it sure is nice to see me when you think abt me. haha..

how nice can my day get. i got to meet 2 of my really good friends.
class was really fun last evening. i got a great bunch of people around me. - sighs in contentment.

today, i met the cousin! hemma d/o bala! nicenicenice. it was the first time that both of us managed to buy some clothes in abt 5 minutes. haha.. lunch at tekka and we did some aimless walking around little india. thanks for the gossip man! :) haha..

what is normal and what is not?

"so not normal."
"he's weird."
"why's she not like us?"
"can't he be normal?"

but what is normal?
normal's what is accepted by societal norms, not differing from what is being acceptable, not deviating from a standard.

who defines what normal is, and what normal isn't? i'll quote the famous example that my lecturer uses. suppose you visit a tribe in a village and they are all nude. you are the only one who's wearing clothes. so, that makes the villagers normal and you, abnormal.
another example; in a predominantly heterosexual community, being homosexual or bisexual is deemed as abnormal. if we play this scenario in another direction, in a predominantly homosexual community, being a heterosexual is considered to be weird.

what does that tells us about being normal? normalcy is when you are part of a group or community that shares certain behaviour, values or personality. deviate away from this social standard, and you find yourself on the abnormal scale.

standards and rules are made up by humans. we define what normal and abnormal is. truth is, but a societal construct and agreement. yes?
truth is a social agreement, so states postmodernism.

aye aye, agreed!

dinner & 6 goals.

a last minute meet-up with gaya and shalu. all cause shalu called :) awww.. okayyy..
met shal and wenta boat quay, ordered great food and waited for gayathri nair cause she was tryna rest aft getting her hair rebonded! haha.. we were irritating shalu cause she cut her hair that afternoon. but well, she still looks nice lah.. besides the fact that she's shrinking. but that's also okay cause she looks nice. haha.. sat around talking before we got caught in a photo-taking frenzy with the mirror.

Oh yeah, we totally, i mean TOTALLY decimated newcastle that night! haha.. it's more due to a lack of castle's defence. first half was frustrating though. claps to ronaldo, he went home with the ball.

yeap, you know it's a bad bad day for castle when even ferdinand was able to add his name into the score list.

mmm ya, what was liverpool's result once again? cough*1-1*cough! :p

more movies.

a few days ago, i caught "steel magnolias" on hbo. i have never heard of the movie, but i watched it partly for julia roberts. it's a movie about a group of women who congregate in a local beauty parlour in louisiana.

there's sally field (forrest gump, brothers & sisters) and julia roberts (pretty woman, the runaway bride) who play mother and daughter; dolly parton who is the owner of the beauty parlour, Olympia Dukakis & Shirley MacLaine (both veteran actresses) who play good friends in this film & Daryl Hannah (kill bill) who joins the beauty parlour.

It's a great movie that makes you laugh and cry at the same time. i wldnt really call it a chick flick. it's an honest, open movie that makes you think. beautiful.

next up, gayathri shalini ranjan and i caught "My Blueberry Nights" . honestly, it was a bit of a disappointment. jude law had nothing much to do in this movie, except to serve blueberry pies & get punched in da face. norah jones in her acting debut, was pretty stiff and hesitant.

it was a slow moving film and the best parts in this film were prolly in the segments where they featured David Strathairn (fracture, good night & good luck) who plays Arnie the cop, Rachel Weisz (constantine, the constant gardener) and Natalie Portman (closer, v for vendetta).

Even then, this film couldnt be saved.
