i finally read straits time PROPERLY after months... think the last time i finished reading everything was before i started work at UOB. as usual, i flipped to my favourite (and most useless) section of all - LIFE! nothing great except that hollywood is remaking another movie after infernal affairs (a.k.a the departed) and it starts my favourite actress jennifer aniston! will definitely watch it when it comes out although i had no idea what the movie is about except that the hong kong version stars DANIEL WU!
next, i read the forum. to my surprise, the A level result and university admission this year has caused a big hit. apparently a dad, whose daughter scored A, B, E and a C for gp got rejected by all 3 local universities and his dad is unhappy because to him his daughter's result should get her somewhere. of cuz MOE's spokesperson had something to say. he cited that NUS, NTU and SMU had increased their intake but he didnt reveal the exact number. please lah, increase 1 person also means increase leh. who are you trying to bluff? (speaking in a position of an angry and frustrated A level holder who got rejected by NTU and NUS)

i absolutely agree with Jayampath De Silva, one of those who commented on the issue. singapore's education is 'mercilessly meritocratic'. don't talk about my case. i can easily cite many examples around me who studied really hard, probably even harder than those who scored AAA and AAB but still got rejected. life in jc is already such a misery, such a torture. why still torture us after A's? i thought it should be over?
now i understand why singaporeans are migrating to australia. maybe i will someday if i am rich enough. i don wan my next generation to go through shit education like this. and a reminder to you, don give birth in the year of dragon.
okay, so today is vesak day which means HOLIDAY for me.. :) so happy. actually i have been cooping myself at home since last sunday, never really go out after work (except serious stuff). i went orh-nee-ing with the rest at chinatown, in a very throw-face manner cuz i was in fbt and triton tee completed with my specs. so many people there.. until by late afternoon i was like some mud. watched 50 first dates and it is still as sweet as ever... i forgot who i went with to watch the movie. oh, now ocean's 11 is showing. i got to go and savour the last moments of this holiday. tomorrow will be a better day :)
