Landon got a pump on Tuesday Nov. 17, and we practiced with saline instead of insulin. Then yesterday, Nov. 19, the nurse came over and we put in insulin. So for now it is official! The nurse said that with kids Landons age we may be switching back and forth because he may decide he doesn't like it. But for now he is doing the pump . I made him a sling type bag to hold his pump under his clothes. I used to pant pockets and a srip of leather for the strap. I also made a stretchy band with a pocket for him to wear on his leg under his clothes. He can then stick the pump inthe pocket and then put on his pants. Hopefully he will like one or the other because I think it will make wearing the pump a lot easier. This is the pocket sling I made.
Here is the stretchy band thing I sewed. This is the inset.
Here his the inset from the side so you can see the cannula that goes into his skin and distributes the insulin.
Here Landon is wearing the inset.
Here is a sideway picture of him wearing his pump.
I tried this once before, I figured if I posted that I was trying to lose weight and everyone saw and held me accountable then It would happen. It obviously didn't work then but I am trying again. Although now I have a weight loss ticker, hopefully knowing that everyone who looks at my blog sees it so I had better do well. Who knows if it will work but I want to be healthy, I want to enjoy clothes shopping and what not. Okay, well here it goes!
Okay, So we had Kyle tested for the antibodies that are present in your body if you have diabetes or are more likely to develop diabetes. He was first tested at the beginning of August but they lost his test which was frustrating! So we had to take back in and have him poked again, twice, to get another blood sample. He didn't cry as hard the second time but they did have to take blood from both of his arms to make sure they had enough. Finally a few days ago we got the results and ... wait for it, wait for it, wait foooor iiiiiiiiiiiittttttt! Negative! His body dose not contain any of the antibodies! But that doesn't mean he won't, so we will have him tested each year to make sure. We were both sooooo relieved! I also wanted to post some recent pictures of the boys. We went to go visit Grandpa Great, his health is not good and now that the boys are older I hope they will remember him better. He was in very good spirits when we got there and was doing sooo well. I love him sooooo much! We also got to see and visit with Susan. So enjoy the pic.s!
Camille had her wedding shower today at my parents house. WE made the happy couple candy grams and I took pictures of them but I couldn't get them to upload. So here are the ones I got to work. Camille and Chris cutting the cake Laurie made.
