an "entertaining" morning

hello peepss!

sorry for not updating my blog.. recently, i was busy with school (hahahaha not really lol) but yeah i'm trying to pace myself to read and revise my work more often.. and there isn't much to update!

meet up with kim and xiu today for lunch and told them (ok i told kim the whole story, xiu only know the outline) abt my weird encounter with this guy from engineering. shld i repeat the paiseh story here? HAHA. ok maybe i shld so that i can save myself from repeating another 10 times.

this morning, i was at harbourfront terminal waiting for bus 188 to sde. usually, as long as i reached 30 mins before my class, i will definitely be on-time/slightly earlier/slightly late. although i arrived at 8.20am, my bus did not come until 8.50am and my tutorial is at 9am!!!

i dunno why but i cannot be bothered to flag for a cab, haha. so, i waited and waited for the bus.. (there isn't even any bus 188 at the berth!) until a random guy tried to get my attention by swinging his hands to my vision..

lets name the guy, A. and please try to visualise his slow spoken nature (slow meaning speaks softly and SLOWLY) + slow motion habit

A: "hi.. are you from electrical engineering?"
me: "nope..." (with a slight but awkward smile)
A: "ohhh...." (still pondering in his mind, trying to 'IDENTIFY' me)

A: "you looked like someone i saw from electrical engineering..."
me: "oh really?" (my reply sounds enthu but actually my face is half dead since it is so EARLY)

......i turned away trying to start my stoning session........

i would expect the conversation to end HERE. if it is me and i recognised a person wrongly, i will be so paiseh and by all means AVOID eye contact with the person but guess what.....

A: "so, which faculty are you from?"
me: "sde"
A: "where's sde?"
me: "beside your faculty"

through this short conversation, i deduced that he is a freshie who just entered nus because obviously he dunno where's where. BUT.................

A: "so, what is your major?"
me: "pfm - project and facilities management"
A: "so, what is your major?"
me: "pfm - project and facilities management"
A: "so, what is your major?"
me: "pfm - project and facilities management"

ok, this is not a typo. he asked me that question at least 3 times. haha.

A: "ohh.. so is it PROPERTY and _______ (cannot remb) management?"
me: "NO. PFM PROJECT AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT" (hahaha i sounded angry here but i'm not that angry lol)
A: "oh.. so what are the other courses in your faculty?"
me: "architecture, industrial design, real estate and my course, PROJECT AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT"

A: "oh.. so your course is the same as real estate??"
me: (at the back of my mind, if it is the same course, why named it differently?) "no...... it's not."

A: *using his finger and count the NUMBER of courses in my faculty* (yes, only 4 courses but he used his finger to count. and he took quite sometime)

A: "so.. is the bus usually this late?"
me: "actually no.. quite punctual"
A: "punctual as in your will be punctually LATE?"
me: ...
A: "because, when i took this bus last week, i was late for 7 minutes and looks like i'm late today too"
me: "oh.. really?"

(not really interested in the topic but still must entertain. anyway, when he meant punctually late, i think he is trying to say a joke, which failed miserably.)

A: "so, why did you choose your course?"
me: "erm, nothing in particular. maybe because it is new?"
A: "oh i see.."

(the questions he asked are not that boring, but the answers i gave are too boring for him to continue the conversation)

A: "so, where do you stay?"
me: "hougang"
A: "oh that makes it logical that you are taking bus from here......."
me: *silence*

(at the back of my mind, i think he is waiting for me to ask him where he stays, which i didnt. HAHA)

A: "actually you are very SENSITIVE.. (yes he used this word in the wrong context!)
me: ???!!!!!???!!!!!????!!!!!
A: "oh, how do i put it... errr.. you know your route very well."
me: *again, ?_?*
A: "cuz you know that you can take bus 188 instead of bus 10 to ur faculty"
me: "ohh.. my friends taught me to......... not that i am SENSITIVE..."
A: "oh, you know it took me 3 YEARS to know this route"
me: ???!!!!???!!!! i thought you're year 1?
A: *very happy inside* oh you mean i look like year 1 to you (no you don't, but you sound/act like one)
A: i am actually YEAR 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me: *jaw dropped*

anyway, he proceeded to ask me questions like what do i do in my course, what electives i took (and he went on and on and on and on about the history exposure module which i don't recall learning anything he learnt), SO MANY THINGS!!

so, i spent 30 minutes "chatting" and "replying" his questions at the terminal, and another 20 minutes on the bus with him. i am slightly relieved when i was about to get off the bus cuz i was really late for class and, i can end the conversation but guess what, he alighted at the same stop as me. hahaha. ok lah it's not that bad actually.

