As October Comes To An End...

In the twist of an eye, I'm already back home for almost a month. I honestly didn't realise time passed so quickly. I practically wasted a month. I did nothing all day long except eat, sleep eat sleep. Not clear enough? Let me give you an idea how my typical day is like since I came home. Yes and I mean it. Almost every single day is like that.

1600h: Wakes up.
1700h: Water plants, do laundry, clean Dino's shit.
1800h: Dinner with PaPa and Mummy.
2000h: Meet Darling either at her place or my place.
2200h: Supper with Darling and her brother. (sometimes mahjong at Darling's place)
0000h: Back home in my room.
0000h - 0600h: Blog, watch TV, watch DVD, download movies, watch soccer!!
0700h: Sleep.
0700h - 1600h: Still ZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ

This is how unhealthy my life is at the moment. Something has to be done. I need a job. I need a job badly and yes I know, speaking it alone does not help. Tomorrow I will flip through the newspaper and start sending out my C.V. Really!! For now, here's what else that happened since I came back which I forgotten to include in my previous entries.

THIS is a very very very precious photo. PaPa and Muumy have banned Dino from sleeping in my room because of his fur and all. But one night when they were over at JB for the weekend, I allowed Dino to sneak in for the night. While I was watching soccer on tele, I cannot help but notice how adorable this little baby is. I took a shot of him sleeping as quickly as I could. Look how perfect a spot he's chosen. RIGHT ON MY PILLOW!

This is the Red Rhino. I caught a rare glimpse of this from the window of my 14 storey apartment. I have no idea what it was doing parked there in the middle of a scorching hot afternoon. For my overseas friend, The Red Rhino is like the miniature version of the ordinary huge red fire engine that gets activated when there's a fire. For small cases usually the Red Rhino is dispatched.

And now, my favourite part of the month. I've always been bitching about how I hate the idea of Darling becoming a flight stewardess for Singapore Airlines and all. Hmm, as of this moment, I'm going to take whatever I said back. And here are my reasons...

(1) Not every one can be an SQ stewardess. You need to pass through all 5 stages of interviews to be eligible.
(2) She gets to travel around the world so we'll know which countries to avoid for our honeymoon.
(3) She has a lot of days off which means whenever I am back for holidays, we'll have ample time together.
(4) Last but not least, she's paid heaps and I get a lot of gifts!! *wahahahahaha* Darling, make sure you stay in this line until I say you can get out!

Can you see the picture above? She got this for me from her last visit to Japan.

It's now out of the bag. It's in a small little box, what could it be?

It is a handphone charm! Honestly, I did not expect something like this from her but the moment I took it out of the box, it was an instantaneous love at first sight. I so totally love this thing but it just doesn't suit my current run-down phone. I'll use it when I get my new phone in January.

*ahem* Is it January Darling? *hahahahahahahahahahahahahaa*

KPE Family Day

KPE, Kallang - Paya Lebar Expressway. This is Singapore's latest addition to the different stretches of freeway. And what's so special about this one? PaPa is involved in the construction of KPE. He and his team of engineers have been toiling out in the Sun for the past few years building this expressway. It is apparently the longest underground tunnel in Southeast Asia.

Yesterday was the KPE Family Day organised by LTA. PaPa, Mummy, Darling and I attended it. The day's events include free goodie bags collection, free food and of course the main event, the walk through the tunnel.

The tunnel wasn't opened for the public to drive yet so to commemorate the completion of the project, LTA invited all its staff's family members for a walk through the tunnel. Some ministers were invited there as well as guests of honour. Anyways, enough said. A picture paints a thousand words so let's have a look at the day's proceedings.

We arrived at the reporting venue, changed into our KPE T-shirts and got ready for the warm-up. Can you see the crowd bulding up at the back?

Darling and I even wore the temporary tatoo that came in the goodie bags that were given to everyone present. Can you identify whose hands belong to who? Easy...

Darling and I in front of the row of stalls where people grabbed their last minute breakfast before the long walk.

PaPa and Mummy at the stage where the MC was shouting like crazy! ARRG!!

That's the MC!! Some skaters warming up. And guess what those aunties are looking at? MUSHROOMS ON THE GROUND! *faintz*

That's our contingent for that day.

Darling and Mummy, doing their very own version of what they call "warm-up".

And then it's show time!! See the crowd making the entrance of the tunnel? Way awesome!!

PaPa was extremely proud of his project and couldn't stop explaining to us how each and every component of the tunnel was built. Here, he shows us his little project. *haha*

Darling and I standing in the middle of the tunnel. One day, cars will pass through where we were standing.

See the signage behind? It says we were directly below a river. How cool is that?! Engineers and their magic!

This, what you're witnessing, is probably only 2% of the crowd that day. No joke!!

