Jr. Preschool

Today was Max's last day of his first preschool experience.  He got together with these cute friends once a week to learn and play and he absolutely loved it.

He's definitely the runt of the group, but he has felt so grown up talking about his own school and his own friends.  It's gotta be hard sometimes being the younger brother and always watching your big brother do everything exciting and fun.  This group was the perfect thing for Max Man.

Thanks for a great year, friends!

Makin' me happy

Just a few good things about today.
First, I'm in love with these flowers near our front porch.  They exploded over night and I think they're my new fave.

Second, Max took a long, sweaty, spring nap on the couch.  There's not much better than nap time!

And finally, my favorite thing about today...

Sam is one determined kid.  He's wanted those darn training wheels off for a while and he knew today was the perfect day to master his bike.  Eric was home, the sun was shining, Max was napping, and I had my camera handy.  Perfect.

He's got it down pat now after just a few pushes from Dad and a couple of falls.  I love his confidence and his fearless attitude when it comes to trying something new.  I wish I could be more like him.

You would have thought Eric and I mastered something new and tricky today the way we've been smiling and beaming, but no, we're just proud parents.

Go Sam!

I love being a mother.
Who wouldn't love spending their days with these guys?

Sam made a sweet Mother's Day book in Primary yesterday and answered a few questions about me.  Two of them in particular made me chuckle.
What makes your mom happy?
Sam's response...doing chores!

I'm glad I've got him fooled!  I think it's the loud music I crank up when I clean.  I try to pretend I'm having the time of my life.

What is your mom really good at?
Sam's response...feeding babies!
Hmmmm....we've had quite a few discussions lately about feeding babies, and the anatomy involved.  I only hope he didn't go into too much detail about me feeding babies during Primary yesterday.

Today was a good day.  Is it kind of weird that I really like Mondays?  I love starting a new week, getting caught up and organized for what's ahead.  I also really like Mondays right now because we usually have an open schedule...oh, I love it.

We ventured out for a walk this afternoon and it turned into quite an adventure.

The boys and I ended up down by the creek.  We started with peeking over the edge, then tossing rocks into the water, and before I knew it both boys were in the water and completely covered in mud and muck.  They were in heaven and honestly, so was I.

They played for nearly two hours and completely wore themselves out.
I love days like today.

Some recent highlights

I've realized more than ever lately that I'm a need-something-to-look-forward-to-person.  Are you one of those?  You know, you need something fun, something different in the near future to keep you going and plugging along?

Eric's work schedule the last few months has most definitely brought this to my attention.  Life as a resident/resident's spouse can be tough.  I don't want to complain or wish my life away, but I gotta be honest...it's hard!

There I said it.
Now, on to some recent highlights!

The boys were thrilled with this recent garage sale find.  They were even thrilled to scrub the years and years of spiders' webs off of it.

Sam has started t-ball and loves it!  He was, however, a little disappointed about his team being assigned to wear purple.   He pulls it off nicely though.

Max loves going to the games and honestly thinks he's part of the team.  He wants to sit in the dug out and be on the field, and can't understand why he doesn't get to do everything his big brother does.

We saw some of my favorite girls, ever, a week ago.  It was kind of a last minute thing, but it was perfect.

My life is so good.  Now...if we can just get through the next 3 weeks...Eric has a week of vacation coming up.  I can hardly wait!
