Joshua at gymnastics

Joshua is still taking gymnastics and enjoying it.  He isn’t headed to the olympics, but he is getting really strong and having fun.  Whenever he makes it to the top of the rope, I’m looking down, reading, or just stepped outside or something.  So, when he climbed up and I had my phone out, I got a picture!

Brownie Hike

Also at the end of April, I went on a hike with the brownies.  It was right up in Wild Horse Canyon, by the school, but due to all the winter rains, a lot of fossils had been washed us.  Lizzie had so much fun fossil hunting that I took Joshua back a few days later to look for some more!

Temple Day

Donald and Sarah went to the Temple to do baptisms for the dead on April 25th.  It was a special day for them to spend together.

Spring weather

April 24, 2017
We had some beautiful spring weather, so the kids played outside and did their homework in the hammock.  I wish we had more days with time like this!

Easter Egg Hunt

Oops, I just found the pictures from the Easter Egg Hunt!  Here they are!

Valley View Band at Disneyland

The middle school band had the opportunity to perform at Disneyland, well California Adventure Park on April 21st.  We didn’t chaperone, but since we still had annual passes, we were able to go and hear her play.  She then spent the rest of the day hanging out with her friends instead of us!  We are still getting used to that!  Donald and I enjoyed the day and had the opportunity to get stuck at the top of Big Thunder Mountain!  They had us get out and walk down the steps to get out.  It was a fun little adventure.

Vickie turns 74

On April 19th, Vickie turned 74.  Since she had just had her hip replaced, we couldn’t take her out and just stopped by with cake for her.

Court house field trip

Joshua took a field trip to the Simi Valley courthouse and police station.  They did a mock trial and he was made the defendant.  After having had lproblems with one of his sixth grade teachers accusing him of cheating, I was really mad that he was going to be put on trial.  I sat frozen in the back trying to decide whether or not to say something.  Since that teacher wasn’t there, I let it play out and I’m glad I did.  The evidence was unclear as to his guilt or innocence, but the jury of his peers found him not guilty!  I took it as his classmates saying they knew he wasn’t guilty.  I think he did too and was super pleased with the outcome.  Everyone who knew the situation said the same thing, that the kids were sending a message to Joshua that they knew he was not guilty, no matter what the teacher said.  It was a very reassuring feeling.

After the court, we toured the police station and all the kids had mug shots and a chance to sit in the back of a police car!

Dad turns 80!

We celebrated my dad turning 80 on April 16, 2017!  We went to dinner at Red’s with Wayne and Jolene’s family and had cake and ice cream!
Grandpa with all of his grandkids!

Easter Eggs

Here are some of the eggs they colored.  They don’t even need help anymore!

Easter 2017

We had a nice quiet Easter.  The kids dyed eggs and we went to the Easter Egg Hunt with Wayne and Jolene, but only Elizabeth is young enough to search for eggs now.
