Bradley #7

We love uniform day....
Bradley got his soccer uniform today.  It came with a red jersey, a white jersey, red shorts, red socks, black socks, a red warm up jacket, and black warm up pants.  I remembered how excited he was when he got his basketball uniform, so I found that picture to show these two side by side.
Happy Kid!

Mount Lassen Nat'l Park

A couple of the scouts and their leaders went on a campout at Mt Lassen.  They planned to hike to the peak, but never made it because of rock slides and a sick leader.

Even though they didn't get the once in a lifetime hike experience, I still hope they enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors!

sulfur pits, stinky...
but the facial expressions on this picture if it wasn't the sulfur pits and Bradley wasn't plugging his nose are pretty funny.  Noah smiling....Eli looking absolutely thrilled (NOT), and Chase eyes closed, but still trying to look cool.

11 year old scout camping trip

This was the first picture I saw when I looked at the camping pictures Scott took, haha, I thought that Andrew must have not had much fun, but in the rest he looks very happy!

They ate dinner around the campfire the first night they got there.

Andrew didn't call it a "service project" but they worked on a bathtub and learned soldering.

They went on a hike and saw the remains of an old post office and hotel.  They saw a man made wall (with rocks) and a stairway.

Scott and Andrew brought our dog Sam.  Sam loved the attention and the great outdoors.

They did some searching for gold....don't think they used this machinery, though.

Andrew caught two little mystery fish.

They played in the creek, but they also panned for gold.  Andrew said that they found $10.00 worth of gold, but that Brother Albert kept it all.

They did skits.

And had tons of fun together!

baseball

Andrew had a good game today.  It was the 8:30 a.m. game so it wasn't ridiculously hot outside, and we got the dugout side that was in the shade...BONUS!!!!!!!!!
Andrew played short stop, right field, and 3rd base.
He got two singles and one that he's calling a home run, which it was, but in real little league a cut off man would have run halfway out into the outfield and would have helped get the ball in, the team they were playing didn't do that, so Andrew was able to round all the bases before the left fielder got the ball in.
Great way to spend summer Saturday morning!

Downieville Mountain Biking

Bradley has a friend whose dad is a professional bike rider.  He has a lot of bikes and a nice rack on his car, so he's able to take friends riding.  Tuesday was his son's birthday and Bradley is one of his son's friends, so Bradley was invited to go mountain biking.  They all had a blast, especially Bradley.

relatives visit

My brother David and his family (Robin, Philip, and Peter) came over for a visit today.....we took a photo at the end...but I probably should have made us get at a better angle to avoid looking so large and having a patched wall/ripped couch in the background.  (Hey look what I found in the bottom of my drawer Melanee, my Badger shirt!!!)
My brother is so fun to be around and Robin is just the best, kindest, smartest, neatest person.  Their boys are adorable, too.
It's great to spend time with family and watch the cousins play together!
So glad they came over, even though it was for just a very short stay.

Soccer Scrimmage

I am glad there was a scrimmage today because by looking at these photos, I think I'm going to have to re fresh my photography skills.

Bradley's team played the girls u 14 team today in a scrimmage.  It was at 10 this morning, but the temperature was already over 100 degrees before the game even began.   The coach stopped the game every 15 minutes for a water break and some instruction.

Bradley's team (they are called the Force) won 3-0 and Bradley scored one of the goals.

I think they have a lot of work to do and a lot of weak players who need to improve, but they also have some really good talent, too, so it will be interesting to see what the other teams have when the games start.  One sad thing we found out today was that the tournament we planned on playing in THIS MONTH, didn't accept the team, so games now wont start till August.  They've been practicing since the start of April.  Games are way more fun than practice.  I hope they get their uniforms soon, at least!  Maybe they can play some other girls teams!  haha!
