settling down

everything's over.. for now.. i mean the whole deepavali hoo-haa and excitement.. no more as exciting and lookin forward to it though. the only fun part is meeting up with friends and strange family members who i've never set eyes upon and who suddenly appear out of nowhere and get introduced as part of the family.

seems to me most of the visiting's over. except for the party at uncle's house on saturday. i dunno what else is in store for me. well, i am pretty contented with briyani now. i dont want any more of it! and well, murukku and kuih makmur is still okay. i heart them with all my, erm, heart.

well, festives are losing their appeal. they just emphasize how much work is to be done before each major event. as a kid years ago, all i could see was the food and fun and yes, the money lah. but now, i see how much work and cleaning mum has to go through, how difficult it is. well, i actually enjoyed washing the windows this time. cause i found a fun way to go abt it. think of the windows in bodywatch gym and u'll get what i mean. haha..
money from relatives and parents has lost its appeal. when you think abt it, you receive money from an aunt or uncle, and from ur dad's pocket, the same amount leaves. and at the end of the day, i get richer while my dad's pocket and wallet get lighter. we shd all just pass the money we get to our parents. what a noble thing to do! haha..

anyway, i'm done with my deepavali reflections. will do some more on xmas day and new year day. cheers. and i miss vanisha dass, just so the cyberworld knows, cause dass doesnt!

whee... the awaited deepavali was finally here and i gotta say that it was tons of fun, as u can see from the pictures! thanks to everyone who came over and added fun and laughter :)

star-struck on soccer

finally i managed to wake up in da middle of da night to catch a good soccer match! and its da uefa match, chelsea against barcelona and liverpool against bordeaux. woke up at 2am cause the newspaper stated that the barca match was at 2. but well, after all those pre-match analysis, talk yada yada, the match started at 2:45! oh wells.. wanted to see how wld chelsea's 3rd choice keeper, Henrique Hilario would perform on his debut match. wasnt too bad, he didnt really have much saving to do, chelsea's defence and midfield was tight. you see, players like frank lampard play so well for their club, but when it comes to defending their country, somehow the form isnt there.

ronaldinho was a bit of disappointment. lionel messi played well, had chances to score, but well, the ball cldnt find itself back in chelsea's net. drogba's goal was a replay of the goal he scored against the reds this season. so ya, it was a one-nil victory to chelsea.

watched liverpool's match in between. it was pool's first away victory in the uefa league. crouch's goal did the trick. not bad. oh ya, wanted to catch man utd's match against fc copenhagen but i hadta wake real early on wednesday morning, so i missed it. man utd won 3-nil. o shea scored one. haha.. unexpected.

aside from soccer, wednesday was spent helping out in the "too tuff to puff" event at plmgss. crew members included hanson, terry, firhan and me. carolyn roped us in to help out. it was real nice to see sup. carolyn. still being known as "sup" (for "supervisor") =)
along with john, we set up the street soccer enclosure and all and helped to brief abt the mini-tournament and all. it was fun. girls playing soccer. all sec2 girls. and some cld play. and the rest were cheering, i mean screaming for their friends :) haha..

off to meet shalini after the event. it was real tiring. poor firry was fasting. wonder how he coped with it. so ya.. met my fav soccer junkie for lunch and since i was too tired to talk, she did most of the talking, i guess! i was busy drinkin pepsi from kfc and laughing at shalu who was talking in tamil to her mum over da phone! that girl makes me laugh :))

mad minyi and me

min came over for lunch this afternoon. it was a very short visit. hardly an hour, cause she was late! and she could still say that we only lived 10 minutes apart, cause her bus journey was only 10 minutes. wells..
as usual she couldnt contain her enthusiasm when it comes to photo taking; she had to take pictures of the rice, the vegetables, the pappadum (!!) madness lah.. since she hadta leave for physio, mum packed cookies and gave it to min :) minyi da cookie monster..
i heart min, though i dun say that often :p

i don't know what to call this..

