hello friends!
as promised on twitter, i will blog about my china trip!
in fact, i did update my blog when i was in china but not here since blogger is blocked. i had a livejournal account but no idea if you guys check it out.. haha :D
first post in china: http://pings7.livejournal.com/1057.html
day 1 and 2: http://pings7.livejournal.com/1499.html
day 3: http://pings7.livejournal.com/1542.html
anyway, something terrible happened on day 4 that resulted in the END of my update. hahahaa. well, i went china with my 2 best pals from school. lets name them Friend 1 and Friend 2.
friend 1 developed a bad cough shortly after we landed and did not recover despite drinking plenty of water and eating medicines we brought from singapore. therefore, she went to see the doctor at the school's clinic and was given chinese medicine (it is china afterall) and was told to have plenty of rest. the programme for day 4 is lesson in the morning and shopping in the city in the afternoon.
however, being a shopping queen, she could not resist the shopping trip although we were against it. despite Friend 2's and my naggings, she turned a deaf ear to everything we have said and she left the hostel and meet up with the rest. Friend 2 and I went to our TA (teaching assistance from NUS, who is technically our "IC" for the trip) and told him about her decision. Actually, when my TA brought Friend 1 to the clinic, he already told us that he want us to lock my friend in the hostel (haha in a joking manner, but his point is that he wants her to rest). in fact, Friend 2 and I were intending to stay in the hostel with her and not go for the shopping trip.
when Friend 1 heard (i told my TA infront of her) what i said, she stormed back to her room and locked herself inside and left Friend 2 (who is her room mate) outside the room. i still remembered that that day was raining very heavily and the weather was very cold, so it is even more not advisable for friend 1 to go anywhere except her room. she shouted at us although we tried to pacify her. when i called her mobile, she screamed at me for 'lying to her' and it goes on. i was so upset i tell you :(
another reason that i discouraged her to go for the shopping trip is because she is supposed to fly to shanghai on day 7 (alone!) and if she is still sick, she will not be able to board the flight as she is also running a temperature. i really have no idea what i did wrongly. i did not shout at her, talk behind her back, backstab..... i was really disappointed.
eventually, friend 1 let friend 2 back into the room after 1 hour. i was in my room alone, reflecting on everything i've done and was evaluating on my actions until friend 2 suddenly called me and told me friend 1 RAN OUT of the hostel on her own. friend 2 had to chase after her in the rain and i also dashed out to find them... when friend 1 discovered that friend 2 called me, she turned back n returned to the hostel. *major hai*
anyway, when i was back in the hostel, i called my friends who were already outside and asked them for the address. i gave it to friend 2 and i told friend 2 that she can bring friend 1 to the shopping district without me, because obviously friend 1 doesn't want me to go. but... friend 1 wants me to go because she is scared and friend 2 also want me to go (for the same reason). *triple HAI*
yes, we went to the shopping district and did not talk to each other until day 8 (i think, i cannot remember). i have no idea what to talk to her... and eventually it was my room mate who cannot stand the situation anymore and she forced us to talk to her. anyway, the eventual decision is to change room mate because friend 1 and friend 2 weren't talking also. yes, i believe some of you think we are a bunch of childish kids but to me, this is the last thing i want to face when i am overseas :( we believe that things would change for the better if we switch room mates....
yes, we talked more after we changed rooms. it is also because of this incident friend 2 and i became much closer. friends from nus who saw the photos on facebook were saying 'wah, how come it is always friend 2 and you in photos together? where is friend 1?' i just gave them crap answers... hahaha... but anyway, we are still in talking terms, although it is no longer the same anymore :(
ok, i decided not to write about this anymore. please ask me out if you want to know more. haha. moving on to fun stuff!
day 7: 户部巷
this place is something like taiwan's 士林夜市 but it is open the whole day! the food there is not too bad and cheapppp! (ok no food in wuhan is expensive! haha!)

huge goreng pisang!
anyway after the 'breakfast', i took a ferry to the other side of the city. my friend told me it is supposed to be some warehouse selling cheap clothes.. BUT HOW WRONG...

on the ferry crossing the famous yangtze river

we walked and walked and walked under the hot sun....

.... to find that there are at least 10 buildings selling nothing but BRA!
it was terrible. we were hot/thristy/hungry/tired but there is no eatery at all! we wanted to cab back to our hostel but there was no cab! we waited for cab for at least an hour before we surrendered and decided to take a bus, then ferry, then cab......... when we saw MCDONALDS when we alighted from the bus, we were like some crazy pple RUNNING TOWARDS mac you know! hahahahaha! imagine i FINISHED my UPSIZE meal!!!! now you understand how despo and hungry i was. haha :D
that day is so sad that now i wonder why i didnt cry. HAHA.
day 8: ktv!as usual after class, we had a tour to a high class laser company which i didnt bother taking any photos. hahahaha. after which, the bus dropped us to a shopping district called 光谷步行街! it is my favourite place because i went there 5 times and i can accurately estimate the cab fare from my hostel! RMB 12.90! (~S$2.50) HAHA!

光谷步行街!!
anyway, we had our first ktv session there! the ktv is ATASSSSSS and big! not very cheap because that day only 6 of us went and we paid about S$10 each for 3 hours. but the room can easily accommodate 20 pple comfortably.. but i didnt mind! :)))

the reception looks like a 5 star hotel lobby!

SEE HOW HUGE THE ROOM IS MY CAMERA CANNOT CAPTURE THE WHOLE ROOM!
day 9: zoo!actually, day 9 was supposed to be the most dreaded day because according to our schedule, we are supposed to have full day LAW lecture! that is 9-5pm for you!! but surprisingly the class ended at 11am! we were thrilled! so we had an impromptu trip to the zoo ourselves!
the zoo has a open concept, meaning that although the animals are fenced up, we can still 'touch' the animal if we want (since we are really close). some chinese really do that, they kicked the cage, disturb the bears by throwing rubbish at them and some parents even asked their son to pee on the bears. horrifying sight but luckily i didnt witness it while all my friends did. apparently i tried RMB10 flying fox and escaped from the cruel and ugly side of the chinese. i enjoyed the zoo trip with my friends (we splitted into several groups) as we did all the fun and crazy stuff like balancing act, flying fox etc etc unlike other grps where they saw how the chinese were torturing the animals.
after the zoo trip, everyone was traumatised. therefore, we calmed ourselves down with a good meal at this atas restuarant! it is a restaurant which i would never enter if i am in singapore but over there, no matter how much my friends and i order my share will never exceed S$10!

haiz i miss the steak already x_x haha
however, the bad hygiene practices in the zoo led to my rashes. upon returning to the hostel, i was HORRIFIED to find myself covered with rash from my body to my thighs! omg i thought i got some weird disease! :(((((( but the funny thing is i don't feel any itch at all.
----
omg, i am tired already cuz it is 4am now. i need to travel to nus tml to submit my essay so i better sleep! will continue day 10 again tml if i have the time! i will definitely blog about my trip HAHA if not i will forget everything very soon. :)))
