A little fresh air was the perfect cure for the slump I was in last week.
Happy little boys, fat fingers, and a husband home early always help, too.
I love my boys.

Our Saturday

Max went through about 4 outfit changes on Saturday, but that's totally normal.  He isn't afraid to get dirty, and then wash himself off in the hose.  And then repeat.

He also isn't afraid to touch just about anything.

Max:  "Look Mom!  I caught a slug!"
Me:  "Uhhh...ohhh...nasty!"
Max:  "Mom, it is NOT nasty.  It is just cool!"

He held on to his little slug for a good 30 minutes or so.  He whispered things to it like, "You are so good, slug.  What a good little boy."

Yuck.  Gives me the chills just thinking about holding that slimey little thing.  Max is brave!

Sam and Max worked hard on Saturday selling lemonade, suckers and popsicles to people coming through our neighborhood for our subdivision's yard sale event.  It was a hot, hot day and these guys were great salesmen.  They made a whopping 27 bucks!  (Thanks to some great friends and a few great tips!)  They've got their spending money for the summer!

It feels like summer time with the hot weather, lemonade stand, and of course watermelon!

Jake

We are huge fans of this little man.
Can you see why?

Jake is a sweet one.  He continues to be happy and content.  At 8 1/2 months he is a roller, but prefers to be upright if possible.  He loves to stand up and hold on to any and all furniture.  Bathtime is one of his favorites, too.  He loves to splash.  Jake also loves real food.  And I mean real food; like pizza, vegetable soup, and watermelon.  Forget the mashed up baby food stuff, this kid likes a real meal.

He's been giving out real hugs lately, and I love it.  Jake is definitely my most snuggly baby.  He loves his blanket and he loves to sleep.  Thank goodness!  He is growing so fast, and even got his first haircut.

I love watching him grow and getting peeks of his personality.  He is fun.  We adore him.

Calling all Toledoans...

When you live right across the hall from someone for 3 years, you are bound to become pretty darn close.  You talk to each other everyday.  You share recipes, food, and parenting tips.  You swap kids for playdates and date nights...and then you decide it's even easier to just swap a baby monitor and let the kids sleep in their own beds.

This was the Miller family for us.  They are some of our favorites from Toledo and we spent a few days with them a couple of weeks ago.  The boys all played amazingly well and acted as if they were still friends they see all the time from across the hall.  It was so, so fun to catch up a bit and see each other.  I love that they are in Dayton for a couple more years...it's not too far away.

We had both added babies to our families since we had last been together.  I still can't believe they have a little girl now.

There is something so wonderful about getting together with old friends.  It made me miss Toledo and our time there.  The memories and good people cannot be recreated.  It was such a great 4 years.

All you fellow Toledoans, past and present, a reunion is in the works.  Save your money now!  It's going to be epic!!  Are you in?!

Chicken Nuggets

Sam: Mom, what's your lucky number?

Me:  Hmmmm...three.  It's three for sure.

Sam: Why?

Me:  Sam plus Max plus Jake.  Three.

I love being a mother.  I love my three boys.  Through them I have learned to more fully appreciate, love and understand my own parents.  Through these three little boys I have learned a whole other dimension of love.  I am forever grateful to be a mother; their mother.

They spoiled me on this Mothers Day with breakfast in bed, handmade cards, flowers for my hair, and lego representations of me (my personal favorite by far!)

I was one lucky girl to spend the first part of this week with my own mother.  She came for a visit just because and it was wonderful.  My mother is everything I hope to be someday.  She is happy.  She is a listener, a real listener.  She is thoughtful.  I don't know how, but she remembers special things about everyone.  She is one of my favorite friends.  Oh, I love her!

And oh, I almost forgot!  Max gave me a card after church today. His teacher helped him fill in the blank to several statements about his mom.  This one was my favorite:

My mom is as pretty as....CHICKEN NUGGETS.

He does love him some chicken nuggets, so I'm taking it as a compliment.
