Things I'm looking forward to

although A's will begin approximately in 1 week's time (OMG!!!!) but that also implies that i'm 3 weeks away from FLEEFOM!!! (yes i can flee to anywhere i want) here are the stuff that i'm looking forward to after A's!! (u need to set target so that you will look forward to A's and not mourn and complain so much)

1. dye my hair! yeahhh i think i want to try exotic colours like dark grey or dark green!!! maybe i wanna try highlighting. maybe lah.
2. find a job! either a very well-paid 9-5 job, or ice-cream seller!! hehehehe
3. bangkok!! with my sister to shop shop and shop!!
4. plan a chalet for my family!
5. a deserving chalet for the stupid girls! (if they want lah hahahahaha)
6. A BOYFRIEND. (HAHAHAHAHA! this is a target when i enter uni)
7. watch youtube (esp stupid taiwanese variety shows) until i puke and die and throw m,y comp away cuz i am so sick of the comp
8. announce this blog to the entire world
9. write a letter in to 933 (i always wanted to write in since sec 4 when i'm having o's to 987 but i comtemplate and slack until now hahaha........)
10. get fit! my target of 43kg!!!!!!!!!!!! (i am 48kg yest and 47kg today)
11. a sharper face w/o surgery
12. kbox to listen and watch all the mv! (quite dumb right since i can watch on youtube)
13. BURN MJC UNIFORM! (yes i want to test the null hypothesis at 4% level of significance that mjc uniform is fire-proof)
14. rent/buy/download: goong, reaching for the stars, er zhou ju zi wen n other nice dramas. yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy i love rectangular stuff (monitor n tv)
15. sell my notes on ebay, esp RJC notes cuz they rock (wahhahahahaa no lah most prob i will pass to my j1 junior if they can use them) or sell garang guni, the rates are not bad! i think my stack of notes can fetch $20! (not kidding seriously)

mixed feelings

I heard about the 6tragic news regarding the suicide at chinese garden mrt station just now from my sisters and mum. I was very shock after reading the details leading to the man’s action.

The family had no money and he doesn’t have a regular job. He only has education up to primary 3 while his wife, primary 5. his wife, although handicapped, work in a factory to bring in $500 monthly to barely meet the family needs. To sustain the little money they have, their usual meals comprises only plain porridge with vegetables or instant noodles for most of the time.

Until the day he died, he gave his youngest son $9 and told him to ‘buy chicken rice for your mum, elder brother and yourself”. For a family of such thriftiness, $9 makes a big difference to their household and it was no special occasion. Obviously the son was confused, but he didn’t read too much into it.

The man left $5 for the wife, and off he left the house.

At 10.10pm, CCTV at Chinese garden station platform caught the instant where a man jumped onto the track when a train was approaching the station. His body was ran over by the train, and the body was ripped into 3 parts.

The man had $16 in his pocket. The family had no money with them. In conclusion, the family only had $30 on the day the man died.

For a country like Singapore, where our standard of living is much higher compared to our asian counterparts, very seldom will we be able to witness cases like this. It has never occurred to me that, when all of us are enjoying ourselves, without having to worry about whether do we have enough money for a movie or to shop, there are actually people out there who only have $30 to support the entire family.

How do you feel at this point in time? I am very guilty about my actions, wasting money on expensive gadgets and meals like sakae (although the average I spent is $10 not $16 on buffet). But then, I never hesitate to buy tissue papers or donating during flag day even though many people tell me that those old ladies selling tissues are exploited because 70% of their “income” will go to those “illegal groups” who “paid the tissues” a.k.a capital and ordered the old ladies to work for them. As much as I believe my friends, I would rather the old ladies to earn the remaining 30% so that they will not have to worry about their meals. Imagine if we don’t even give them the 30%, who is going to support them?

Only in circumstances like this, then we will know how fortunate we are. I’m going to continue whatever I can to repay and help those who need in the society as much as I can. This is the reason why I joined slc partly, although many people will doubt why.

But really, the satisfaction you get when they say a simple thank you is more than the monetary reward you get. It is something within the heart.

So, help anyone if you meet with one. You did not only bring happiness to the person you helped, but you cheer yourself in the process too.

Luckily, although there are many arrogant Singaporeans around now who spent money without much thought (I don deny tt I am not 1 of them), help is pouring in to help the victim’s family. My sister is going to the wake to provide as much monetary help too and I guess I will do my best too.

Lets keep the spirit of helping up. Don’t always think about the negative outcome because if you think about it, there might be 34983246821643 people who have the same thought as you. Make the first step and create a difference.

7. SBS buses used to be non-airconditioned. The bus seats are made of wood and the cushion is red. The big red bell gives a loud BEEP! when pressed.. There are colourful tickets forTIBS buses. The conductor will check for tickets by using a machine which punches a hole in the ticket.

