I had my camera with me today at school, so I took some shots of Andrew at lunch and lunch recess with some of his classmates (notice I didn't use the word "friends" haha...just kidding, he gets along with these kids, pretty much

New Flavor Gatorade

Look what William picked up at a gas station on the way home from Utah today.  EWWWW.....cucumber gatorade, who ever thought of THAT and who would even ever like it?????  William just liked the pretty green color, didn't read the label well enough, was thinking a cucumber was a honeydew melon---lol.  Oops and Yuck!

Le Livre

This is what William will be reading out of for the next few years!!!

New Chair

Bradley and Andrew built a new chair all by themselves out of scrap wood.

Elder Paramore's homecoming

Since William is in Utah for one last day, he went up to Washington, Utah (a city near St George???), with some former missionaries who served in our ward, to welcome home another former missionary.  He said he was glad he went!  I told him to send me a picture, I got TWO...haha...what a great kid!

Feeling DOWN

I am BEYOND tired...and Bradley is blowin on a duck call (very annoying)....but I'm feeling allllllllll mad and depressed.  (I know those are different things, but I feel both.)  I guess I can write about it here since I doubt anyone wants to listen to me complain about HOCKEY and FANTASY hockey...haha!  But there are other things bringing me down, too.
Melanee left today and even though she will be back for the wedding....it's like she has left for good.  She has grown up and is on her own now.  I hope we raised her well enough.  I know she doesn't really like us that much and was super happy to get out of here....those things make me sad.

And William got fired.  He really needed to keep that job, he was making tons of money.  He needs money for France.  I don't know where he can get a job that pays as much here...in fact, I dont know if he can even find ANY job here.

And my soccer team is SO bad.  Like ridiculously, embarassingly BAD.  They really cant do ANYTHING right.  We did score ONE goal today, yeah, the other team kicked it in for us, that's how we got it.  (Later we kicked one in for them, to thank them for the favor, I guess.)
And I don't know if you know much about Fantasy Hockey...but now that I've figured out how it works and how to earn points....I want to win.  I even have pretty good goalies on my roster...but I never seem to play them on the right days.  For example, Jonathan Quick...he lost two games this week, and had a terrible percentages, so today I played Elliott instead.  He has the best percentages in the LEAGUE.  But his coach didn't play him today, and Quick earned a shut out.  If I would have played Quick I would have gotten a WIN and a SHUTOUT point.  ANNNNNNDDDD, I still have Sidney Crosby on my roster, but he still doesn't play....wasting a space on my roster.  My favorite hockey players in the UNIVERSE are Patrick Marleau, Sidney Crosby, and Dustin Brown...in no order, I like them all!!!!  Well, they killed me this week in Fantasy because (*see reason above for Sidney) Brown scored 5 goals this week and had a bunch of assists, Marleau scored 3 or 4 goals this week and had a bunch of assists.....and they were BOTH on the team I was playing against!  BOO.

And the Sharks, a big reason for my anger and depression....****(lol, I read a funny thing recently that may apply to me....haha....it went something like- "When your reaction to a sports team losing a game is on par with being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, you should reassess your life."  haha, oh my, I hope I am not THAT bad!!!!!)
Here are my thoughts anyway, then hopefully I can let it all go---
1.)  Jumbo would rather pass than shoot.  That is messed up.  In fact, have actually seen him pull up on a BREAKAWAY to look for a pass!  SHOOT JUMBO.
2.)  Jumbo is NOT a "leader", so laid back and never sticks up for his guys....look how big he is, he could pound down in a fight, but I dont think I've ever seen him fight.  Chicken!
3.) Ryane Clowe fights tooooo much.  Calm down, DUDE.  And stop slamming doors.  Stop grabbing people sticks, stop slamming people into walls, stop tripping them, and stop holding them.  ANNNOYING.  And Logan DOES NOT need you to stick up for him anymore.  He's no longer a rookie.  I wouldnt even mind a TRADE involving Clowe and I hate trades!
4.) speaking of trades.  Can we just have Seto and Heater back.  Why did they get traded away anyway....the Sharks were SO good last year and the reason they got knocked out of the playoff was because of that stanchion and injuries, keep the team together....I mean, keep them all the better White, Wallin, Huskins, Mayers, and Scotty Nichol.  That team was WAY better than the new White, Vandermeer, Winchester, the Murray who already got sent to the minors, this new Moore, who is already hurt, Havlat who hasn't done a thing but forget how to get onto the ice, and Burns, who is hot and cold.  I want LAST YEARS team.  I really miss Huskins.  The good White is a top line defender for DETROIT, Mayers has scored some goals for CHICAGO.  They are better than these guys.  (Although I do like Handzus.)
5.)Niemi is BAD.  He is BAD.  NO GOOD.  Ok, ok, so he does have a "ring", but he is average.  Mediocre.  He doesn't often "steal" games.  He very often "loses" games.  I have an idea.  Let's play Nieme and Greiss AT THE SAME TIME and just have two forwards and two defenders.  With them, in all their gear, standing in the goal mouth, it would be a shut out, all the Sharks would have to do would be to score 1.  As it is now, they always have to score 4 or 5 to have a chance to win.  That's too hard to do in hockey.  Goalkeeping and defense (and luck) are SO important.

