My Favorite Things: N

You know, this Favorite Things A-Z is actually quite fun, I must say. Maybe not for you, dear reader, but for me it is. And after all, isn't this whole thing about me? :) Just kidding. No, I really am enjoying it though. I'm realizing all kinds of things about myself. Plus, who doesn't love to give the dictionary a good read every now and again? ;)

Nathan:

My sweet nephew whom I adore more than life itself. I was out of the country when he was born and for the first 2 weeks of his life. It practically killed me. The first year of his life, I got to spend copious amounts of time with him and have established a great bond. He cracks me up with his hair brained ideas and brilliance, makes me cry with his simple, pure testimony of the gospel and love for me, and makes me shake my head with his little quirks and craziness. My life has been richer because he's been in it. I can't believe my little man will be 8 in a couple months. It makes me feel old. :)

Nadine:

My Canadian Kumquat!!! She and I met when we were roommates at Brookside Village in college back in 2003. We lived together for 2 1/2 years until she graduated and left me behind for bigger and better things. She is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada and has dubbed me an Honorary Canadian. I love it! I don't get to see her or talk to her as often as we used to, but we both know that we're here for each other whenever. I have so many memories with her in them and am blessed to get to call her my friend. She's an amazing woman and someday, her prince charming will come riding into her life and sweep her off her feet, whether she's wearing Nikes or Minolos. And he'll be one of the luckiest guys to walk this earth!

Nectarines:

You know, I'm such a weirdy. I hate peaches. Hate them. Maren loves them, of course, but I ... well, I think they are gross. I'll eat them if I must and have practiced so that no one even knows, but secretly, I'm hating it. BUT... I LOVE nectarines. I really do. They are very similar, it's true. But, it really comes down to one thing... I don't like my fruit to be covered in hair first. I'm weird like that. Meat... sure. But fruit, not so much. So, I eat nectarines instead. And boy are they yummy!

Natalie:

Ah, my sweet friend. Natalie and I have known each other since 7th grade. At just 13, we found one another and latched onto each other for dear life. We had friends come and go through the years, but we never lose contact with each other. She lives in Twin Falls now (about 2 1/2 hours from here) with her 3 cute kiddos and her sassy pants hubby, Jon. We try to see each other when they come to town. After 16 years, I'm glad to know that our friendship will always be there. She's wonderful and I love her to pieces!

Napping:

Who doesn't love a great nap? Seriously. When you've worked your butt off all morning and gotten tons accomplished, who doesn't love to fall asleep all snuggled up on the couch or on your bed? I prefer naps when the sunshine is all streaming in, I'm wrapped in a blanket and it's just a little chilly outside. Perfection.

Novels:

Uh... books! Are you seeing a theme here, folks? If not, you should. Enough said. :)

Nicolee Olee O:

Oh gosh, I sure love Nicole! She and I met in our Single's Branch back the fall of 2009. We immediately became friends and since then, she has actually married and been sealed to an awesome guy that I have known almost my whole life. His family and my family have been friends a LONG time. We went cruising with this family actually. Now, she's all married and has two of the most adorable kids and is happy. And I'm so grateful that we get to stay friends and keep in contact the rest of our lives! She makes me laugh my head off and is so great! Love you!

Texts Out of Context

So I follow a blog of a girl who sometimes posts these "Texts out of context" posts that I find completely hysterical. And she said on her blog not so very long ago that she does it in the hopes that someone who reads it will do the same. I was reading through some old texts a bit ago with the mindset that I was going to delete them when I realized that some were quite comical.

This is how it works, you go through your phone and randomly select things that either you have sent or others have sent to you and you just put the text in here. No explanations. Some comments are related in some way, but most are not. It's pretty great.

So, here is my very first installation of "Texts Out Of Context"

"I have a hickey."

"feeling like poop may come home early. we will see though"

"I will fong u! until ur outsides r in, ur insides r out! pain! name that movie!"

"Why she sucked"

"Dah fusa!!! New york giants ya fweaks! Name that movie!"

"Thanks i need to get back on the floor. I love you"

"Lol! Are you the proud new owner?"

