Corner Kick

Another Picture especially for Richard

Roanoke Paper

I did a "search" for Melanee on the Internet and found an article (actually it was a "brief") that said that Melanee scored the game winning goal in overtime to help the Southern Virginia men's soccer team defeat Christendom.

LOL...the "men's" team!!!!!!!!!

Another Picture (for Richard)

"We killed 20 ducks and 7 geese," said Bradley.

Bradley's class field trip

I was one of the chaperones on Bradley's field trip to the Gold Nugget Museum to learn about the maidu Indians. I ran the station where we made Bullroarers. We drilled, sanded, and decorated them. If you spin them in the air they make a loud noise that sounds like a power lawn trimmer.
Here's the group of 6 boys I drove up there. (I'm glad I have hearing loss.)

Modoc Refuge Youth Hunt 9-27-08

I told Scott to get some pictures. He took this kind....I wanted those cute ones with the boys standing at the refuge with the pond in the background and all the fall colors holding their ducks, with the dog sitting next to them......oh well Richard and Scott's brothers will enjoy this picture!

No more BRACES

Last Wednesday Bradley finally got his braces off.

That darn Praying Mantis

During our soccer game a few weeks ago there was a praying mantis on the sideline. It had the kids attention MORE than the soccer game!

William's Football Picture

Football Fridays

When Melanee played on the PV soccer team I had a PV Soccer

shirt that I wore almost EVERY game day. So this year, I bought myself a PV Football shirt to wear on William's game days. Bradley also got a shirt....and Andrew wanted the hat. So here we are in our PV fan clothes.

Ward AppleFest

Bradley entered the pie eating contest!

Andrew wanted me to take a picture of him and Martin Luther King Jr. for the blog.
He got up there and smiled...then started to jump down. I said, "Hey, wait, let me take another one", but he jumped down instantly-----that marble statue, sitting out in the sun all day, was BURNING his feet.

Andrew Soccer Game

I brought my camera to Andrew's game today and got some good shots. Andrew wanted me to put some on the blog.

more info on the game

I got to talk to Melanee.

I asked her how she scored. She said that she was half way between the half line and the 18 yard line and she got fouled. So she got a penalty kick. She grabbed the ball as quick as she could, set it down, and before the other team got their wall set up, before anyone was ready, she kicked the ball and it went into the bottom corner of the goal (I'm not sure if it was right or left). She said that she got announced over the loud speaker at the end of the game as the "player of the game". And if you look at the SVU website....there is a picture of her in action (it's actually a picture from a game a few weeks ago, but I still like it! Better than a picture from last season, like they've been using.

The other goal came off of a corner kick she kicked, so she got an assist also!

Another game winner

Melanee's phone broke, so I haven't talked to her yet...but I searched the school web site and the web site of the school they were playing every 5 minutes until I found out who won. Melanee's team won 2-0. It was played in Pennsylvania where it rained the whole game. Her goal was unassisted. And they scored a second goal on a corner kick. 2-0 win! Now I really want to talk to her. I hope she barrows a phone and calls me SOON.

Exciting

Melanee's game today was a "home" game (meaning-played at her school in Virginia), (not here). They only have 2 home games this season. So this was their last home game. The school is small and low budget, but they had a "web broadcast" of this one (only this one) game. (They do all the football and basketball games). Anyway, I get off of work at 1:00 and the game started at 1:00, plus the web site said that the broadcast would start 5 minutes before the game for line ups and such. I got off a little early, rushed home, turned on the computer and NOTHING. No broadcast. I tried EVERYTHING....I even called the school! Then at about maybe 1:10 (so I missed 10 minutes) it actually began to work.
It was 0-0, so I guess I hadn't missed much. I could tell that Melanee was playing sweeper. I was excited for her because she was just complaining to me a few days ago that the coach didn't think she was much of a sweeper. And the girl he plays at sweeper, is a natural stopper.....so about 20 minutes into the game there was a substitiution...at that point the game was even, back and forth, no real control. On that substitution, Melanee and Tamara (the one who had played sweeper the past 5 games) were switched, Melanee became the attacking center mid. So I kept listening, and I could hear Melanee's name a lot more. The announcers were excited by her moves, her corner kicks, passes, speed, hustle, etc... It was fun to listen to. But the score stayed 0-0. About ten minutes after the half, the other team scored. Then there was about 20 more minutes of shots and misses. Then Melanee SCORED. WOO-Hoo, tie game 1-1. The game went on, but ended in a tie. So they had overtime. They play two ten minute over time periods, with sudden death scoring. Close to ten minutes into the hard fought over time period Melanee recieved the ball near the half line, she dribbled around MANY Christendom players, took the ball all the way into the box, shot, and SCORED the GAME WINNING goal!!!!! And I got to listen to it all. (Except the first 10 minutes.)
I wish I could have been there to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Games

Bradley scored 2 goals in his game to help his team win 5-3. It was actually a close game. We scored then they scored then we scored, then they scored, back and forth. Everytime they scored I would put either Bradley or Eric at forward and they would quickly go in and score. Jonathan also scored a goal.
Andrew's team tied 0-0. I missed his game because it was at the same time as Bradley's, but I'll get to see the rest of the games this season.
Melanee also had a game. The scored ended up 0-1, they lost. From what I've heard, Melanee played really good. The other team did a lot of "taking her out". The other team was a very good team, but Melanee still felt like her team could have won. She said after the other team scored a lot of the players on her team got discouraged and didn't play as well. She was frustrated with the whole game. She still wishes they had a better goalie. She says their uniforms feel like they are made of a "fake Under Armor" material that feels terrible. It makes you sweat, the sweat stays there, and when you try to wipe it off, there's no place to wipe it because the material is already completly saturated with water. She doesn't like them at all. She is #17, just like in high school and Butte United soccer.

Vikings beat LP

I hate that the cheerleaders stand on stools right in front of the fans so we cant see the game, I actually hate that they are even there....they are so annoying, don't sound good, don't motivate anyone, look bad in their long socks, cant dance, and they have the world fakest smiles! Get rid of them already! So annoying!!! If you look past the wall of cheerleaders, past the wall of 30 or 40 sideline "players" and onto the field...William is in there making a block!
On these next two pictures William is on the kick off team, running down field to make some more blocks.

they went fishing again

Scott likes to go fishing. He found a good place to go, so they have gone the past 3 Saturdays. William went this time and caught the big fish. They also took our friend Richard. I enjoyed them being gone, they enjoyed being gone.

soccer season has begun

Andrew is on the Vikings, they are light blue. He is #12. In this picture he is the goalie.
Bradley is on the Scorpions. They are green. He is #7.

William #72

William got a lot of playing time tonight. I think he even got a sack!!! I also saw a tackle that he made all by himself, and if he wouldn't have made it there was no one else behind him...the guy would have scored.

Angry Andrew

Andrew was mad when I pulled his tooth out!!!!!!!

just a funny picture

lost tooth

The other day I looked in Andrew's mouth and there was a tooth growing in, but the baby tooth was still there too. I DO NOT want to ever pay for another child to get braces, so I pulled out the baby tooth. It wasn't very loose, still had a lot of root, bled a lot, and hurt, but it is out....now hopefully the big tooth will move forward into the slot where it's supposed to be.
