Christmas 2008

Wyatt did wake up pretty early this Christmas, not because he was excited about Santa, but because Derek was up getting ready to go out and chore. Here was his gift from us, a toy tool set.
In Wyatt's stocking were some cool things, a "Momo" or Elmo doll and this neat ball.
Here Wyatt is helping his Daddy unload his stocking.

Our first stop on Christmas was Derek's parents house. Wyatt got to wear his Christmas pjs up there. Here he is with his Uncle Jon watching others open their gifts.

Wyatt likes crawling under and through things now, he was crawling under Grandma Terri's chair.

Wyatt watching Grandpa Bill open a gift of M&M's - I am sure Wyatt hopes that Papa will share them with him.

One of Wyatt's gifts, a little hoop. He immediately grabbed the ball and dropped it in the basket. I know I am biased, but I think he is a natural ball player!!!

Our second stop for the day was 3 hours away in Tipton to my parents house. Here is Wy with Aunt Stacey who is trying to help him open his gift.

Wy and Grandma Jeanne and Grandpa Tom. Wyatt wanted a little help reading one of his new books.

The Edwards gals, it was a long day and in this picture I have already changed into comfortable clothes - that is why I am dressed in an old sweatshirt that stays at my Mom and Dad's.

Chicklits Christmas Party

Hello, my name is Lindy Holt and I am in a book club. For those of you who do read for enjoyment (like myself, thanks Mom!) will understand this group. If you left chapter book reading behind in school, you will think we are weird. Several of us organized this group about 4 years ago - last year we decided to NOT read a book in December but just have a party. For those of you who think a book club is dorky, you haven't seen the drinks we have concocted and consumed! So this year we had our second annual Chicklits Christmas Party - rescheduled due to last week's snow. We do give out awards (named Chicklitzers, like Pulitzer.) This year I received the Chicklitzer for the book you were most surprised you liked. The book I chose was Snowflower and the Secret Fan . I have added a widget on the right side of this blog to Goodreads.com It is a website you can post what books you have read and your review. We post the book club book there too.
back row: Keri Pray, Chris Wheeler, Beth Gregory, Megan Baumann and Baby Madison
Front: Cara Weise and Lindy Holt
It was a small group due to the rescheduling - we missed you Allison, Sara and Janelle!

I made the awards and am giving Megan her Chicklitzer, "Book you would most like to see made into a movie" Her book was Marley and Me and is opening Christmas Day!

Here is a close up of the 2008 Chicklitzer awards. The "Easy Reader" award was for the book you would most likely read more than once. The book that won was "Twilight" and was a group pick. Yes, it is about teen vampires but it was a pretty good book and there are sequels!

The weather outside is frightful!

Wyatt had his first introduction to eggnog this weekend - and he loved it! You can sort of see his nog-stash. Derek mistakenly put the drink in his coffee mug and for a while afterwards, Wyatt wanted to drink out of it (even when it was coffee!)

Wyatt was very enthusiastic about the eggnog, as you can see by this picture. Derek is trying to get him to tilt his head back - a battle of wills!

Last week we got about 4 in. of snow on Tuesday (12-16) and then some ice on Thursday night to top it off. We got out of school early on Thursday and no school on Friday. The weathermen were predicting a worse ice storm and everyone was anxious after last year's doozie. It didn't amount to what they claimed, bu the freezing temps haven't helped either.

Scene from our bedroom window.

Since we got to stay home on Friday, I tried to get all my Christmas packages wrapped and Wyatt played with his window clings. These were a great buy ($1) and he was entertained for a good while. Some of the bigger ones he tore into pieces, so I picked them up and put them in the trash can. Wyatt witnessed this and proceeded to pick up the rest and threw them in the trash too - and then clapped for himself! What a great helper! We did leave them in the trash since they were getting pretty yucky or "ucky" in Wyattese. I did buy a couple set of these clings and will bust out a new package someday when he is bothering me. :)

Pictures from Grandma's camera

I have been slacking lately on the picture taking. So I am using some of Grandma Terri's picture for this post. This picture is of Wyatt and a singing holiday bear.

How cute are we?!

What does this thing do?

He, he, he. Wyatt likes to try and "hide" in the cabinets in Grandma's kitchen.

Wyatt is a little climber right now, trying to get up on the chair with you or on a table. Here, I think he is trying to climb in the chair with Grandpa Bill.

Hagar baby shower

Over Thanksgiving weekend, my sorority friends and I got together for Julie's baby shower! This is her and Jeff's first baby and we are glad to see them anytime we can (they live in Atlanta). L-R in nickname form - Tucker, Pup, Clark, Davey, KVogt, and Lucky.
Seeing my friends makes me appreciate the time we spent together in the Sigma Kappa house.

