Super Duper Excited!

He crawled up the stairs. Man, two milestones in less than a week. We should have moved sooner:) Since we've moved, he's walked along furniture more, started to crawl on all fours, crawled up the stairs, and been a lot happier. Must be something in the water!

Come and sit!

Well, we're still alive. I think this is the longest I've ever gone without posting since I started this November 2007. This is our favorite room in the house right now. Mainly because it's the only one done:) So, come over and have a sit. We're ready for ya! Just don't ask for something to eat or wear. We have no idea where anything is!

New House Pictures

Jackie was saying I needed to post pictures of the new house. Here are a few. Sorry about my terrible photography skills. The house really isn't leaning:)
This shot is taken from the front porch. Where the kids are standing is where we'll put up a fence to cut off the rest. We'll make it RV parking to the street.
Here is an angle of the backyard. We're going to make the deck a little bigger so we can have our grill on it. There's a lot that we want to do with this, it will take a while to lay it all out. We'll see what we come up with. So many possibilities, so much time:)
This is another angle of the backyard from the inside of the fence. This is the corner I would like to make a fire pit. We're big into roasting and cooking outdoors, so this would be great! I can't wait for all the fun stuff.
Once we're all settled, I'll post pictures of the inside. Just as a reference, The deck leads to the dining/kitchen, the next window is the girl's room, and the last window is the boy's room. It doesn't look like much now, but we'll make it into something wonderful. Even if we're the only ones that think so:)

Brennon

Recently, I have been thinking about this little guy. It seems that I've been waiting for him to change his whole life (i.e. colic, crying, crawling, walking....) But, as I was looking at him today, I realized, I'm loving his journey. Here are a few things that make Brennon my Brennon:)

~ I was pushing him in the big stroller while Caden was pushing Shelby in the umbrella stroller. We switched for a few seconds for Caden to get a drink. When Brennon pushed his cute little nose up to the mesh of the canopy and saw I wasn't pushing him, he started to cry. He loves me that much!

~ We were having dinner and he needed a drink. I gave him his and went about my business. He took a sip, started to cry, and pointed his incredibly fat little arm at my drink. Mind you, we had the same water, but he wanted mine. He wouldn't take his again. He loves me that much!

~ Now that he knows that I'm Mommy, he'll wake up every morning and call for me. It's cute, because he hasn't gotten upset once if I didn't get in there fast enough. He still doesn't stand in his bed, but once he sees me, he tries. He gives me his cute little grin and says with a sigh of relief, "Mama." He loves me that much!

~ He has been made to stand a lot more since the occupational therapist showed me some moves to keep his incredibly adorable thunder thighs under him. He doesn't like it that much, so it's kind of a battle. I've been winning more and more:) Today, I was sitting on the couch with some yogurt, when what do I see? A cute little head pushing up next to the couch. He stood the whole time so I could spoon yogurt into his cute little cheeks. He really loved me then!

~ He just got the concept of hugs. Now whenever I go to get him out of his bed, he puts his chubby little arms around my neck, lays his head on my shoulder and lets me dance. I love him that much!

He has been my toughest child so far, but looking at the last 16 months, I couldn't imagine my life any other way. He has shown me that no matter how hard life is, there is always something worth looking at. Right now, it's him!

Independance Day Weekend

Proud to be American!
We started out the weekend spending time with my family. We got to Roy at around 6:00. We played and went to bed. The next morning we just vegged before Randy and Caden went hiking with Steve and his kids, and my mom and I went swimming with Keilie, Shelby, and Brennon. We headed up to Randy's parents' for dinner that night and just hung out.
Saturday we got ready for the fun. Here is Shelby with the Shelby. She was such a ham. Grandpa had his car in the car show all day. We went to visit and relax.
After the car show we went to the parade. Caden and Keilie were lucky enough to get invited to ride in it. They got to go with cousins on the Reece's float. They had a blast and even threw us a few pieces of candy! Caden is the one in the white:)
After the parade and carnival, the neighbors got together for a slip and slide. We didn't really ask to join, but they didn't seem to mind. The kids had such a fun time on this and said how much they wanted one when they got home!
After the slide we had family come to Grandpa and Grandma's house for the rest of the night. We didn't get any pictures because we were having too much fun. This was the first time the WHOLE Dirks family has been together since November 2006. It was the funnest night we've had in a long time. I'm sad to say I don't have a picture of Randy's Coke rocket. It didn't go as shown and ended up exploding all over him. We had a good laugh and a ton of fun. We're so grateful for the freedoms we have. We're proud to live in The United States of America!
