the condo

these photos will most be enjoyed by David, Kenny, and dad!

No we did not stay in a condo on this trip to Tahoe, but while driving around the lake (yes, we drove completely around the lake!) I saw the road to get to the place where my family used to stay when we went to Lake Tahoe, so I showed the kids...the place was pretty empty, so we parked, and I took some photos.

Tahoe part 2

I took over 200 pictures...here are a few more for now....

A few Tahoe pictures

I will write about the trip later, but enjoy these photos now.

Truck WRECK

We came upon TONS of flares and orange triangle things in the road and didn't know what they were for until we were stopped for a HUGE truck turned on it's side, crashed into a tree. We saw them remove someone on a stretcher and taken away by an ambulence....but the person on the stretcher was all covered except for his feet, he wasn't moving, and the ambulence guys were walking slow, then drove away slowly...so we think the driver may have been dead.

William's cross country camp

We picked William up last night and I could tell that he was having fun, and had fun during his 2 day camping trip with the cross country team...here's a picture I took...but HOPEFULLY there will be more on his camera and I will blog about his trip later.

Jenga

We got a new game today, something to play on our camping trip....but we broke it out tonight, and Andrew loved it...kept him entertained for HOURS!

CrOsS cOuNtRy CaMp

William took a camera with him, but I'm pretty sure I wont be getting many pictures, so I took some of the group gathering in front of the school, loading cars, and waiting to leave.

PASL Championship t shirt

I wanted to get a picture of Melanee's t-shirt from the soccer tournament, but she thinks it is too big to wear, so here she is holding it.

Bradley Camping

Bradley got to go camping this weekend with our friends the Driscolls....here is a picture of him with his friend...they were getting ready to ride a wave runner on Lake Alamanor. Don't they look happy???

Andrew

Andrew was NOT happy to be at the soccer park to watch William tonight. All day long he complained that he wanted to get out of the house and 'do something", then when we finally go somewhere, to do something, he whined and complained the whole time. Very Annoying.

He did find a way to entertain himself for a while...he would kick the ball up into the air, then when it was on its way down, he would head it....it was a hard ball, it nearly knocked him out.

William's soccer game

William is #5, the one with red socks on the grey team.

He will probably claim he was being tripped on this play.

For Family Home Evening tonight, we all went and watched William play soccer on Luis's team. It was fun to watch...the heat was actually not so bad in the shade and a breeze....and William got some exercise. Andrew kept asking what we were going to do for Family Home Evening, but I kept having to tell him, "this is it." He didn't like that. He thought the game was "boring"

1st letter from Spain

Melanee received her first letter from her missionary in Spain today. Elder Cameron Cook is in the Spain, Madrid MTC for the next 4 weeks, then on to Barcelona. She let me read the letter, he sounds GREAT!!!! It made Melanee's day! Yep, she's in love.

Watch THIS!

I didn't take much video (because I'd rather watch the game, and you can't REALLY see what is going on through that little screen on the camera...I also don't like my voice recorded on the video, so when I am video taping, I can't cheer, so I usually just sit holding my camera)....but I took this little section of video, which SORT OF shows Melanee playing well.....but BELIEVE me, she had a lot more HIGHLIGHTS, which I didn't capture on film...but if you watch this you can see her take a few shots, run fast, and look cute while doing it...so ENJOY!!!! (She is #4 on the team with the royal blue pennies...the coach thought it was going to be HOT (it WAS)...but since it was going to be hot, she brought the pennies to wear instead of the jerseys....just about all the girls just wore the pennies, but they are TOTALLY see through, I mean TOTALLY....Melanee wore her t shirt under her penny (or is it called a pinnie??).....so much more modest!!!)

Uploading ANY video takes forever...but this one is pretty long (compared to others I have ever uploaded...so I am starting to wonder if it is even working or going to work...but I don't want to start over.......so I'll keep waiting.....)

