Let it Snow!

Last week (Dec. 7-11) we got a bunch of snow in NW Missouri. Snow, then high winds, drifts, and sub-zero temperatures. I got 3 snow days from school and Wyatt got to try out his new coveralls he got from Grandpa Bill. He loves loves loves to play outside in the snow which is good because there in more snow in the forecast this week! We also took the side off his crib last night so he has a "big boy" bed now. I figured since I have 2 weeks of break from school, this is a good time to teach him to stay in bed on his own. The first night didn't go well, it was more of a game to him. We will see how it goes tonight!

Thanksgiving 2009

WE spent Thanksgiving dinner at Derek's parents house, his Mom's sister and her family were there to eat too (and the kids to play!)
Cousins Riley Ford, Brevyn Kellepouris, and Wyatt Holt - they were playing "beautiful" music!

Riley liked this cat.

Now the boys are sharing the piano.

Ryker Edwards and Wyatt at the Tipton Christmas parade - the firetrucks were loud!

It was a long night and we were at the end of the line to see Santa Claus. Wyatt DID NOT want to pose for pictures!

Grandpa Tom got him to pose, sort of, but not happily!

Fall Catch-up

Fall is flying by! We have kept busy but are also enjoying the calm before the holiday storm! Last Friday night (the 13th!) we went to the Nodaway-Holt Elementary school in Maitland to compete in a trivia tournament. We had two teams from South Holt (plus Derek and his sister and her husband). Our two teams got first and second place! The Holt-Pray-Scheuerell team got second, but we were short a player too. Sorry N-H alumni, South Holt prevails!
F: Keri Pray, Tabby Biermann, Landi Quinlin, Lindy, Julie Casey
B: Chad Scheuerell, Jon Pray, Derek, Steve Waigand, Ted Quinlin, Jon Casey

What type of precipitation comes from cumulonimbus clouds? Derek says "Hail", Lindy insisted on "Snow", "Hail" was right and I have not heard the end of it since!

How many ribs in an adult male? 24 I always get a kick out of Derek and Keri getting into sibling arguments. They always end amicably and they are both great trivia players (read: smart!)

We got to visit the Burt family a couple Fridays ago. Keileen and Wyatt played together pretty good and colored together. Mommy got to hold Tanner who is so cute!

Reading a book before bed. We have to ready 3-5 books before bed and Wyatt picks them out. This night he wanted to read them on the couch, no problem with Mommy!

After reading several book, Wyatt picks one out to take to bed. He goes to bed easily and reads for awhile before falling asleep. This is how we found him one night. So funny!

Halloween 2009

We had a great Halloween this year, beginning with fantastic weather. Wyatt was a frog and I had taught him to hop like a frog and rib-bit, but he was not so forthcoming with showing off these skills while trick-or-treating.
"Rib-bit, I am a frog! " At my parents house the weekend before Halloween.

Great-Grandma Vesta and Wyatt

"Can't I just stay and play here?"

"Don't frogs eat ladybugs?" Comment from Uncle Jeff Baumann.

Madison Baumann and Wyatt, how cute!

Fall Fun!

The weather has been pretty cold the last couple weeks. Wyatt did make a break for the outdoors one day, he put on his own shoes (backwards) and hat (Derek's) to get outside and ride his trike.

I want to play outside, please!

I was doing dishes Saturday morning, and Wyatt insisted helping. I got out this step stool and he was highly entertained for a long time. The floor and rug were soaking too!

Yummy! Derek bought and made a Jello desert last night. He thought it was time for Wyatt to learn how to lick the beaters.

Uh-oh, now he won't let go!
(Below) Wyatt is going to be a frog for Halloween. I have been working with him on hopping. Do you think he is ready for some hop-scotch?!

Go Tigers!

We had our friends the Baumann's over for the big Mizzou-Nevada football game on September 25th. Wyatt and Madison go to the sitters together and play very well with each other. Wyatt even tried to hug her a couple time which turned into a body-slam. She is a tough girl and didn't mind!
Wyatt and Madison, trying to share (its hard when you are little)

This worked out better, each kid with a parent and toys.

Madison is getting very close to walking on her own. I got the toy out for her and she was scooting around all over the place!
Wyatt has discovered that he likes apples, I mean REALLY likes them! He would eat one for all 3 meals and in this picture I let him have one at breakfast. He had already eaten 2 waffles so he couldn't finish the apple, so he decided to haul it around in his dozer and wagon!

Flavor of the month - Diego!

Wyatt goes through phases of tv show characters he likes. We started out with Bob the Builder, Sesame Street was very popular this summer, and now we are onto Diego! I think it helps that Derek gets excited too when Diego come on, they both try to sing the intro song. Here is Wyatt watching the beginning, he is so excited!

Weekend fun!

Last weekend was VERY BUSY for us! We had the Holt County Autumn Festival activities (I was working all day there.) My Mom and Dad came up to watch Wyatt on Saturday so Derek could work (someting about getting ready for harvest and moving cattle). These pictures are backwards in chronological order, I don't know why Blogger does this now.
On Sunday, there was a Family Festival at the North Andrew school put on by a local church. We went and ate and rode a pony and jumped in a bouncey house. Derek and Wyatt liked the playground equipment at the school.

