Alright!

I LOVE movie monsters so I picked on of the classics! It's the Creature form the Black Lagoon! looks like some fly fisherman got his hook in there and ticked him off some. There is something really timeless about these guys that always makes me smile. a fun week for DRAWW!

brau: Goliath

Sorry for the late post. I did this the day the Gargoyles post went up. But i have been busy with work and errands and i had no time to add color to this. Maybe i will sometime later. But anyways.

I chose Goliath, and i decided to make him look a little more exaggerated and inked in a comic style, with broad proportions but not so animated. Pretty common pose as well. I hope i do something more exciting with the new theme coming up. It was fun to draw tho.

Theme: Movie Monsters

Since it's Halloween coming up our theme will be Movie Monsters! Any monster that has been in a movie good or bad, big or small. Here's a list if you are hav'n trouble. If you can't decide which one to do feel free to do as many as you want!

My late night choice is gargoyle Lexington... funny looking character and a great show from what I can remember.

Hooray!

I did up my favorite gargoyle Broadway! Here he is dual wielding some sandwiches to keep his warriors figure.

I was always a big fan of the show Gargoyles and loved whenever they got ticked off their eyes would go pure white and they'd whoop ass. I remember when Broadway accidentally shot the Spanish cop lady with her own gun and was all guilt ridden, poor guy!

It was a quick job but a fun one this week, i'm going to try and be more painted and less graphic in the coming weeks.

New Theme: Gargoyles

This one's not completely done. I tried to approach it like a magic card assignment this week. Here's a pack of hounds lookin for some meat.

Toyebot: Moon-beast

Ok well I chose these creepy Moon-beasts...toad-like creatures with pink tentacles for mouths and without any eyes. How gross is that! Found this image too..yuck.

joute: Dark Young

Super busy this weekend but got to do up a quick Dark Young! These little horrors have three cloven feet and horrible mouths attached to a lump of a body. Then in true Lovecraftian fashion, three tentacles sport atop the wretched mass, reaching for anything to crush and claim for the dark woods!

I've always liked the description on these guys and they were represented really well in the Call of Cthulhu card game.

Hooray!

This week I decided to do those disgusting space lobster-fungus the Horribly removed Mi-go! These guys were always a favorite of mine, space surgeons with just enough B-movie grossness to really be a super scourge from the stars. I love that they yank out human's brains and cram them into cylinders to take them on cosmic journeys and wield mist-projectors and lightning cannons.

Depending on the amount of submissions I think we should stretch Lovecraft's theme again and get another week on here!

Theme: Lovecraftian Mythos

This week we're gonna get spooky!

It's Everyone's favorite Mythos; the Lovecraftian one! so bust out your quills and get crackin' on some space kraken! Take a bash at everyone's favorite squid-face Cthulhu! Or if you're feeling a little adventurous, why not a vicious Gug? Or a Nightgaunt mayhaps? Heck! just draw the Damned Necronomicon for all I care!

here's a great list of monster descriptions and there are a pile of other references on the web! Good luck and don't awaken too many ancient horrors while you're at it!

Toyebot: Quicksilver

I went with the leader of the Silverhawks, Quicksilver. I thought he looked the coolest though mostly with his mask on! Sketched this in Photoshop so its a little messy. Cheers.

To be honest I've felt that Silverhawks really fell short of being a great show. I guess my expectations were too high when I heard that it was from the same guys that brought us Thundercats.

I chose to do Windhammer! This crazy weather controlling dude with a giant tuning fork. The bad guys in Silverhawks were some pretty crazy dudes but it seemed like the only danger that ever hit the Hawks was when Mon-star went all crazy and grew bigger and rode around on his space squid.

DRAWW! was fun this week! lets get some more stuff done!

This weeks theme is SilversHawks! Another 80s cartoon that deserves some recognition!

Toyebot: Lobster Johnson

My pick is Lobster Johnson, a vigilante usually is killing mobsters but he's giving Hellboy a helping gun or two. Tried to pay homage to Mignola's style and have a simpler color approach.

Hey, so I did Hellboy. that gun looks pretty messed up I'm gonna have to fix it....this is what i have for now though.

jouste: Gruagach

This week I tackled one of my favorite fairy folk that gave our big red hero some problems. It's Gruagach! the very cool shapeshifting warrior that turns into monsters to kill horrible giants! Too bad his girl asked him to show off and got him exiled into the mists but thems the breaks!

Hellboy has been such a giant influence on me it was really great to revisit some of the unsung characters in that awesome mythos. Such a great combo of cryptids and folklore, there's such a great pile of inspiration in there!

Man I was busy this whole weekend but I NEEDED to get a DRAWW in! Hellboy is one of my favorite comics of all time and Mignola has been a huge inspiration for me.

I'm all down for a DRAWW! extension on this one so I could tackle a more mainstream character. Here's My Unmensch! A wicked Nazi-Cyborg that beats up Hellboy a bit before getting massacred by Big Red! Poor dude down there has seemed to get the business end of that chained iron fist!

