Operation safe and sound ( help for a crafty friend)

      Hola este post será en Inglés principalmente pues es para recomfortar y donar fondos para una amiga del medio de las manualidades de USA.

     Hi! This post is to tell Christy that even not knowing you, I know what you are going through, so I feel you and pray for you girl.  Remember that God is watching after what really matters: you and your lovely family, so I hope it's ok with you that I am praying to God to keep you and your family safe, that he gives you peace, so you feel better. From one crafty girl to another, hang in there Christy if you let go of your fears to the Lord you can rest in his arms.  Here is the card I made for you!

• "We have a special post today.  Our dear friend Christy's home was broken into and a lot of their things were either destroyed or taken. Some things held such sentimental value that nothing will replace it.   What makes our community so remarkable is that we are there for each other even though we can't physically be near our friends. These "people" violated her home, the place where we are supposed to feel the most safe, where we raise our children and where we sleep in peace. I can not even imagine what she is going thru or the loss she has endured.  Dealing with the police and insurance company has been and continues to be exhausting and frustrating for Christy and her family. She has been updating her facebook page with some details.

Some of Christy's friends have come together to help. We are of course making cards for her because that's what we do, right? But ultimately, the expense of trying to get her family back on their feet will be somewhat of a strain. Imagine having to replace household items, necessities in our world all while trying to rebuild a sense of security that we all most times take for granted. 

So, we're asking for your help. We've tried to make it convenient for you to help Christy and her family. There's a PayPal button on each of our blogs. We are asking that if its your hearts desire, that you donate whatever you can to help Christy and her family regain a sense of safety and security.  NOTHING is too small. Every little bit will make all the difference. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help cover the costs of food, lodging and replacing at least some of the items taken.

Reto de Tecnica de Besado en A Blog Named Hero / A Blog Named Hero Kissing Technique Challenge

     Saludos a todos, tuve varios problemas con mi computadora, entre ellos que el cargador se quemó. Entonces no había podido poner ésta tarjeta que hice para A Blog Named Hero. El reto de la técnica de besado entre estampas, que consiste básicamente en entintar una estampa de imagén sólida  y juntarla con otra con diseño más detallado ( la cual puede o no estar entintada) y estampar.  Así  obtienes un híbrido, es decir un diseño totalmente nuevo. Con esto, podremos sacarle más jugo a nuestras estampas.

     Hi everyone! I have not had the chance to upload this card that I made for A Blog Named Hero, for the kissing technique ( which basically consists of  inking a solid image stamp and put it together (kissing) with other stamp, a detailed one, that can be also inked or not and then stamping) challenge, with this technique you obtain a hybrid design, which is a totally new one.  So we can use it to get more out of our stamps.

     Para ésto también recomiendo que tomen la clase de Stretch your stamps con Jennifer McGuire, Kristina Werner y unas de las mejores maestras de técnicas de sellado. En ésta clase se harán 5 diferentes proyectos con cada una de las estampas que usarán las maestras; así nos darán ideas para usar de nuevas e inimaginables formas las estampas que tenemos y a lo mejor comprar una que otra de las que las maestras van a usar, pues como parte de la clase se nos dan unos códigos de descuentos para varias tiendas en línea!

     For this purpose, I also recommend that you take the class Stretching your stamps with Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner and ones of the best stamping teachers out there. In this class there will be 5 different proyects done  with each stamp that the teachers will be using.  That way they will give us ideas on new an unimaginable ways to use the stamps that we own, and maybe buy one or two of the ones the teachers will be using;  because as part of the class you will receive discount codes to several online stores!

Tutorial fotografico: haciendo tarjetas con tus sobras de liston. / Photo tutorial: making cards out of ribbon scraps.

     El día de hoy les preparé un tutorial fotográfico de cómo utilizar sus sobras de listón para hacer tarjetas o adornos para sus páginas de scrapbook:

     Today I prepared a photo tutorial about how to use your ribbon scraps to make cards or embellishments for your layouts:

• Para comenzar necesitas un suaje, una suajadora, un pedazo de cartoncillo o cartulina( yo usé un color rosa neón porque me lo quiero acabar, venía en un paquete de oferta, es tu oportunidad de deshacerte de los pedazos de cartulina que no te gusten pues quedarán totalmente cubiertos) que cubra el suaje que vayas a utilizar, sobras de listones que combinen, cinta doble cara y unas tijeras.
• To begin you will need a die, a die cut machine,  a piece of cardstock ( I used a horrible neon shade of pink, because I just want to finish it, I bought it in a mixed pack at a sale, here is your opportunity to get rid of the cardstock you don't like, because it will be completely covered) that covers the die you want to use, ribbon scraps that look good together, double sided or score tape and scissors.