"Oh and i'm naked right now ;)"

"I thought i heard that in your brain"

"Sorry melt down on the floor i've got to go back i love you"

"Google says Arizona lost a leg."

"George fe-he-he-heeny!"

"I will. Going for twins"

"Are you preggo yet???"

"Stop watching that before your eyes fall out!"

"Smells like butt!!!"

"Hey love... Do you have black hooker boots? or something close to it?"

"I don't butter my bread on both sides. Sicko ;)"

"You make them funny :)"

"They are only efficient what percent of the time? Shouldn't they put that on the box? :)"

"You know, bun in the oven"

"Grumble away! I love you too.... Of course you could be peppermint..."

So... it's not nearly so funny when I know the context. I hope others will find enjoyment though. :)

Favorite Things: M

There are lots here, so I'm going to jump on into it...

Musicals:

There may or may not have been several people in my life tell me that I'm a little like a musical. I will break out into song and dance whenever possible. And my only response is.... Well Why The Heck Not?! Musicals just speak to me. I do not profess to have a strong or even that great of a singing voice. And I can't dance worth beans. BUT, that doesn't mean that I didn't wish life were like a musical. Haven't you ever just been walking down the street, seen something that sparked a song in your head, and immediately you are forced to squelch that foreboding tingling you get in your feet warning of a song and dance number about to burst out of you? Oh.... you haven't.... Well, just walk on the opposite side of the street of me from now on. That is, unless you want to be caught in the middle of our very own mini flash mob that only includes you and I. K? :)

Modern Family:

Here again, just as in Grey's Anatomy, I know I shouldn't watch this show. Some of the jokes are a bit inappropriate, but I'm telling you what... I get the giggles every time I watch this show anyway! My sissy sue, Alan and I are constantly quoting it and we cannot wait for Wednesday nights because we know it's going to be on.

The Middle:

This show is another addiction to the Tube that I wish I didn't have, but unlike Modern Family, it's actually got a pretty good message associated with each episode. It's about this family who is so perfect right down the middle of life. They are middle class, have a house that is nice enough but always breaking down, have 3 kids, mom and dad work to try to make ends meet, etc, etc, etc. Sound familiar? That's because you and I both know you have 18 of those families just down the road from you. I love it because it shows that just because you are middle of the road, doesn't mean that isn't exactly where you want to be.

Moms:

I have a plethora of Moms in my life. I think Heavenly Father must feel like I need them or something. It's pretty crazy. I have a mom who birthed me, a mom who helped raise me, a mom who's married to my dad, a mom in law, Maren's mom, and a multitude of other women in my life who have filled that mom role when I needed it (and still do even though I don't need it as much). But for better or worse, I'm one of those lucky people who have many different women that I can look to for guidance that only moms can give. The only sticky part is when they work together to bring you in line. Yikes...

Melissa:

Sister.... Ah, my sister. Here again is someone that I have written about previously, so you should just go there and read her post all about her. HERE

Monkeys:

I love monkeys. I have always wished that I could just swing around and hang out in trees all day. Haven't you? I don't love them quite as much as I love otters because otters get to hang out in water all day. But still... monkeys are awesome! They are super cute. And really, I love decorating little boys rooms with them. They make some stinkin cute nursery decor with monkeys. My Grandpa Street owned a monkey once. I'm being serious. When he came back from India when he was in the Army. But that's another story for another day...

Maren:

Oh boy... I don't know what to say here other than that there is a post dedicated all to her that is coming. So watch for that.

Massages:

There. Are. No. Words. If you haven't ever had a massage, go get one. You won't regret it. I LOVE having massages. There is a gal here in IF who has massaged me for several years now when I can afford to go and I absolutely love it. She's so good. She's very professional, so it never feels weird. The room is always dim, the sheets covering the massage table are always warm and clean, the music is always soft and sets the right tone. You walk into the room and you can actually feel your stress and tension melting off you like a popsicle on the 4th of July. Hit me up if you want some info on her! It's awesome! One of my favorite things in the whole world!!!
