Mermaid In A Jar-DT Card For The Corrosive Challenge Blog

Hello my darlings,
today I'm sharing the card I made for the newest challenge at
 The Corrosive Challenge Blog.
Our theme this fortnight is,
 Winter Blues.
Create a wintry and/or blue project (note: does not have to be monochromatic but blue should be prominent).
Our sponsor for this challenge is A Day For Daisies

I've chosen to work with the adorable image, Mermaid In A Jar.
How precious!
I've wanted to color up this image for a while now.
I love all of Tammy's images. They're all so fun and whimsical!

The background paper I used is vintage SandyLyon from my stash.
It has all this beautiful distressed silver around the edges.
I dyed the net (cheesecloth) with some of my purple and blue ink sprays.
After I colored the sand, I added Crystal Effects and gold beads and glitter, and then adhered some tiny sea shells to it.
The sentiment, "get well wishes" is from a SU set.
I stamped and added the sentiment to a cut out from another piece of vintage paper that looked 3D. I added 2 glass beads over the 3D printed beads.
I also added some bling and beads to the card.
I did some dry  brushing on the lid of the jar with some Adirondack silver Mixative and a paintbrush.
That mixative is so awesome and I prefer it over a metallic marker.
I added Stickles Stardust to the mermaid tail.
The bottom border is from a sticker sheet I picked up at the dollar store.
I realized, while making this card that I don't have a lot of blue paraphernalia so I guess I need to stock up on some blue schtuff!
My local scrapbook store had a 50% sale off store wide for 2 weeks and I was able to stock up on some fun goodies! Funny how nothing blues found it's way into my shopping basket.
I made a visit to the store 3x so I think I'm good now until
 National Scrapbooking Day!
Here's a few pics of my haul.

I mostly tried to hoard stock up on things I could use for all the Mixed Media projects I have planned. I've been slowly collecting mixed media for the last year or so.
That's how I roll...I like to gather all or as many supplies as I can before I actually start to create my vision projects.
I'm a collector, that's no surprise but I am a little surprised I thought I needed 30 Primary Elements Artist Pigment powders. You mix them with water in a spray bottle and you have beautiful metallic sprays. Or you can mix them with pastes or gels.
Fun, fun, fun!
Haha, we'll see how that all goes!
I'm hoping to do some Finnibair inspired art soon!
I was fortunate to have been able to take two of Anna's classes last Summer!

Are you just as surprised to see January slipping by? For weeks now I've been trying to get my craft room organized and instead of getting it done I just keep adding more supplies to the chaos!
Well tomorrow's another day!
So, lovies be sure to play along with us and link up at TCCB with your Winter,Blues creation and you could win a $12 gift certificate from A Day For Daisies.

Thanks for stopping in!
B-U-nique! Hugs!

Steampunk Dark Angel-DT Card for The Corrosive Challenge Blog

 Hello my darlings!
Happy New Year!
I hope everyone is having a great 2015!
After 3 weeks of having the flu and feeling ick, I am finally on the mend!
Today I'm sharing the card I made for the new challenge happening at The Corrosive Challenge Blog.
Our theme this fortnight is Shiny and New.
You can make a card for anything "new" (baby, marriage, etc), use something new, and/or use something shiny.
Or sponsor for this challenge is Aurora Wings.
http://www.aurorawings.com/digital-stamps-shop.html

I love Mitzi's fantasy art work, and it was my pleasure to work with this awesome image,
"Steampunk Dark Angel".
As you can see I was all about the shiny!!
I used shiny silver paper to make the mirror in the ornate die cut frame.
If you look for it you can see the 5 tiny brass watch parts I incorporated into the wings.

I also feeling a renewed creative drive
and hope to make 2015 my most creative, productive year yet so I made this card to reflect some of that.
Be sure to link up your shiny new creation with us and you could win a $15 gift certificate and pick out some lovely Aurora Wing digis for your collection.

I also wanted to share a couple of pictures showing the aftermath of the creative holidayz I just went through.

I haven't made any dough art or had a craft show for the last 7 years, but decided I would  make a few dough art ornaments, and have a craft show in my house the last weekend before Christmas. I know! Who does that!?
I had a month to prepare and thought I had lots of time but I ended up  getting a crazy cold and flu/fever the week of my craft show.
There were so many things I still wanted to get done...like make a face book page for my cards and ornaments...that's to come still.
Thanks to my kids, and sister, Anne, and bf,Jan for all the help you gave me!

I have supplies everywhere, and everything just got put somewhere, and everywhere, while I was trying to clean up for Christmas.
Now to get everything organized so I can find what I'm looking for.
Thanks for stopping in!
B-Unique! Hugs!