its been a long week, with plans and meeting-up with people and of course the inevitable deepavali shopping. its a ritual, a yearly routine, deepavali is never complete without shopping with nava chithi, hems and bestu friendu divya! :) anyway, its sucha கூத்து being with them lah. never fail to make me laugh, terribly witty and humourous, full of characters. where else can i find such people with sucha dynamic personality? haha. my cousins and company!! despite all cocked up plans and such incidents, always recurring, i'm still alright thanks to their loosu-தனம்! so ya, i've never said this, but well, now's a good time ever cause the spirit of deepavali is making me a better person. ha. thanks family, u've always stood by me. and thanks friends, who are just like family :)

i dont really know what else i need to blog about. just met up with shan san cynthia and mabel last evening. fantastic, really. and shalu came over on wednesday; we ate and slacked, thats what we do best?! so ya, thats it for now. i'm pretty annoyed that man utd is trailing 1-nil with wigan. grrr...

Farmway Minimart திறப்பு விழா

நேற்று நாம் ஜாலான் காயு சென்றோம். திறப்பு விழா ல. பன்னீர் மாமா, குமுதா அத்தை, கவிதா, அரசி அத்தை, மாமா, LakeSide Loosu-s; namely Sajeetha and Deepa (the MIA girl!) அப்பாவின் நண்பர் ராமா uncle மற்றும் அவரின் குடும்பத்தினர் were there too. anyway there was alot of work to be done, like labelling and taggin price tags on products.
on an ordinary day it might be tedious and tiring, but with kavi sajee and deeps, it was pure fun and laughter. this nonsensical sajeetha அக்கா kept calling me "சரசு"!! என்ன நரகம் (what the hell!) anyway, she was talking to me like i was some domestic helper lah! pandi.. and ya, i lived up to her imagination by irritating her and calling her "madam" and my "madam, நீங்க ஏன் எப்போதும் என்னை யேசுரீங்க?!" god its crazy lah.. kumutha அத்தை joined us during lunch and we were planning for kums' 21st party. talked alot, we shall see how the plans turn out lah.

before sunday, i stayed over at நவா சித்தி's place, cause it was her birthday/பிறந்தநாள் on friday! :)) so after shopping at tekka, i left with hemma and company.. had dinner at downtown east with பாலா சித்தப்பா. நல்லா கொட்டிக்கிட்டோம்! ஹஹா.. was gossiping with hemma in da night.. and laughing over stuff.. horrendous lah.. but hemma has really great juicy news and gossips.. i'm pretty outdated man..

ehh, did i mention i made பலகாரம் with mum and 2 அத்தைs on wednesday?! haha.. wonderful.. now i have stuff to eat at home.. great. just a week plus to deepavali..
pretty soon, the year will come to an end, till then, we'll eat பலகாரம and be merry :)

நான் கொஞ்சகாலமாக காணமல் போய்விட்டேன் என்று நினைக்கிறேன்! கவலை வேண்டாம், வந்துவிட்டேன்!

நேற்று, அம்மாவும் நானும் ஜீவா Clan-னுடன் "சிவாஜி Show" பார்க்கச் சென்றோம். பெரிய கூட்டத்துடன் நாம் இருந்தோம். ஹஹ.. Mum had a pleasant reunion with the Stirling Road Siblings! haha.. nice way of putting it. and kavi and i were laughing and making fun and "whoa-ing" thruout the show. subash? MR PLAY-IT-COOL!! haha.. but i'm glad he came along; my dance partner! kavi is obsessed with "Rainforest" ahhaa.. அவன் ஒரு பொடியன் lah!
show முடிந்தவுடன், அதே பெரிய கூட்டத்துடன் ayer rajah food centre-கு சென்றோம். (see kavi now we know the name of it! haha!) நன்றாக கொட்டிக்கிட்டோம்! ஹஹ.. mee hoon goreng, mee goreng, soup tulang, ice milo, teh ice and teh tarik!!! :))))
வாழ்க்கை-னா இது தான் lah வாழ்க்கை! நல்ல சாப்பாடு, நல்ல company. so much of fun. dad came to fetch us. and ya, we makan-ed till 12:30am.. haha.. poor dad, the moment we reached home, his engineer called him and told him that a cable was damaged. so dad had to go back to the substation and then to the actual place to check up on it. and the time was already 1am. horrendous. he only came home at 9 this morning. its a dog's life lah.
But well, we all had fun last evening :) right kavitha jungle?! hahahaa...