This week's theme will be everyone's favorite paranormal investigator Hellboy! Created by the super great Mike Mignola, This comic series exploded onto the scene back in '93, the first issue being written by  comic legend John Byrne!

It's Crime Fighting Time! C.O.P.S was one of my favorite cartoons growing up because it had such a cool theme song and at that time these cops looked like the future! My pick was Bulletproof! Updated a bit with a bit of black and cool shades.

Adventure Time!

Late to the Adventure Time party, but I really wanted to do something for this super fun hyper-minimalist style.

I don't remember too many episodes of C.O.P.S but I will never forget seeing Blits and Bowser in the opening ready to take out some crime. I always loved the dog with the klaxon and the K-9 training armor on Bowser. The designs of the show are really loud and burly and they led to some really cool toys too!

Toyebot: BMO

I haven't watched much Adventure Time but now I will have to watch them all. This little guy is so awesome! BMO (Beemo) is a sentient video game console the lives with Finn and Jake. I always wanted my Gameboy to talk back to me when I was a kid. No redesign here just admiration. Had to do this quickly so might come back to it.

Adventure Time is one of my favorite shows. I really like Jake the Dog and his super awesome shape-shifting powers! One of my favorite episodes is when he turns into a battle suit for Finn and they beat up the monster. I didn't have a ton of time to do this weeks DRAWW! so I went for a stylized Jake who's a little meaner than he usually is and rely on some deeps blacks.

There is so many great characters in that show I could probably draw them all and never get sick of it. Great topic guys and it was a ton of fun!

Sweet topic and definitely some of my favorite characters in a game ever!

I ended up picking Wood Man because a robot made out of wood is a ridiculous idea along with a leaf shield as a weapon. I remember that Wood Man was always one of the Robot Masters that I could take on from the very beginning of the game, making me feel like a much better Mega Man player than I probably was or am today. So I thank you Wood Man for you're unbelievable crappyness.

OK, manage to finally get something in and I still have to pack! haha. Changed it up this time and just sketched in photoshop.
This is just Protoman in action, costume isn't a redesign (though I forgot the hair) and its not quite exact either. It is what it is... Have a great weekend!

Theme: Mega Man

 

This week we'll be tackling everyone's favorite blue bomber! It's Mega Man here on DRAWW! (Or Rock Man for those in the know). There is a TON of characters to pick from and this site's set up is really slick with music and everything. So grab a character and get something done!

Hey guys...managed to get something rough out. I chose Roxanne Pelligrinni. I probably strayed from her character i admittedly just wanted to do a badass metal chick. In my mind The Misfits play soul crushing music that tears people limb from limb and when Roxy takes her guitar in hand for a solo...heads explode!

Aja

This is a rough take on Aja based on the pitch designs I showed you guys. Aja was my favourite growing up. She always felt a bit androgynous to me. I was convinced she was a lesbian, but maybe that's just because I have such a girl crush on her.

I'm absolutely unfamiliar with this show but it seems to have some pretty layered characters.

Hooray it's Rapture!

She's the guitarist from the Stingers who's really into fantasy stuff like dragons and griffins. So I decided to make her riding a Speaker headed griffin and wielding her split guitar as some mighty weapons! Taking a heavy metal approach, I was initially going to do Zipper because he looks so much like Henry Rollins but decided that Jem is all about the dames so I better try tackling one of them. It was super fun! good call on the theme!

This week's theme is totally Jem! It's that edgy 80's cartoon containing psychic investigators, heartless thugs, and holographic computer programs! What a rush! have fun this week pals, it's gonna get girly up in here.

there's a lot of nostalgia when ever these guys come up.... all i can remember is late nights with TMNT: lost in time on the genesis.

jouste: Armaggon and Bellybomb

I had to do two! Basically TMNT changed the way I drew and approached character and universe creation as a kid. There is such a crazy robust roster and as a young 'un I aspired to create something as massive as the TMNT universe. I also LOVE Kevin Eastman and his amazing story on how he created one of the most memorable franchises in history. I could probably draw TMNT characters all year because they are usually as silly as the stuff I normally draw but here's what I came up with this week.

Armaggon is one scary character, I'll never forget seeing this cover image as a kid and like losing my mind. A freaking cyborg shark from the future just waiting to snap Leo in half! well Armaggon is so scary I decided to silly him up and make him a little less scary so I could handle drawing him.

Bellybomb is another one that I can pretty much remember from a comic that I had growing up that I got from a local 7-11. All that was really said is that he's a space criminal and his breath is so bad he can knock people out. well his goofy design stuck with me and I just had to revisit a VERY old fave.

Badass Gully

I don't really know Battle Chasers, but I really liked the idea of Gully. A pint-sized girl with HUGE ARMORED HANDS who uses her strength for things sounds pretty badass.
It's about time I updated in this blog - you guys have all been so awesome already. Now I better see some female franchises!
