Out of the mouths of babes - 2

We watched Real Steel for the first time and in one part of the movie Atom fights a two-headed robot.  I made a statement something like "Wow!  He has to fight a robot with 2 heads!?!?" and Liam without any hesitation replies "Double the fun!"  He is such a funny kid!

Meghan loves to go camping!  She asks quite often if "We can go tomorrow?"  The other day while driving down the road she said "Mom, camping is like having a sleep over in the mountains!"  She is such a little smarty!

Out of the mouths of babes

Meghan is by far our most creative child, she loves to play pretend, and make up stories or songs. It's been a lot of fun and I've been extra grateful that I've been able to be home with her, so I don't miss any of it. Here are a couple of examples from the last week.

She came in from from being outside, so excited and asked if she could go ice skating in the backyard. I answered her with a questioning, sure? To which she replied "Yes? But only if I wear my pretend helmet and pretend ice skates, and pretend there is ice back there? (pause) Yes!!!"

She also has a HUGE obsession with Dr. Pepper. She can hear you open a can from anywhere in the house and when she hears she comes running asking for the 2nd drink. Well the other night she asked what she could have to drink, to which I replied "milk, water, or chocolate milk" She turned to me and said in a whiny voice "But I want something yummier and brown, and it doesn't come from cows!" Haha! I couldn't stop laughing!

Chipwrecked!

Meghan is obsessed with Alvin and the Chipmunks! A few days after Christmas I took her and Ryleigh to see the newest movie Chipwrecked! She loved it and she especially loved these statues of them at the theaters! This is a bad blurry picture but I still love it!
She was so excited to get all dressed up to go to the "fee aters"! it was fun to take her to a movie that she actually sat really still through almost the entire time.

Trip to Costco

This is what you do when you don't want to run errands with mom,
you lay down in the grocery cart and pout!

AZ Science Center

Liam on the bed of nails

Because my kids get the whole week of Thanksgiving off and because Liam needed to visit a museum of some sort to complete a scouting belt loop we decided to go to the AZ Science center. I was able to get a Culture Pass for the public library which got 2 of us in for free which made it even more doable for us! My kids always love going there but this time was a little different they were very unimpressed by most everything. Their favorite stop was on our way out when we stopped at this table and they created some masterpieces all on their own as well as using the patterns that were available. We stayed in this one spot for probably at least an hour before heading home.

A lady bug, a zombie, and a Princess!

For Halloween this year Ryleigh was a Ladybug, I made her costume, which I think turned out pretty cute. She didn't love it but wore it anyway!

Liam was a Zombie, which was my idea because he couldn't come up with anything himself!
I think he was pretty happy with the outcome!

And little Miss Meghan was a princess, her costume was purchased a month before the big day and was worn at least once a day everyday since we brought it home. She wore it so much I had to do quite a few repairs on it so she could still wear it, it was falling apart! She refused to wear the jacket to the costume which I think was the cutest part of it. Maybe I can get her to put it on just for a picture. She's also missing the tiara in this picture.

We had a great Halloween! The festivities started on the Friday before with trick or treating at Grandma Cheryl's work (University of Phoenix). We had so much fun and got so much candy that I convinced the kids to let us hand it out that night at our Ward Trunk or Treat. Which was awesome not to have to buy candy for that! I made chili and a pie for our Ward party, and didn't win in either category for the contest, but I didn't care much either! We had a good time, Ryleigh handed out candy that night, she didn't even want to trick or treat! On Monday we made a crock pot of soup and took it over to Grandma and Grandpa McCoy's house to spend the evening. Their neighborhood goes all out for Halloween and we always have a lot of fun handing out cups of root beer over there. None of my kids were interested in trick or treating, they spent almost the entire night filling up little cups of root beer, I think we went through almost 1000 cups. Towards the end of the night they all walked down 1 street and were done.

Pumpkins 2011

Pumpkins are always a big hit around here, the kids love to help carve them! We bought them a good week before carving them and that was pretty much torture for Meghan! She was so excited for the big event!

Here is Liam hard at work!

Yes he wore gloves to dig out the insides! Funny kid!

Ryleigh working on her masterpiece

Meg was asleep when we started the process which was probably a good thing, because when she finally woke up it was all about her!

Total Daddy's girl!

Just because

I just thought she looked extra cute for school this morning so I snapped a few pictures
of her before the bus came to get her! I love this little girl so much and
am super lucky to be her mommy!

This picture cracks me up, she saw a bunny run across the street!

Such a ham!

Ryleigh turns 10!!!

Could that possibly be true? I guess it is! Ryleigh turned ten on the 14th of September and I can hardly get over it! She chose to invite her cousins Jacie and Paityn and then her Aunt Makenna to go out on a date with me for her birthday. Paityn couldn't go so it was just the 4 of us. Ryleigh chose Serrano's for dinner and then we went to As You Wish to paint. Here are the girls painting their items.

Makenna chose a Hippo piggy bank

Ryleigh chose a turtle piggy bank

And Jacie chose this little dragon that turned out very cute!

I'm pretty sure they all had a great time, I know Ryleigh did!

Some things I love about Ryleigh right now are:
1. She is very compassionate
2. She likes to help in the kitchen (she's not very good in there, but likes to none the less)
3. She aims to please other people (not her mother but other people)
4. Her beautiful red hair. She doesn't love having red hair, but we get stopped all the time from people who are just in awe with how pretty her hair is. One day she will appreciate it.
5. She loves little kids and wishes we could have another brother or sister around here. She loves to help me in nursery and with her little cousins.
6. She cares about others and wants everyone to be happy.
7. She is very much a daddy's girl. She likes to go to work with him, fly airplanes with him, pretty much anything with him.
8. She is very good at baton, and enjoys learning and getting better at it.
9. She likes to be outside.
10. She likes math, she's not very good at it but she still likes it.

Wheeler Family Reunion 2011

We had our family reunion over Labor Day weekend with my side of the family up at Camp Lomia. We went up Friday night and stayed until Monday. We were hoping for cooler weather but it ended up being pretty warm during the day but cooled way down at night. Meghan was pretty much a party pooper and just wanted to be up at the cabin the entire time. I think the biggest reason is because she was also hot, I only packed pants for her, so when she would drag one of us to the cabin she would strip down to just her undies and hang out and watch movies on the laptop while everyone else had a good time doing all of the activities that were planned.

It was an Olympic theme so we were put in groups of 3 or 4 families and we each represented a country. We represented Mexico, there were also Fiji, Japan, Germany, and Senegal (Africa). They tried to pick countries that people had either served missions in or had visited there. There was a parade where everyone dressed up representing their country and we all had flags from that country as well. This happened while I was up attending to Meghan and her nakedness! Apparently Ryleigh slipped in with Fiji for the parade! Oh well!
Each country was in charge of one meal, which we tried to represent the countries with as well.
I have more pictures and will post more about it later.

Pet store

Meghan loves going to the pet store! She loves to watch the birds and guinea pigs and mice run in their cages! And she especially loves to see the kitties! This particular kitty was very fond of Miss Meghan and he wanted to go home with her. She was very sweet to him and said when we went home with out him.
