You've led the club through thick and thin..stood miss *****'s nonsense on our behalf...organised camps, trainings. This championship is as much ours as it is yours. One way or another, you've left a deep impact on us, not just the skills and knowledge you imparted to us, but the examples you;ve set, as seniors, as friends. Thank you.

sam chan/lloyd- RESERVES! haha, good job guys, dont feel that you were useless or anything, you guys made a difference in todays debate, in this entire season. Its been great getting to know you two better..so just remember..never give up..on yourself..on your team... on the Lord!

sean- First! you overcame sorethroats and whatever sickness and you pulled it off today! its been great having you on the team..now lets keep our heads up..not get complacent..and move on to the next one!

paul- what can i say? you've done it. 40-60 chance? YOU did it together with the rest of us. I dont care what teachers, adjudicators say...sure..they might make sense..but i say i make the most sense- You have improved leaps and bounds in debates and everywhere else. From humble beginning in the reading rooms and 1.2. to the finals of the national competition. Suspend disbelief. Not just now. But for eternity. Cos you CAN. and you will.

anyway
i must recount my experience with the cab driver
mom and dad drove hiew to the east
so i took a cab back home
from pines after squash
so i was decked out in sports gear and all
*in chinese
cabbie- went to play sports?
me- yep
cabbie- ahh..i see they have gym facilities there?
me- ( i didnt understand what he was saying then so..) yup
cabbie- ah..good good..private club gyms are always good
me- ( comprehension surfaced) yup
cabbie- you know, if you go down to those public ones at orchard, at any one point of time you'll see quite a few really buff, immensely muscular men.
me- (i thought he said the public facilities were awful..so..) yeah, theyre terrible
cabbie- terrible? no! they look reall muscular (gesticulates with hands. while driving) but theyre gay i tell you!
me- bu..
cabbie- really! they look like strong men, but when they start speaking and wave their hands about(simulates again. while driving) you KNOW theyre gay
me- oh..yeah..
cabbie- i tell you, times are really different now, take it from an old man
me-yeah..absolutely
cabbie- you know its not just guys? girls too!
me- oh is it? (i was gonna die of laughter)
cabbie- yes! ive had many such customers, young girls..touching here kissing there...terrible i tell you!
me- yeah..definitely (pending explosion)
cabbie- you know whats worse? its not just young girls who are like that! old ladies too! 50, 60 my age even! touching here, kissing there...
me- oh..is it? (repressing roaring laughter)
cabbie- yeah..i tell you story, but cannot tell anyone ok
me- yeah (didnt understand this at that pt of time)
cabbie- i picked this girl up once, a chinese maid from indonesia, she said she needed money and she offered to sleep with me, so i said ok lah
me- oh is it?
cabbie- yeah..so i got to know her, and we became friends and all
me- i see
cabbie- she was a maid for a really rich person, i better not say the name, and there were a few other maids working there too..and one of them..a philipino
me- uh huh..
cabbie- met this OTHER philipino girl and they started making out! terrible ah!
me- oh yeah..definitely..

well
it gets a bit ra from then on
he describes what they did and all that
talks about chinese immigrant prostitutes
and angmoh ones
and when i got off...

cabbie- i tell you, young people shldnt go to this place lah..go there look see look see can lah, but cannot go in..
me- yep..definitely! thanks!

i laughed so hard when i got out of the cab
nearly got knocked down by another car
all i wanted to do was to read my economist in peace

ive met loud cab drivers
cab drivers who tell stories abt ns

cab drivers who are absolutely random
but never a sexually promiscuious cab driver

you learn something new everyyyday

maybe what arthur and abraham said
really rings true
no matter who wins
everyone's still a winner

to team one- *salutes* you've led the club and all our teams well for the past year. trainings, the fun times and the bad ones. your secondary school debating career might be over for now. but so what. you guys have so much of a future..debates in jc..and things even greater than that. you guys fought hard tonight. thats all thats needed to hold your heads up high, to raise our flag high.
you guys didnt give up on yourselves. and thats why you are TRULY acsians. every. one. of. you.

to team two- well! we've come this far hanging on to each other and to God. lets not STOP trusting but trust even more and above all to have the faith and maturity to know that results arent everything. like seb said, there has to be a winner and a loser. thats what results are for, satisfying that logical equation. but hey, regardless of how our next two debates go, and our debates for the rest of the year and even next year..lets just keep in mind that HE has plans for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us HOPE AND A FUTURE

sean- good job today! keep it up man...youve come a long way! go even further!

paul- nuff said. u owned today. regardless of what ppl said. today was the TEAMS day. so, all i ask of you, is that for one week more, you suspend disbelief, that you seize the day, that you DO.

sam, lloyd- ;) now is the real test for you guys! the impromptu round! you watched our senior teams debate today..let me quote an acjc rugger...'remember the face of defeat, and face it no more" do us proud at y14s..not by winning, but by trying your best!

yesterday had to be the slackest jg yet
mostly cos we didnt have to speak
haha

night started off tense
with the ri ac debate
battle of the titans
and once again
we came off worse
a loss
plus a bad db8
things werent going well for the red blue and gold
watched a few more debates
saw hopes crushed
and spirits uplifted
then
the moment everyone(mostly) was waiting for
the quarter breaking list
we knew we'd break
and so did both RI teams
only thing now was team1
so we waited
c div...
b div..
(which was full of ties btw)
and then boom
a div
first place-acteam2
to cries of huzzah
2nd place, 3rd place-RI one and two
well done terence, auong, js, fahad
4th place-mg one
and so the fairy kingdom prevails ;)
5th place..
AC TEAM one
this time to louder shouts and huzzahs
