It's time again to head back to the motherland...back to the motherchurch. I plan to arrive back on the 14th and stay until the 4th. If you're interested in grabbing a meal together or a coffee or anything please shoot me an email (or hit up the contact page from the link above) and we'll try to work out a good time to do that. I haven't been very good

matching shirts
How many of you, I wonder, have ever showed up to an event and you've got the same shirt on as a baby...and you also have the same name as that baby? That's how I made it onto the blog of one of some good friends from Nicaragua! Click here to go see their blog... and a photo!

end of November
As always,
there's probably too many stories to tell in the length of this blog
since I've again waited so long to send an update. Here are the topics I
hope to hit: school visits and the computer refurbishing program, the
FRB video contest, an outing with the kids, and the return of the Dama.

as an aside: great music
I've recently come across some excellent music--life affirming and uplifting in a realistic way--and feel compelled to share it here for your enjoyment. There are two videos and one embedded music player... Here is Amy Stroup, Calle 13, and Orphan Songs...

from managua to miskitos to malaria
When I say a lot has happened since the last post, it's no joke. I expected to blog a couple of weeks ago after returning from two one-week Participatory Video projects. The first one was south of Managua in a very new 'land bank', and the second was along the Rio Coco, in a community known as Wiwinak, accessible only by boat. Both of those projects could easily take up several blogs on their own. But then after returning from the second week out of town, I was thrust into a couple of other smaller projects, and couldn't find the time to

quick saludos
I'm about 5 minutes from heading out for two weeks to the campo (the country) where I'll be doing another round two rounds of participatory videos. First, I'll be south of Managua near Jinotepe, and then I'll be heading for Wiwinak, on the Rio Coco (there was a plane crash here a while back, some of you may remember this).
For now, I want to leave you with a video to show you the type of project that we're going to be working on. This video was edited down from its original version and translated into english. The original can also be found on our youtube channel if you want to watch it in spanish. Here's the link! Enjoy!
Check back in a couple of weeks for some photos and maybe some video. I look forward to coming back and updating you on how it went! Please pray that it goes well, that Farid, my assistant for the participatory video projects, really grows into his position even more during these next two weeks. They will be pretty intense, as the only power will be generator-produced, and the only water will be river water and water we bring in! And the only place to go to the bathroom will be an outhouse! Come to think of it, please pray for good health as well! I've been very blessed to have had no major problems so far!
I'd also like to just quickly say how nice it was to see so many of you during my last visit to the States and Canada! More in a couple weeks!

chepe and farid
Thanks for coming back to check out the next post--I'm glad you're here! I think we all agree too much time has passed since I wrote last. I'm just getting back at it after my first break since December!

i *am* actually still here...
...I've just been a bit too busy to write another blog. Things are constantly crossing my mind of things I want to share with my readers and supporters, but then I'm often too busy at work, and I have no internet at home! (It's something I've been looking into--now, if I could just find it at the right price)
I'm in the middle of a video for the Nehemiah Center at the moment. It will be about 10 minutes, and will lay out some of the context of our work, as well as explaining the key concepts for the way the Nehemiah Center exists and functions. Even though we only have about three weeks to finish it, it still feels like we've just begun. We've filmed several interviews that will serve as the main body of the video, outlining the three main pillars of the NC: biblical worldview, community development, and collaboration. I'll be creating a look and feel for the video and working on the introduction in the next couple of days, and we'll also be heading out of Managua to film a little more for the collaboration section of the video.
There's a lot more to tell, but I've gotta get back to that video project!

- pray for lots of creativity in the NC video
- pray for Nicaragua, its people and its leaders as they gear up for another presidential election this fall
- pray that I'll have time to get another blog update out soon!
