mood: lazy
listening to: motorcycle drive-by - third eye blind

my exact written response to "How was the fireworks thing the other week?":

Fireworks thing was good…’cept that we didn’t even make it anywhere close to the convention centre, cos people who were too cheap to pay for fireworks (and I must say, Malaysians are one blardy cheap society) decided to double/triple park along the road and clog up traffic to AND from putrajaya, thereby causing me, the driver and three other friends who had PAID for tickets, to spend 4 hours on the road, of which only 0.5 of an hour was spent, outside the car, watching the fireworks from a distance.

exact written response to the above:

Oh, that's terrible... You're taking it really well though... =)

i've got lots of pictures i haven't posted up. why? please refer to "mood" as highlighted above in bold. if you wanna see some, it's already on facebook and friendster.

  • raoul autumn/winter 2007 event (mandrin oriental)

  • sulyn's birthday (wabisabi at plaza ttdi - review later lah k?)

  • lunch at relish (brabus showroom)

  • dinner with sulyn at somo (somo-lah...duh!)

  • drinks with wyewah and sulyn at the apartment. the service was l.o.u.s.y. but boy oh boy!...the strawberry pavlova was out of this world! i think this deserves a picture...heheh* - the meringue...sigggghh.....firm and cooked thoroughly, and yet, slightly chewy at the same time, with a mild toffee flavour. and the cream! plain, pure and simple. fresh. it was soOOoo good, that by the time i took the picture, it was the only one left from a serving of three. =)

click on me and have a closer look damnit!

go ahead. take a bite. i know you want to... ;)

mood: still wondering/wandering
listening to: lightning crashes - live

came across this today:

Absence is to love what wind is to fire; it extinguishes the small, it enkindles the great - Helen Keller

nice =)

facebook is addictive.

i miss my best friend.

she gave me her vote of confidence, that i could do what was necessary in the short term, without being a changed person in the long run.

ah. the comfort of friendship.

tonight, sleep eludes me yet again.

this is gross....

my best friend's back! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!! =) =) =) i love her to bits...i really do. just having her back for a week is enough to make me happy... well, for this week anyway =)

on other fronts: my left big toe is now double the size of the one on my right. why? cos some jackass of an insect decided it had nothing better to do today.

meh*

but yeah. still happy =)

accidental adventure

Thursday, August 09, 2007

mood: wide awake
listening to: thanks for the memories - fall out boy

so. what was intended to be a casual coffee session with the likes of ean, eujin and pat, with the inevitable talk of paintball, turned out to be just that - and more.

like what, you ask?

a mini adventure to the old now-abandoned national art gallery, which is a pretty ominously freaky place to be at night.

and why would i want to go to such a place, you ask?

because pat's planning to shoot a mini mtv project there, and eujin wanted to see the place, and i just.happened.to.be.there.

what would possess three people to go to an abandoned building, whereby not too long ago, on a literally dark and stormy night, one of the three in question, had gone there with another two, only to stumble upon the walking dead (a.k.a. junkies), escapes me.

peer pressure kuaaa... heh*

anyway, the chicken shit one (yes, yours truly) didn't allow much opportunity for the other two to scurry around the place. in all fairness to myself, let me just state, that it wasn't the building or the likes of "i see dead people" that freaked me out, it was what would happen if the junkies came out and confronted us. and you don't need me to tell you that desperate people do desperate things, right?

aside from the mini adventure, also ended up having a two-hour long mamak session with the all knowing pat, and engaged in conversation (more like a monologue on pat's part really...) spanning from survival instincts to virus vs. bacteria to the romans to slavery to racism to the stalinist state to monkeys (yes) to the mapping of the human genome to ... well... you get the idea.

some snippets courtesy of p.p. from tonight:

"fight for a cause, but if it's money, you've almost already lost, because it will never be enough"

"i'll beat you into civility!"

"all politicians end their career in disappointment"

and that concludes my little bit of adventure for today.

good night! =)

just trundling along...

mood: bolstered by laughter
listening to: maneater - nelly furtado

so what have i actually been up to these past couple of months, besides grumbling on my blog?...in no particular order...
  • went to singapore with sue and rachel (bought too much...again!)
  • went to hong kong two weeks later (bought a lot as well but hey...i had my mobile atm (read: my pa) with me...so..... heheh*)
  • joined the guys for paintball on one of the sundays - man... you ain't seen leeches till you see a big ass chomper with brown, green and yellow patterns, sucking so hard onto the strap of your mask, you'd think it had the starring role in deep throat...(!) and i'd like to state for the record that when you've "killed" a person, you don't go on shooting at the dead while they're walking away to heaven! (credit for the two bruises on my back go to mr. low "trigger-happy" eujin!!....grr.. :P)
  • went to aaliya (new sri lankan restaurant/bar next to jarrod & rawlin's in damansara heights) with pat and ted. to sum up my...erm...food review: great ambience, pity bout the food
  • went to exotic (new vietnamese/thai/cambodian restaurant next to the "ex-cristros"). the multi-coloured neon signboard from the main road gives the impression of some strip joint (and with a name like "exotic"...go figure..). you won't miss it. heheh* quickie review: pat and i went there two weeks in a row. the first time, we had an eight course meal between the two of us. the second, well...with joa and pete, we doubled it...i think. anyway, more hits than misses. must try: chicken wings in cambodian tamarind sauce....ooOOooo.....sooOOooo g.o.o.d.....

  • watched harry potter once. transformers twice.
  • attempted to queue up at 4.45am at the doors of klcc for harry potter and the deathly hallows, but quickly tracked back when crowd of 300 or more stood before my eyes. settled for a mcdonald's breakfast with sue at 5am instead. slept till 2pm only to wake up to find that the sweetie had gotten the book for me from carrefour while i was sleeping. awwww..... hugs hugs*
  • my first scrabble 7 letter word!!!!: C.L.E.A.N.E.D. with the "D" joining the end of R.E.U.S.E. i even took pictures of it...and my poor opponent of course...ah, the look of defeat...how gratifying...heehee*
  • relish restaurant launch at the brabus showroom in bangsar. theme was white. i showed up in black. sigh. honest mistake i tell you! or maybe...just maybe...it was a subliminal cry for attention...ya'think? ;)
  • conversations across the board included
  1. a more than healthy dose on relationships/women/men/shit happens bla bla bla...
  2. a two hour session on self actualisation and a projection of its impact on mankind in general in the coming years
  3. history of the north/south korean conflict
  4. contrary viewpoints on the existence of God
  5. anything, and everything about paintball (thanks guys...)
  6. we've also perfected the "standard script": "you're better off without him", "there are plenty of fish in the sea", "it's his loss", "be strong" and "revisit, don't relive"

***

i think i've covered most bases. plenty of pictures were taken in between. too late and too lazy to put them up. general conclusion is: being with my friends requires too much thinking. ha!

p/s: for food review on "exotic" - best to check with joaquim. she's a lil' more disciplined bout these things than i am. =)