(the video I tried to upload to here DIDN'T work ( I tried 3 times) . It was 1.5 minutes long, maybe that is too long....so I just put this short, out of focus video on to replace the good one, so that you can watch SOMETHING---

I guess I could blog some more---

Melanee goes back to school on Aug 9th, she actually leaves here on Aug 8th at 11:59 PM, so she will fly all night and arrive at 11:00 or so. Her team meets and starts practice on Monday the 10th. They have things to do that day like turn in their paper work, get it all checked in and approved, see the trainer, he checks for things like concussions, and probably pick up their player packets, which I don't think will be ready in time...because the coach is just ordering them now....but this year they are supposed to be getting NIKE brand warm ups and t shirts and polo shirts, so they will be much nicer than the player packs they were given last year (which Melanee didn't even get a warm up jacket!!!!!) (that's ok, everyone else's were sized wrong and ripped, faded and fell apart before the season was even over...). Melanee will also be the first of all her roommates to arrive in Buena Vista, so she will get to pick her room and bed. That's exciting. She has a whole list of stuff to do the first few weeks there before school starts, like line up a job, talk to her counselor about her schedule, finalize plans for a soccer team service project, buy her books, declare her major, I can't think of all the stuff, but I know she has a lot.

Can you tell that I am excited for her?

I think she had a good summer.....It went by fast for me. I have really enjoyed having her home. It has also been fun for me to watch her play indoor soccer.....I really hope her team makes Nationals again and that I can go again. Last year was SO fun and memorable. This year Nationals are supposed to be in Pennsylvania, I think, and the stadium is indoor, even though it's an outdoor field (if that makes sense?) but it should be warmer INSIDE than it was last year in Vermont on October 31st!!!! C-O-L-D......so, cold!!!!

Melanee is taking 17 units this semester. (Is that a lot?) Since Cameron is in SPAIN, I think she should be getting more sleep this semester...that will help...and with Cameron in SPAIN, I think she should be more focused on school....so I think 17 is a good amount of units?????? (I hope)

She wants to be on the 5 meal plan and eat the rest of the time at her apartment.... I wish she would just eat at the cafeteria....it worries me that she wont be getting enough nutrition if she is shopping and cooking for herself, especially during soccer season, she will need to be eating WELL, from all the food groups, in larger amounts....I hope she doesn't just eat yucky, cheap, non nutritional stuff...I really worry about that!!!! I did buy her a cookbook to take back with her, maybe she will take some time to cook something good......maybe she will eat chocolate chip pancakes EVERY meal????? (I hope not.)

There is a chance that Cameron's parents will let her drive his car, which will be good so that she can get to the store to buy some healthy foods.....but with that new "cash for clunkers" rule that passed, they may just sell it while they can.....She also wants the car so that she can go to the neighboring college and play in their pick up games at night...but Scott HATES when she does that because she might get hurt. (That would be bad.) (She did get hurt playing there last year.....she called us and said that she thought she BROKE her leg......so his worries are not fake!) (and the medical bills were not FAKE either).

I don't know if this video is getting any closer to being done, but it keeps "autosaving" and the thing is swirling around, so I know it is not frozen and SOMETHING is happening, so I guess I'll keep typing.

I was mad at the sports headlines on AOL and the post game coverage by ESPN of the Galaxy game last night.....the Galaxy and the Wizards tied 1-1. The headlines on AOL read something like "Beckhams assist leads Galaxy to 1-1 tie".. WHAT?!?!?! What?!?!?! I mean---WHAT!!! Where is the name of the player who SCORED the goal....and did they SEE that assist???/ It was nothing more than a PASS, which Landon Donovan (yes my favorite player (along with Carlos)) dribbled up field and shot and scored the game tying goal....shouldn't the press be about the GOAL SCORER, not the guy who just ASSISTED the GOAL SCORER....then ESPN interviews Beckham and gives him all the props.....a tie, not that newsworthy....and assist, again, not that news worthy....How many other MLS games were played that day? How many other scores did we see poping up on our AOL screen? How many other games were even talked about on Sportscenter or MLS scored were even written on the bottom ticker on ESPN????? the answer- NONE, just the Galaxy and JUST Beckham's assist was mentioned! Crazy, I know? And did you see the fine MLS handed out to him for scuffling with some fans last week???? $1,000 dollars, that is NOTHING compared to what he makes! He probably had that much money in his pocket.

Oregon Coast Scenery

These are sooooooo beautiful, I think I may just pick one to be my title picture....but which one???

Boy Scout Camp Merriweather

Here are the 5 pictures William took during his 7 days at scout camp. (that's less than a picture a day!!!)