8. Envelopes given to us to donate to Sharity Elephant every Children's Day.

9. You've probably read Young Generation magazine.You know who's
Vinny the little vampire and Acai the constable.

10. You were there when they first introduced MRT here. You went for the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

30. In Primary six you had to play buddy for the younger kids like big sister and brother.

31. We wear BM2000, BATA, or Pallas shoes.

32. Your form teacher taught you Maths, Science and English.

33. The worksheets were made of brown rough paper of poor quality.

34. You went to school in slippers and a raincoat when it rained, and you find a dry spot in the school to sit down, dry your feet, and wear your dry and warm socks and shoes.

reading kim's latest post about her love for her CG makes me really envious and guilty at the same time. i think i must have been such an ass to say those disgusting things about my class all the time. there were times where we enjoy each other's company (to be specific: 1st 3 mths + before pw started). ok let me thank some pple (which i ought to because we were classmates for 2 yrs afterall, not forgetting my seniors and juniors) of which more than 90% wont be able to read this. maybe i should announce my blog add after A's or whatever.

sharon/singhui/amanda/linda: my closest pals since last yr. thank you for tolerating my severe moodswings, and i can completely understand each other plights now that it is nearing A's and everyone is getting competitive. as sharon said, everything will be back to normal after A's! studies only hurt friendships in mj! hahahaha..

esther n kah: omg, only with 2 of u then i can start to crap irrelevant stuff! not forgetting kah esp cuz she is as cheena as me n esther for always reminding me of mr kwek. I REALLY HATE THAT HAHAHAHAHA!

the guys: although sometimes you guys make so much noise and disrupt me (n the rest of the class), you guys really make our tutorials (esp geog) less torturous. but then, math is still a disaster!!!! hahahahaha..

my pw grp: although all of us got band 2, personally i think it's all worth it! at least we are 1 big happy grp compared to the others (oops)

AHHHHHH!!! i was really shock and sad to know that even ms yeo is leaving.

reg5: not sure how you guys feel but through this orientation i learn about alot of things. i enjoyed myself tremendously as an OGL and hope you guys as freshies enjoyed the orientation too. although most of u ignore me and treat me like an idiot, bullying me all the time, but then again i will omit all the bad stuff u all do. HAHAHAHA..

there are times where i really feel like giving up everything and just disappear for a while. however, thanks to my best pals like rachel/kim/rani/wanlin (basically the cheapo gang) for their understanding and willingness to listen to my grumbles all the time when we meet up. despite our messy n hectic jc/poly schedules, i am really happy that we are still so close, or even closer after graduating from bowen. i really treasure this because i know many pple hardly contact their secondary school pals like the 10+ of us.

although unfortunately i won't have as many things to take with me after this jc journey, i still want to thank everyone whom i've met for giving me an overview about the unsheltered world.

i stopped listening to 987fm and started listening to 933fm one fine day because 987 was playing trash. partly because i was too lazy to walk to the radio to change the channel (n i lost my remote), i continue listening to 933. i like the programme from 9-1am and i sent in 2 sms to ask for a song. 1st time i asked for 'wo men zhe me le" by s.h.e but the dj didnt play the song i wanted (i assume the song is not officially release as 1 of their hits yet) but she read my dedication and play i-forgot-who's song. then on thurs which i am super suay cuz i encountered 4 suay things in 10 mins, i sms in again n ask for 'tui hou'. i waited until 1am but she didnt read my dedication...... so right after she said byebye, i wanted to off the radio n slp. but suddenly i heard the familiar piano notes! TUI HOU IS PLAYING!!!! awww. although there might be 89072387263 pple who sms for the song too, but i am still very happy to hear that song, which is my fav at the moment. :)

yucks math! i had 2 hr of human geog consultation with the rest and another 2 hr of math consultation alone on thurs. after tt drilling 4 hrs of preaching + trying to absorb whatever i can, all the bad things befall on me. bleah.

haiyoh, i fianlly got back the eagerly anticipated cum 1 month late geography prelim paper. i'm quite happy with my grade but i will not be complacent. i still want to jump another 3 grades!!! much thanks to my ever-so-nice tutor who will crap with me n wont scold me (how can she scold when i pay her hahahaha opps just kidding) hehe. but now, math is still the ultimate prob.

and staying in school to study with the 2 zh and ken is not productive cuz we spend the last 1.5 hr laughing at majusri's yearbook. wth!!! i think studying in discussion room is a bad idea. and i almost died cuz i smuggled milo and marshmellow into library!! haaha!

my fever must have hit >40deg yest. the dream was so so so so awful. i don't want it to happen! I LOVE YOU PAPA AND MAMA!!!! :(

when i woke up at 6+ for school, my pillow was soaked with tears. it is very very wet. whole body aching like hell, it must be the stingray n sotong yest, not forgetting the screammmmming. it was a fun fun night, but a bad bad horrible dream. i've already burnt joss sticks to dua pekong n my grandparents. bless everyone!!