• Cubre todo el cartoncillo con cinta de doble cara dejando unos centímetros a cada extremo.
• Cover the entire piece of cardstock with double sided tape, leaving a 1.5 to 2 inches extra on both edges.

•  Utiliza un doblador de hueso (bone folder)o una tarjeta de crédito o de regalo para quitar todas las burbujas y asegurar que la parte pegajosa de la cinta se adhiera correctamente.
• Use a bone folder or a credit or gift card to get rid of air bubbles and make sure the sticky part adheres correctly.

•  Dale la vuelta al cartoncillo y pega las orillas.
• Turn around the cardstock and adhere the ends.

•  Cuando quites todo el papel de la cinta, te quedará así:
• When you remove all the paper from the tape it will look like this:

•  Empieza a colocar tiras de listones una por una, dejando algunos centímetros en las orillas.
• Start placing ribbons one by one, leaving 1.5-2 inches on each end.

•  Cuando cubras por completo el cartoncillo se verá algo así:
• When you have completely covered the cardstock it will look something like this:

•  Vuelve a pasar el doblador de hueso (bone folder) o tarjeta de crédito firmemente sobre toda el área para segurarme de que los listones estén bien pegados.
• Once again I pass the bone folder through the whole area, pressing firmly to make sure all ribbons are well adhered.

•  Entonces volteó el cartoncillo y pego las puntas de los listones.
• Then I turn the cardstock over and adhere the ribbons ends.

•  Una vez terminado se verá así
• Once finished it will look like this:

•  Coloca tu suajadora con las placas correspondientes al tipo de suaje que vayas a usar, yo te recomiendo suaje Sizzix del grueso pues es más fácil que atraviese todos los listones.
• Put your die cut machine with the corresponding plates for your die, I recommend Sizzix wide or original dies because it is easier to cut through the ribbons.

•  Coloqué primero una placa de acrílico, luego mi cartoncillo cubierto de listón, el suaje y por último la otra placa de acrílico.
• I put first one acrylic plaque, then my ribbon covered cardstock, then the die and at last the other acrylic plaque.

• Le dí una pasada por mi suajadora y listo!
• I put it through the die cut machine once and it was ready!

•  Terminé con 3 estrellas de diferentes tamaños.
• I ended up with three different sized stars.

•  Y una base con las estrellas en negativo, que también puedo utilizar.
• And a base with the negative stars that I can also use.

      Y aquí estan las dos tarjetas que hicé con las estrellas y con la base:

Página enmarcada en listón de la boda de mi mami / Ribbon framed layout about my mom's wedding

     Otro proyecto con listón; aquí enmarqué la página de la boda de mi mami con listón en blanco con negro y en general traté de mantener la mayoría de los detalles en los mismos colores de la fotografía. Las pequeñas flores están hechas también de listón con centro de perlas. Mi mamá se casó en octubre de 1972, a poco no está hermosa?

     Another proyect with ribbon,; here I framed the layout of my mom's wedding with black and white ribbon, and in general, I tried to keep all the details in the same colors as the photo. The little flowers are also made with ribbon and pearls centers. My mom got married in October 1972, isn't she gorgeous?

     Reto de Moxie Fab World, usando la técnica de salpicadura con pinturas. Hicé dos tarjetas, una para el cumpleaños de mi compañera diseñadora Danielle y la otra, formando una escena con suajes de nubes, flores y mariposas de MFS Dienamics que son buenísimos.

     Moxie Fab World Challenge splatter technique. I made two cards, one to celebrate my DT friend's birthday, Danielle, and the other, forming a scene using MFT Dienamics dies which are awesome.

     Para este reto de Moxie Fab World, se debe de usar damasco o brocado que son diseños o tipos de telas muy antiguas y/o elegantes. Usé unos papeles de Pink Paislee que me parecen muy ad hoc con el tema.



     For this Moxie Fab World Challenge, you are to use damask or brocade, which are designs or types of very elegant and/ or antique fabrics. I used some Pink Paislee papers, that seemed very ad hoc for the challenge to me.