A: "i think i will be later today compared to last week. i think i will be 16 minutes late"
me: "oh, really. you estimated so accurately..... to me, i don't think it matters if i am 1 or 10 mins late since i'm ALREADY late"

(he is SO PRECISE with the time - typical engineering student!!!! hahahahahaha)

A: "so, what's your name. my name is yi cai" (lol according to kim this is a HUAT name)
me: "li ping"
A: "HUH?"
me: "li ping" (slightly embarrassed he said HUH so loudly and cuz i don't want to say my name too loud hahaha)

so we alighted the bus, and we were "supposed" to cross the overhead bridge together but i saw my friends! they were as late as me.. immediately i turned from a "voice very deep cannot be bothered" person to a super lively and chatty girl. oh no, he must be feeling terrible inside!

before i went up for my tutorial, i shouted:

"yi cai, BYE!"

he turned around, smiled, and said byebye.

i am very very relieved that he didn't ask for my phone number. HAHAHAHA. i think i will give it to him because i have no idea how to reject.

hai. simon always say i am a nerd attractor. and today, it is proven right yet again. is it cuz i was wearing specs today? and according to my other friends, nerds nowadays like ah lian (aka me).

that is the end of my sad (super entertaining to you guys) encounter this morning. what a great way to welcome the day.

anyway, i wore a black 3/4 top with white shorts to school and KIM WORE THE SAME COMBI. we went home together but i refused to walk beside her in arts. HAHAHA. i looked like a smaller version of her. it's COMICAL.

and we also inferred never to wear that combination unless you want strangers to talk to you, because she met 1 on bus 10 today, although not as "entertaining" as mine.

i shall emo now. this semester is so heavy i can foresee days where i will struggle to breathe properly... since i have at least 2 assignments/reports for each module = at least 10 projects.

projects should be easy to me because i am in,

PROJECT AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT! (yi cai can you remember my course?)

twentyone

yoooo! hahaha.. i think many are waiting for me to write about my birthday celebrations but i've been too lazy so i decided to update at 1 go!

part 1: everything started all the way back to 14th... (earlier post)

i reached home after a long day at the hospital, was sooooooooo tired that i slept for 2 hours and was pretty blur throughout the steamboat dinner at home with all my sisters + bro-in-laws (bil). at about 10pm, things started to get weird when my 2nd sister + bil left the house suddenly.. and she told me she was going to withdraw cash for my angbao.

i told her "it's ok, i accept bank transfer. HAHAHAHA"

after that, i decided to go for a shower, but my 3rd sister + bil were in my room, talking. i sensed something amiss but i was too tired to think so much.. but my 3rd sister stopped me from showering and told me a load of crap (hahahaha) but i ignored her (actually, trying to ruin her plan) and i took a REALLY long shower.. which was really problematic!

anyway, after my shower, i decided to 'play along' with them for a little while until they brought me to the basketball court near my place. i was in my most comfortable pair of shorts and top (but my sister always tell me the shorts look like undies to her) and my hair was unkempt! omg lor.. cheapos were there! my 2nd sister have been secretly contacting my friends for quite some time..

actually, i also know there is something fishy going on when my 2nd sister called me up suddenly to ask for kaiwei's number, cuz she claimed that she needs to know more about NUS econs department. what a lousy excuse. lol. but i didnt give her her number and unfortunately my sister has to scroll through my 332 friends in facebook to find kaiwei. LOL.

all the balloons are still in my room now.. some are deflated already :(

part 2: next morning, we met real early at orchard mrt for brunch.. a very disappointing one (the menu is completely different from what i was told + they charged me wrongly) but i hope/think everyone had a good time!

no pictures of the food, cuz i didn't bring camera. nothing impressive too. hahahaha.

then, we proceeded to the second programme for the day - to wreck my sister's place!

part 3: anyway on the actual day (which is today), i went to school for lessons and reached school real early, 10.30am (!!!!!) to meet simon

he made a card for me! so touched! so happy that everyone is reading and responding to my wish list! HAHAHA

from 3rd sister! hahaha everything she gave me make me feel like a 10 year old all over again lol.

crumpler bag from my uni friends! woah.. hahahhaa.. so shock to receive this from them!

after my school, i went to meet my sisters + bil + mama for buffet at my favourite orchard hotel! aye, shld really have hold the lunch there cuz it was so much better but sadly most cant make it on weekdays. however, i didnt eat much cuz i had a BAD DIARRHOEA before i can even start! *waste money* but i will return again and try to make my money worthwhile! hahaha!

reached home around 5.30pm and slept all the way to 8.30pm. was so tired cuz i only slept for 3+ hours the day before due to preparation work for my module. now, at 1am, i am repeating the same mistake cuz i'm still blogging and have not done my work for tml's tutorial and my class is 10am! zzzz i am so sleepy now :(

anyway, i want to thank everyone for making my low-profiled 21st a very very pleasant one and i really appreciate everything everyone has done! birthday from today onwards, will just another simple day for me, maybe with a few more text msges and posts on facebook :)

i am indeed blessed with such a good family, which the sweetest and nicest sisters anyone can ask for, and also friends who care <3

this week has been quite crazy.