6.)White is horrid.  White is slow, not very smart, and he needs to be BENCHED.  (Or traded)  (or given away for a bag of pucks)

7.)Patrick Marleau is a good hockey player.  The coach needs to stop switching the lines.  Sometimes Patty gets stuck out there with the likes of Mitchell and McGinn.  Oh boy, that must be frustrating for him.  I wish there was a stat for "whiffs" McGinn would have that.  And if there was a stat for skating aimlessly but fast everywhere, Mitchell would lead that category.  The Shark spend so much time in the penalty box that Patrick Marleau has to spend so much energy on the Penalty Kill, when he should be resting for a regular shift even strength.  I like him.  Have I ever mentioned that.  He's pretty awesome.  I hope he wins the cup.

8.)The coach played Dan Boyle hurt for six weeks...I SURE hope he is NOT playing Niemi injured.  A few weeks ago Niemi was injured in practice in a lower body sensitive area, but he came back after missing just one game.  He hasn't played well since.  Is he still hurt????  Hope not coach.

9.)Can the Sharks get a new special teams coach.  They are terrible at both Power Play and Penalty Kill.  Coaches cant really WIN games, but they can sure lose them.

10.)I hate line shuffling.  HATE.  I know 'hate' is a strong word, but I hate line shuffling.  DOES NOT EVER work.

11.)Dont trade Pavs, trade Clowe.  How bout Clowe for Dustin Brown!!!!  Do IT!!!!!  I'd be the happiest hockey fan on the planet.

12.)  David, I know I was unreasonable with my argument that Jimmer is/was good....but do not try to tell me that Patrick Marleau is bad.  Don't tell me that he is lazy, soft, or GUTLESS.  That's a warning, David.  I am not a "fan girl" I know hockey.....watch him, he is always trying, working, getting into place, shooting.

Coaches stop giving them days off for wins.  Work them.  Teach them.  Study the tapes, have them prepared.  No fan can say the team "doesn't want it".  duh, they want "it" WAY more than any fan.  I think the Sharks have tons of talent.  I put blame for these losses on the coaches for not having the team prepared and for playing White and Niemi so much, when there are OTHER...BETTER options!!!
Here is the ranking of this year's "favorites"---
Patty
Logan
Vlasic
Boyle
Pavs
Braun
Burns
Handzus
Murray
Wingles
McGinn
Mitchell
Demers
Greiss
Jumbo
Desjardins
Ferriero
Winchester
Clowe
Vandermeer
Moore
Havlat
White
Niemi

agree or disagree?????

who wants soccer pics?

this photo makes it look like today was the most beautiful soccer day of all time, but what pictures do not show is WIND and it was WINDY!  Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!  But the sun was out and the sky was clear...but it was C O L D.

Andrew is #12 on the black team (up in the air).

Andrew is a great goalie, but he hates it.  A few seasons ago, when I wasn't his coach, the coach used to FORCE him to play goalie (cuz he's good) but when goals would be scored on him, the coach would yell at Andrew...so he hates goalie cuz he feels like it's his fault if the other team scores....but I tell him (and all the kids), "the ball just passed 8 kids before it got to you...it is NOT your fault!".  Today Andrew actually VOLUNTEERED to play goalie...that is a FIRST.  He did great, too!  He can kick the ball to the half way line (most kids cant kick it out of the penalty box or into the air even).

doesn't it look like Andrew's teammates are about to take the ball from him.....they still don't understand the go out for a pass or spread out yet!!!!

Bradley is #7 on the blue team.  He played very well today, but he gets so frustrate at his team because many of them don't play soccer the way Bradley wants....he would like everyone to pass it to him everytime and he'd like for the other team's defense to let him go past them every time.  Not going to happen!