Julie and Baby Boy Hagar get a John Deere toy!
I think Wyatt had a good time, he got to play with Keileen and ALL of her toys. He was pretty well-behaved too!

Thanksgiving 2008

I cannot believe Thanksgiving flew by so fast! We had so much going on and the weather wanted to throw us some curve balls too. To illustrate the big swing in weather, here is a picture from a few days before Thanksgiving - we got to use the slide in mere sweatshirts!I love my slide! Thanks Windsors!

When we returned from Tipton on Sunday, there was snow on the ground and a nip in the air! Luckily Wyatt has not wanted to play in the snow yet.

While in Tipton, Wyatt and Grandpa rode around on the tricycle.

Derek and I purchased MU-KU football game tickets again this year. Nothing went well it seemed like; the weather was cold AND wet, we had a hard time getting in the game and the game itself did not end in our favor. I have already blocked it from my memory.

Wyatt went to see Santa after the Tipton Christmas Parade (on the Friday after Thanksgiving). He sat in this threatening pose - never actually swinging the candy cane at Santa. Hopefully next year will go smoother!

Wyatt with Aunt Stacey waiting for the parade to begin! Our parade is at night so the floats can decorate with electric lights! Very pretty!

Wyatt is enjoying sitting at the table like a big person when he can. Here, he is asking my Mom a question. What question, we don't know, we are still working on our baby talk.

Wyatt and his cousin Brevyn enjoyed each other's company at Derek's family Thanksgiving.

General shenanigans - I heard a strange noise one afternoon and went to investigate. Wyatt had found the sack of cheerios, grabbed it and shook vigorously! This is the site I found - cheerios EVERYWHERE! I guess he wanted to graze for cheerios!

Welcome the Baumann's!

I guess Megan has been hounded enough for her to start her own blog! I can't believe Madison is a month old already.

Big weekend in Tipton

The Tipton Cardinals were in the State Semi-finals last weekend against the visiting Thayer bobcats. A win in this game sent you to the Dome in STL for the state championship. Unfortunately Tipton did not come out on top this time. They did have a great season and we are so proud of my cousin Tanner Edwards #16 - this was his senior year.
Go Big Red! It was pretty good weather for the game and there was a great turnout of fans.
The other big event of the weekend was my Grandparents' 65th wedding anniversary! We all went to a restaurant in Tipton and had dinner. Almost everyone in the family was in attendance! (Derek stayed home and my Uncle George had a work obligation.)

What a great looking group!

Stacey, Mom and Wyatt selecting their meal. Nick's @3:10 is the name of the restaurant and is pretty good. A kid I went to high school owns it and you Lake travelers should keep it in mind as you pass through Tipton.

My cousin Dylan is enticing Wyatt with his cell phone - Wyatt loves cell phones, but only ones that work. We have given him our old ones but he just throws them down. Smarty pants.

More football pics - after the game, my Mom, me and Wyatt. I have been gone from home too long, I didn't have any outwear that was red to show my support. Black and gold are dominant colors in my life now (MU and South Holt).
Across Hwy 50 from the football field was a tailgate party. During the 3rd quarter I walked over there to visit my friend Holly (we were already losing). I though this upside down bobcat was funny; at the end of the game it was turned right side up and the Thayer fans thanked us.
Thanks to my cousin Krissie bright idea, Wyatt and Ryker played for a while in the gravel and we got to watch the game. I remember the days of making gravel hills at THS football games!

Wyatt and Connor

Derek and I babysat our friends' son Connor last Friday, he is 6 months older than Wyatt. They had a great time and totally terrorized our cats.
Here, both boys are trying to carry Dixie. She tolerated it pretty well and didn't try and scratch them.

" He, he I have my chair now" Wyatt did have a little trouble sharing his toys.

Watching TV.

the Baumann-Wheeler wedding

Last weekend was the big Baumann-Wheeler wedding. Chris Baumann and Eric Wheeler were married and we had a great time at their reception. I realized later I took very few pictures and I should have gotten one of Derek and I while we were dressed up, oh well.
Proud Grandpa Dave with Baby Madison. She was the second most beautiful girl there, behind the beautiful bride Chris! I promised Dave I would put a picture of him on this blog - now we need to get Megan going on her blog!

The growing family - Megan, Madison and Greg Baumann

The best picture I took all night of the happy couple (sorry it is not better Chris!). Everything was so pretty and the food was delicious. Congratulations!
