Andrew plays football on the freshmen team for Chico High School. That's all kind of a big deal because first....FOOTBALL....Andrew is a basketball player, what's he doing playing football. But I knew from the other two boys playing football that it's a great way to start high school. Being on a sport team, practicing together with new friends all summer, wearing the jersey on game days, etc....school involvement, school spirit, it's all a great way to start a high school experience. Second, FRESHMAN... What? ... My youngest, my "baby" is in high school!!! How did that happen so quickly!!! And CHICO HIGH.... Yes, that is the ENEMY. The RIVAL. We do NOT like Chico High. We dont like red and yellow. We dont like Panthers. We are a Pleasant Valley Viking family! We wear blue. We sit in blue chairs. But, Andrew goes to Chico High. He loves it. So far, every experience I have had with the staff at Chico High has been wonderful. We even bought Scott a Chico High Football t shirt! (Bradley wants to destroy it!)
Well, their first game was this past Thursday. Scott got off early and we drove 2 hours to Roseville to watch the game. I'm glad we did. I am not much of a football fan, but I enjoyed the game. Andrew played on defense, every play, so he got a lot of playing time. I think he did well, too! He's definitely one of the tallest players on the team....but he's a lineman, I think he needs to put on some weight, he's SKINNY! But strong. He has a good line coach, too, so I think he will have a good season. He has a bunch of aches and bruises, but pretty much linemen hit people and get hit all game long. He doesnt complain much! (and he's a complainer!!!)
He is really having fun. He has made lots of friends. His basketball teammates are on the team. And he likes the game!
Oh, and they WON (20-7). And he got a sack!

| Andrew looks way up on the line, but it's just the angle of where I was sitting, he's ready! |
 |
| Right near the end of the game they were only leading by 7 and needed a big defensive stop, the other team needed a big offensive series, so they called a time out.....Andrew's team (great defense) stopped them....this is where they got an interception, but the line guys forced it by nearly getting to the quarterback. |