Wyatt rode on the FFA float for a bit during the parade. He thought he was big stuff hanging out with all of those High School kids!

Ma and Wyatt got out a bubble machine he got for his birthday (Thanks Schweiser's!)

On Friday, school let out early in Oregon for the Fair, but we headed across to Bolckow for the North Andrew Homecoming parade. Wyatt thought the fire truck was "youd" (loud).

The purpose of our presence at the North Andrew Homecoming parade was to support our cousin Clayton Townsend. He was up for Homecoming King (and won!) and a integral part of the Cardinals football team (who won too!) You can also see Aunt LouAnn in the background in the red shirt - Hi Lou!

Summer's over

Last weekend was Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer (mine is officially when school starts). I don't have many pictures from the last couple weeks, we have been busy with starting back to school and me dealing with turning 30. We did celebrate with a good old-fashioned driveway party but there is no photographic evidence, sorry. Derek also took me out to eat at Fogo de Chao on the KC Plaza, it was delicious and filling (snaps for Derek!) Now that all that is behind us, we can get back to a semi-normal life. I did dig these pictures up for your viewing pleasure!

Helping make the bed, well more like unmake it!

Wyatt and Don Callow playing in the sand. We attended Callow bash at Big Lake again this year. This is the only picture I took; but we did get to see Jessica and Wes Uhlmeyer and Sweet Baby Ethan!!! He is so cute and hairy and a great addition to their family.

The big summer project that started a month late, new corrals and fences on the farm! We have traced the age of the previous fences to at least the late 1940's. Those have all been torn out and pipe fences put in with a new waterer for cattle and dogs and 2-year olds!
Woodie the dog enjoying some fresh water!

Parenting experts tell you to give your child "chores" to do to make them feel like a worthy part of the family. This is not hard for me to do with Wyatt, he ALWAYS wants to help! Here he is helping load his laundry. He also like to unload the dryer, carry empty buckets back to the barn, and feed the cats. And for 2, he does a great job!
Do you like our laundry audience? That is Tapioca and Cocoa, our backdoor cats. They are almost always sitting in the window watching us and waiting for some food (from the hand of Wyatt)

Happy Birthday Allison!

Our friend Allsion Schweiser turned 30 this weekend. Her husband Cory planned a surprise party for her at the orchard their family owns. I think she was surprised, but she snuck up on everyone while we were hanging out. Whoops! Her son Cole is making sure the icing is edible.

Grandpa Steve Schweiser made train from wood for the kids to play on. Here are Wyatt and Cole in windows. They had a great time on all the playground stuff there!

Greg Baumann and Madison, she was hungry!

Derek was really impressed that Wyatt could hold on to the monkey bars and hang for a long time! He made me come watch Wyatt do it.

Just a funny picture from Sunday afternoon.

100th post all the way from Omaha

I noticed that this in my 100th post, I am surprised that I have actually kept up with this blog! I mentioned earlier in the summer about taking Wyatt to the zoo, well Derek turned it into a 3 day vacation to Omaha. I can't say no to him when he actually gets time off the farm so off we went! Omaha is only about 1 1/2 hour drive from our house so it was an easy drive. I have only been in Nebraska once or twice, and that was to eat dinner in Rulo.
Wyatt and I at the giraffe, ostrich and penguin exhibit. (Do these three species live together in nature? hmmmm....)

A very tired Wyatt woke up in time to ride a train through the zoo, those are wallabies in the background (this picture is for Derek's sister and her family who live in Sydney!)

In the petting zoo at the zoo the only animals they had to pet were goats. Wyatt was carrying bits of hay over to this nanny goat for her to eat. Wyatt loves to feed our dog and cats at home too. Sometimes he feeds the inside cats so much there is a huge pile of food in the bowl and all over the floor.

Omaha has a pedestrian bridge that goes over the Missouri River, so we walked over to Iowa and back. Wyatt insisted on pushing his own stroller for a bit.

The Children's Museum had a traveling exhibit that was Sesame Street characters and teaching about body parts. The entrance to the exhibit looked like the show set. Wyatt loves Sesame Street (especially Elmo) so we thought it would be fun for him.

"Weeee-oooooo, weeee-oooo" Wyatt played in this old fire truck at the Children's Museum and that is his noise for firetrucks.

Oh, watch out Daddy! I took this of Wyatt doing the "mad-flop". Those of you with toddlers knows this move well, they get mad and drop like dead-weight to the floor. Good thing Derek is used to carrying buckets of feed, I let him take care of this tantrum.

There was a ball machine at this museum that entertained Wyatt for about an hour! I told Derek it was worth the money to pay for this place, Wyatt was soooooo tired when we left he barely made it through lunch. He took a great nap this afternoon (and so did I!)

The last day we went to their Union Station and they have a train museum. Since Wyatt really likes "choo-choo's" He was in heaven all morning - and slept all the way back home!