I think you can kind of tell it was windy in this picture...
look at Bradley's shirt, and that other guys HAIR!!!!
What a head of hair!!!!

airport, again

I took Melanee to the Sacramento airport once again.  She was very excited to go.  She starts her new job on Monday in San Antonio.  I cant wait to hear how she likes it!!!

there is a big piece of "art" at the new terminal at the Sac airport....it is a large rabbit...which is WEIRD!

bye, Melanee!

cutting down a tree

Melanee has been working mornings with Scott, here's a photo of her chopping down a tree, like George Washington.  Well, not exactly, since her chopping tool is different.  It was Melanee's last day of work....she leaves at 3:00 am to go to Texas.

The Banshee

A group of people got together after work today at a downtown restaurant (or bar, haha) called the Banshee.  If you live in Chico and like good food and a LOUD atmosphere, you should try it!  I had a great time and enjoyed getting together with these co workers.  Not a lot came, but there were enough that there were two groups talking...any more would have made it even harder to try to talk to everyone.  I hope I get invited again.  I think the "staff" do things like this all the time, but never really include the "yard duties".  But it's funny, we were ALL there this time!  haha, yeah, we want to be included and want to feel liked.  We are important, too!

sleeping

This does NOT look like a comfortable way to sleep.....does it

Torrey Mitchell/Dax

Please tell me you see some similarities between Torrey Mitchell from the Sharks and Dax, Melanee's fiance!

2/22/12

Family Home Evening

Monday was Melanee's very last family home evening with our family.  Scott said she could pick anything she wanted to do....she picked the "spin around game".

Afterwards, we went to Rite Aid and bought ice cream and then to Safeway and rented the movie, "A Dolphin's Tail".  Rite Aid didn't have the flavor of ice cream we wanted "Cherry Chip", but the movie was pretty good.  Not GREAT, but not BAD either.

yes,  a coat of paint really makes a difference

Cinnamon Rolls

Melanee can move on with her life now because I taught her something valuable----haha----HOW TO MAKE homemade cinnomon rolls from scratch.  They turned out wonderfully, too!

Snow Igloos

Bradley went with a bunch of Boy Scouts and leaders on a camping trip this weekend.  They camped near Mount Lassen.  It hasn't been snowing much in the mountains (or anywhere) this year, so there was not enough snow to dig snow caves.  Instead, they built snow igloos.  One of the leaders brought a igloo maker along.  It was basically a rectangle shaped thing that the kids would shove snow into to make big brick like snow cubes.  It took them about 3 hours to build their igloo.  Bradley, Eli, and Brian slept in it that night and they said they were warm enough.  I'm glad Eli (a 13 year old!!!!!) had an i phone and was able to take these photos.

Scraping

We are trying to get the house and yard ready for wedding guests....gotta paint the fence, but before that the old paint needs to be removed.  The kids didn't agree, but they went out there and scraped and scraped and scraped.  Now who wants to paint it?????

Andrew's Soccer Wk #2

I can not tell you how happy I am that Andrew is playing soccer this season and he's having fun.  He's also a good player and teammate.  He's a wonderful son.  I enjoy coaching him and the other little guys.  That said, UGHHHHHHHHHHHH, this season is going to be LLLLLOOOONNNNNGGGGGGG, these kids are nice and they are fun to be around, but they sure DO NOT KNOW soccer.  I coach and I teach and I explain and I even yell out instructions and they JUST DON'T get it!  ohhhhhh my!  We lost again today 7-3. My team has some good players, some fast kids, some aggressive kids, and some lazy kids, some slow kids, some tiny kids, some indifferent kids......I guess all the teams are made up of a mixture of traits, but my team just needs to JELL somehow and use their strengths!  Coaching soccer stuff should be easy for me because I've been around soccer so much and I can see what needs to be done, but I don't know how to get them to do it!
Andrew is tall, fast, smart, and strong.  I hope he has a good season.  I can see him get frustrated, and I really want to somehow avoid that.....cuz a frustrated Andrew is a worthless Andrew.   He bounces back pretty easily, though, so that's good.  We are home now and he hasn't mentioned the game at all.  (good!)  I feel bad that his basketball team is horrible, now his soccer team is horrible (so far).....it builds character, though, RIGHT?????

We played his friend from school, Kevin,'s team today.  That's Andrew #12 in black, and Kevin in red facing the camera.  I bet Kevin will be bragging at school on Tuesday, hope not TOO much, though.
