Turned 26 years on this lovely public holiday. There's probably nothing else I can ask for but a restful holiday to celebrate the birthday. One's birthday wishes get simpler and more realistic as he/she gets older. I will want a second-hand car to drive myself to and fro work and good health for family and friends.

The latter seems more realistic given that it's a huge burden to purchase a car right now (even though I can afford it). I like having the disposable income to spend on meals and outings with friends. That will all evaporate with the purchase of the four wheels.

The first birthday wish will still remain a wish.

Enjoying my 'free' day before my scripts come in on Wednesday.

It's the New Year's Eve for 2011 and definitely has been a blessed one for me. There's so many things to give thanks for but the highlights of the year includes:

- Finishing up my last year and semester with my classmates

- Graduation

- Getting a good final posting (staying put at my practicum school)

- Traveling overseas with my students 3 times. For a beginning teacher like me, it's a dream come true. How many can claimed to have climbed Mount Ophir, outdoor adventure to Bintan and finally a humanities trip to Cambodia

- Ending off 2011 on a good and healthy note

Work has started to flood in after this week's meetings but I'm excited for what awaits me in 2012 too. I've being made the Secondary 2 level coordinator for my second teaching subject (even though I prefer teaching Upper Secondary). Come to think of it, it's good for my all-round development after a stint as an upper secondary teacher this year.

Busy pusy preparing for 2012 but I'm not going to neglect catching up with friends on New Year's eve too.

A Happy New Year to everyone who still reads my blog and let 2012 be a healthy one for you!

It's been a quiet Christmas this 2011. I know everyone goes about saying "This doesn't feel like Christmas yet or there's no Christmas mood this year". Somehow it rings true for me this festive period. I haven't had any plans at all and spent Christmas eve having dinner with my family. I mean that's what Christmas is all about, isn't it? In terms of partying at clubs or in the streets, it's a lifestyle that doesn't suit me. I'm quite astonished a friend of mine actually asked me this question after the clock struck midnight "Didn't you join in the crowd in town?" Ever since my NS days, I've realize town is one area to avoid during the festive season (unless you've got to settle your shopping).

Everyone is not blogging anymore/much these days. This is definitely not helped by the influx of social media like facebook and twitter. Well, facebook is a must for me but I don't believe in airing my views on twitter. It just doesn't add up. As for MSN, I managed to get my hotmail account back and that's why I managed to login. Logging into MSN reminds me the sad state it is now. This communication device isn't what it used to be anymore. Who knows, it may head the way of our good old friend, IRC.

Bought a Christmas present for myself - Iphone 4S. It didn't really cost me anything since I used the O Level duties fees from 16 days at Teck Whye Sec to pay for my purchase.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I frequent the AST almost every week for workshops but nothing beats seeing my classmates once again. While it's good to know more colleagues from the academic side during those general workshops/courses, catching up with like-minded individuals is equally important too. At the end of the day, I always bid goodbye to the rest and wonder when's the next time I'll be seeing them again.

Let's hope it won't be long again. Let's survive this remaining semester of exams and marking.

A PE senior once mentioned that teaching is like handing in a piece of assignment daily. It's more than that - There are countless 'assignments' that needs to be completed and handed in daily. It's all about discipline and time management. I'm glad that I've got that instilled in my since young so working life has been pretty much manageable. Regardless of whether you're teaching in primary, secondary or junior colleage level, the full workload can be tough on anyone. I've set a Geography common test paper and marked my way through this National Day holiday too. There were times I've had no teaching periods but I can be busy doing other stuff (e.g. chasing peope for consent form, homework, bringing my basketball team for competitions or be involved in O Level duties).

My students keep me going for they are the reason I look forward to going to school everyday. It helps that my bosses and colleagues are nice. Sometimes when the going gets tough, I look at the pictures that my Class Rep, Mr Chen, printed for us and it brings a smile to my face - I know I'm not alone. There are also times I missed the life of an undergraduate but I know one can never look back but only at the future ahead of us. That's part of the growing up process.

It's been a while since I last stayed up this late.