firstly, my timetable has gone haywire (earlier entry.. from my rant u can interpret how annoyed i felt).

secondly, my dad went for check up to determine the cause of his shortness of breath.. doctor A suspected heart failure and may need to perform bypass surgery :(

went for a more detailed check up today at novena heart centre and ttsh, very thankful to find out that his arteries are all okay, so he doesn't need any surgery. what my whole family now needs to do is to control his bad habits (eating non-stop), his health condition (which is the usual hbp and hbs)...


thank god :)


but, he just ate char kuay teow. i know that is very bad, but i know nothing will stop him from eating. the least i can do now is, to limit the amount he eat (by only giving him a small portion than finishing the whole thing).

was listening to 933 (after a long hiatus) and the dj was sharing the lyrics behind a song he sang a long time ago.. a tragic love story.

a guy "met" a girl online (irc if i'm not wrong) and they had many in common and were planning to meet up before the guy confessed that "he is not good looking at all" and so did the girl. however when they saw each other, the girl turned out to be a very pretty lady.

of cuz, the guy was in awe and didn't know how to react, and didn't express himself. actually, he is deeply in love with the girl.

the girl, on the other hand, has already fallen in love with the guy before they met.

they chatted for a while and it is time to part. it is an unforgettable date for both and they bidded goodbyes..

the girl left first, and while crossing the road, met with an accident and she never came back again.

the guy was extremely remorseful and kept blaming himself why didnt he make the confession.

is it so hard to say 'i love you'?

ok, the plot sounds really cheesy and i'm not sure if it is a true story. but it really makes me think.

i really admire those who can confess their feelings to those they are attracted to. it really takes A LOT of courage - due to the aftermath: to be rejected or teased at. it is mentally draining seriously..

however, who knows what will happen if they never try? they will be like the guy in the story, who will regret for all his life.

well, to reject the person is another art too... equally mentally draining.

as an embarrassing victim and remorseful party, all i can conclude is the responsibility and courage to do so are nerve-wrecking.

by doing the first, i have answers for myself and at least i know i will not regret for the rest of my life although it can be embarrassing! HAHAHA

by doing the second, i'm glad i did it and not repeat any (potential) mistake. it is cruel, but i believe it is good for both parties, though some might encourage me to "test it out first".

"feel" (what an old school term) is most important to me now. chemistry is.. nothing.

i think an out-going person like me (in front of strangers/friends, that is) has chemistry with almost everybody.

mass update

hello everybody! time for a proper post and sorry for the wait!

wow, i realised my last proper post was i was back from hongkong. well, for that 1 week i was back, i did nothing except watching videos all day. specifically, sun yanzi's. hahaha. currently my addiction is her! went to sing k for 2 days consecutively but still not sick of her songs. :D

the most anticipated event was xiu's party on sunday (26th july) at holland v. the cafe is right along the main road but BLIND ME cannot spot it and wasted a lot of time trying to find the place under the hot scortching sun. food was pretty good but i was unable to enjoy it as i was feeling so bloated. sorry xiu, i wasted the money you spent on me! *hits chest*

after the lunch, i zoomed down to national stadium to catch liverpool in action. as i was already running late, i cabbed down about 5.15pm and expressway to kallang was caught in a terrible jam! the driver was running late too (as he has to change shift at 5.30pm) and he asked if i can drop halfway and take a bus myself.

in the end, he drove me somewhere near kallang mrt and i figured out how to walk to national stadium myself. boohoo! luckily it wasn't too late, our seats were pretty good!

we saw huimin, our first 3 months classmate! she is working for the events company!

(p/s: if u realised, i changed my top to a red top. i was wearing the blue top and EVERYONE was staring at me cuz they thought i'm a chelsea supporter! those wearing non-red or jerseys from other clubs were jeered instantly!)

after sunday, my programme is back to routine - watching more videos and screaming to sun yanzi's songs playing on my radio. as i promised charmaine i will be doing up her frame for her party... i only started today although i bought the frame near to 2 weeks ago from ikea.

today is a pretty bad day for me actually.

about noon, i was checking the flight details for jetstar as the cheapos are planning for hongkong trip (which has been confirmed - YAY!) until 1 plus. i was supposed to be home by 2.30pm cuz my dad promised to bring us to malaysia and it has been so long since we went together.

however, on my way to the bus stop (i was talking to xiu on the phone), my bus ran away although i flagged and i can assure you the uncle saw me! i was so pissed (cuz it is very hot) and i scolded tmd. HAHA. suffered instant karma!

