Christmas Morning

Christmas Morning was slightly different this year, instead of waking up at our 'own' house, we woke up at Mamaw's and Papaw's house. It was a special treat to be with my family on Christmas morning, I'm looking forward to next year when we'll get to wake up on Christmas in our very own house! My mom was incredible and had fixed a fantastic breakfast so the aroma was mouthwatering to wake up to.

The spread of gifts...85% were for K and KB

Santa brought K her very own camera....a gift she asked Santa for for a long time!

My favorite part of the morning and the real reason we celebrate. We lit the cake up with candles and sang 'Happy Birthday' to Jesus!
Drew left for church after our morning together. We spent the rest of the day enjoying all the new toys and gifts that the kids were spoiled with. We took it easy as we were anticipitating an early rise for our trip to Indiana the next morning!!!

Reindeer food

Another tradition we started last year with K was to sprinkle the lawn with food for the Reindeer. It goes along with the cookies for Santa, but of course, outside! The food is super easy to make....just add sprinkles to some dry oatmeal and ta da!

This needs to be done right before bed so it doesn't get stale of course...

We're ready for Santa...and his Reindeer!

Cookies for Santa

Kerrington and I made some cookies for Santa to eat when he came to visit our house. She did a good job helping make the dough, but got distracted when we were cutting out the dough then decorating with icing. She sure was excited though when it came to setting out the cookies with milk and a note.

Drew and I have a few Christmas traditions that we want to do with the kids especially now when they are so small and we are a family of four. Its so fun to see Kerrington's face light up and hear the wheels turn in her head when we are trying to explain some of the things were doing.

She left her cookies by the tree!

What a sweet smile on that face of hers!

She's ready for Santa to come!
Last year, Kerrington referred to Santa as 'Ho Ho'. Leading up to Christmas this year he was also 'Ho Ho' until we began singing a few Christmas carols in the car when we drove around town. I tried to have a bit of variety, but Kerrington was stuck on two songs: 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' and 'Jingle Bells'. After singing 'Santa Claus' she figured out his real name and now calls him Santa Claus (but with a cute slur). It was bittersweet to see this change in her! She also wouldn't let me sing anything but the chorus of Jingle Bells!  What a nut!

Christmas Jammies

We have the kids open one gift the night of Christmas Eve... Christmas Jammies! Kerrington had some help this year around. Check out the pics below!

'Which present can I open?'

Here we go!

He's back, and trying to help this time!

We tucked our angels in bed and opened up Santa's workshop after they were fast asleep! We were up for a couple hours assembling all the fun presents! Keep the look out for what they got in upcoming posts.

Kellan's 1st Haircut

We took Kellan to get his hair cut for the first time. I knew it was about time to do it, but something about cutting my babies hair for the first time makes me think they won't be babies any more! He was starting to get mullet-ish in the back though so I knew it was time. Luckily, Drew had a haircut scheduled so we asked if we could just tag Kellan along at the end and his sweet hair stylist agreed!

My bug did a good job, and looks mighty handsome! He was pretty curious what this strange lady was doing but we did all we could to distract him. Way to go lil guy!

Lets try the brush

Does it go here?

How about a cookie? He's thrilled!

Kellan's PARTY!

We had ourselves a p-a-r-t-y this past Saturday for our lil man who turned ONE!!!! It was a sweet little party held at my parents house with family and friends. I just decided to do a orange and gray themed party since I raked my brain trying to come up with a theme (that's a hard thing to do for a 1 year old's party!). I think it turned out well...it was so fun getting everything ready and we had a blast with the ones we love.
Welcoming our guests!

I found these cute 'thank you' cards on Pinterest!

Beautiful cake to match his invitation! Couldn't have been more perfect!

Monthly pictures and birthday banner...lots of love put in to these!

The Birthday Boy ready to party!

His Gigi and Papa drove all the way from Indiana to be with Kellan for his party. What a special boy!

'What's all this hustle and bustle for mom?"

"Yes! Time for the good stuff!" (and not to point out the obvious..but looky who was right there to 'help' little brother)

oh yes...it's about time!

he likes it!!

why not eat the whole thing..it's your birthday!

what the camera didn't capture was she fed him a bite, then gave herself some....

dazed and confused

no time for family pictures
I couldn't feel more blessed to have been able to celebrate Kellan's first birthday today. He is an answer to prayer and truly makes my heart swell when I see his sweet face. I can't get enough of him and this year (although going by to quickly) was more than we ever could have bargained for. I can't wait to see his personality develop even more as he turns into a toddler (tear). I pray that he never doubts how much his daddy and I love him and that he and his sister become best friends as they continue to grow up together. Happy Birthday my lil man... mommy loves you!
