Brownie Community Service
Elizabeth’s Brownie Troop went to one of the retirement communities here in town and took cards that they made. It was a hard thing for Lizzie to do, especially since a lot of the people she spoke with were very hard to understand. Still, I was proud of her for trying.

(Backup) Auntie Brenda visits
Since Brenda and Ash moved to San Diego just before Christmas, the kids have really missed them. Brenda came to visit for a few days and we went to dinner with her and my parents. Sarah was actually in DC when she came, so she didn’t get to see her!

The Music Van
It is always fun when the Music Van comes to school and it was Joshua’s turn to experience it. I thought he would come home wanting to play the trumpet, but he basically said, it was neat and I enjoyed it, but I don’t want to practice it all the time. I don’t blame him. Still, it was a fun experience and I’m glad the school and PTA take the time to have them come. Plus, you can see my great bulletin boards in the background!
Spring school awards
Sarah had her National Jr Honor Society Induction in the spring. We were proud of her for not only maintaining high grades, but doing community service almost weekly at my mom’s church when she goes to feed the homeless.
She also did an individual band competition and received and “Excellent “ Mark. She was pretty excited about it!
Joshua received the character trait award for Sportsmanship. I was very happy about this because of the poor treatment he had received from one of his teachers. The kids vote on this award, so it was really his peers who were saying that he deserved it!