i loitered around ps for about 45 mins and lost track of time cuz the shop 'made with love' has so many lovely (but expensive) craft material! awwwwww!! and, i walked to douby ghaut station at 2.45pm when my mum called me to hurry me home. when i was at the escalator, a secondary school boy stepped on my slippers and the impact was so great that my slipper came off and brushed across my feet! it was super painful and (i think) i screamed. the boy, looked at me with a "huh?" look w/o any apology! I WAS SO BLOODY PISSED! he walked/ran down the escalator hoping that i will not catch up with him but HOW WRONG HE WAS. i PURPOSELY (hahaha) walked towards his direction and he was very paiseh to see me (i continued staring). i cannot believe how kids today behave. he is definitely a upper secondary student and has no basic courtesy! what is happening to our civis education system?? *angry*

anyway, i got scolded by my mother and sister because my dad decided not to go anymore cuz i told them i will be slightly late and if they cannot wait for another 30 mins (i need to take the train to serangoon, then cab, and book the tickets) i will prefer them to leave without me.

angry. i came home and stayed in my room since, blasting the song 奔. it sure cheered me up a lot :) took an hour nap and had dinner at 9pm. THEN ONLY i started doing the frame.

initially, my plan is to put cotton balls around it cuz i assume it will be very cute. but it turns out to be the ugliest thing i've ever seen in my life. hahahha. i had to scrap it away, leaving some marks but not as serious as i thought. in the end, i decided to adpot a simple design will do since everyone will be dressed up!

after the photo frame is used for photo-taking at the party, i think it is a waste to throw it away (as it still cost me $15) so i decided to paste some old photos and haunt everyone! it brings back many many memories! :)

it is supposed to be a wedding so there must be a groom and a bride! charmaine is of cuz, the groom, but the bride/groom changes! so i decided to leave the space blank and attach transparency over it to write names which can be wipped off!

however, there is some stain left. so, i prepared more transparencies in case the stain gets too bad!

i really hope the photos will turn out good! reason for choosing such a big frame is cuz everyone will be wearing a bow/cute dress code for wedding so i think it will be important to capture those accessories!

anyway, i am also quite emo these few days. reason is known but i still indulged in it. i read my small little book from j1 and i was so naive! i wrote really mushy things which I CANNOT STAND MYSELF and i think i shld just kill myself.

but i'm glad i am so rational now. at least, i think deeper now. i really hate it when people assume i am stupid/shallow you know. i met a few individuals (specifically, malvolios) in my YEP team who were SO SHOCK to realise that i actually "think" and "observe". *#&(#&(*&@! actually, it is not entirely their fault. i laughed and entertained myself with everything, ignoring everything i saw but they just assume i was happily soaking myself in my own lalaland and i think some labelled me as 'unwise'. i know i am not that wise but someone actually wrote a note to me and his hope to me is "i hope you can grow wiser."

excuses me sir, by writing that message, i think you need to grow wiser and at a faster rate please. hahaha. angry again.

and yes, met up some of them before i went hk and after i was back (yest) to celebrate some of their birthdays. my leader (william) also announced to the team that he is leading a team to sichuan next june and as expected, many are interested and i've decided not to join. reason is simple and i would prefer to join a new group of people and learn more from a different group of people.

nonetheless, i am really really really thankful i went for yep. it was an enriching trip. i really encourage all my friends to take the first step, leave your comfort zone and start something totally new and fresh, be it joining a cca in school, or apply for exchange. the experience is definitely going to be the extremely memorable. although the journey is torturous (fund-raising! omg!), at the end of the day what you (ok me) gain will definitely be so much more than you contributed.

school is starting, bidding for my last module is tomorrow. that brings me to the next biggest (?) event on my calender - my 21st birthday! well, no celebration so, sorry peeps. haha. i'm well-known (and enjoy) to be nua. but the-always-so-nice-me will help you guys along for things to get (and not to get) for me! (lol the way i put it sounds like i am so noble LOL bhb shld be the correct expression)

to get:

- scrapbook/art material from made with love! i just developed 200 photos from my YEP albums. haha :D
- cardssssssssss! nothing beats them and i love (long long long long long) messages! :)

not to get:

- cakes. i don't like to eat cake if you never realise. hahaha.
- surprise/celebration/sing birthday song. hahahaha. i'm weird i know.
- any gadgets. initially i was considering getting a GPS for the car, but i seldom drive. so idea discarded.
- accessories. i'm always so plain cuz i'm lazy to put on any accessories and i like to feel 'light'.

erm, i cannot think of anything else. hahahaha. i know i will receive 2 presents from 2 groups of people. so if you want to get me anything, maybe it is better to tell me first so i can leave a msg here so i wont get the same thing twice? HAHAHA. ziji arrange my own presents.

i really think i am a (considerate) slave. HAHAHA.