After a few hours of non-stop walking, we finally reached the finish line. All 4 of us queued up at the Milo booth (the kind we had at the stadium on Sports Day during secondary school) for free Milo. Each of us "kiasu" people grabbed 3 to 4 cups. *hahahah* This is to show our true Singaporean-ness!! That tiring walk took the toll on us and all of us went home and fainted for the rest of the afternoon.

A Day Out At East Coast Park

Today is one of those rare days that I get to go for a day's outing with Darling and her family. Not that I'm a busy man or anything but it's not often that her parents are available on a weekend. All of us headed for East Coast Park, the famous beach in Singapore. We should have set off earlier because by the time we reached there, the sky was almost dark already and all plans of swimming and all were eventually put aside.

We went to the famous East Coast Hawker Stalls to have our late lunch/early dinner. Food there is awesome! A pity I didn't get any pictures of the food or I'm sure you guys at Perth will drool. Here's a few pictures of what happened. Oh by the way, check out the doggie pram Darling bought for her babies. Crazy! That's NaNa and PiPi. Locked up in the pram. Believe me, many people thought Darling and I were strolling with our kids until they heard NaNa and PiPi barked. One of the furry friends we found at the hawker centre. I have no idea what this breed is. Something between a Siberian Husky and an Alaskan Malamute. But he sure was a good boy. Sitting quietly on his bed watching his master munch away on chicken wings. Poor boy! And Darling brought NaNa to test out the day's waves. NaNa looking very cautious with every step she took. PiPi joined NaNa by the beach but the hydrophobia her soon gave up and chose to stay ashore. Here are the two of them cleaned and ready to go home. Oh here's a little something for you Fung! Check out these castles. They're built out of pure sand. Nothing else. So you think your models at Architecture School is tough? Check this out mate! And here's one of my favourites! Fung, can you do this? That I believe is the office where the sandcastle building resgisteration is done. This is not made out of sand by the way. These are solid bricks. And so, the day ended prematurely due to the late start to the day. *haha* You can see Darling's parents not willing to move. But Eric (on the right) can't wait to go home as we's plan a round of Mahjong for that night, which I lost a lot by the way! Damn! All in all, a great day out. Hopefully I can bring my NoNo out soon as well. Till next time...Live With Passion!

I'm Back!!!

Ho ho mates...

It's been almost 3 months since I last came in here. No no no, I'm not dead. Alive and energetic as ever. I'm now back in Singapore already. How and what happened in these past 3 eventful months? It's impossible for me to tell them all in one entry. I will slowly fill you in on what happened in the past 3 months of my life from time to time. As for now, let me give you a quick QUICK brief on the events that happened since I last came here. Sit back...

(1) I got accepted into University of Sydney's Vet School.
(2) I withdrew from Murdoch University 2 weeks after starting semester 2.
(3) I worked full-time in the Mc Donald's near my house in Perth.
(4) I quit my job after 2 months.
(5) I sold my car.
(6) I spent quality time with my buddies in Perth, mostly at the mahjong table.
(7) I packed my stuffs and was on my way back to Singapore.
(8) I have yet to find any job.
(9) I spend most days in Singapore sitting at home doing nothing.
(10) I need a life! Badly!

My God, I basically summed up the past 3 months of my life in 10 points. I could have done it in less than 10 points but I lengthen it to make it look better. Not that it does. Anyways, here are a few pictures of my life back in Singapore. Back-entries of my last weeks in Perth will be updated as time goes by. Too many to do in one night. Have fun!

My darling started her job as an SIA flight stewardess. I told her to collect the Starbucks Barista Bear from all over the world for me. This is my second one. First one's from Singapore. Nice?

This is taken in one of the supermarkets in Singapore. I bet you Perth people haven't seen such fresh seafood in quite some time. Hey Cody, can you see the prawns that uncle is pouring out from the pail?

Didn't see it? Hope this is clear enough.

See these pretty frogs? Now guess what do Chinese do with them?

Chinese skin them all so they can be used to cook delicious frog porridge. Crikey!!

Oh and I got myself a Malaysia Starbucks Barista Bear when I went to visit my house in Johore.

This is a blue rose which my darling surprised me with on one of the afternoons. Rose from my girlfriend to me. *haha* =)

There's more coming up. If you're interested to read about my final few weeks in Perth, look out for entries titled "Back Entries". Coming soon.

Jobs In Perth: Part I (The Warehouse)

I've always been going on and on about me working here but I've never really showed pictures of me doing it. So I guess this is one of those random nights when I have nothing new in life to update so I'm better off telling you guys more about the various jobs I've done whilst studying here in Perth.

Let me begin with my first, as a labourer in a warehouse. A Hong Kong guy by the name of Henry owns this import/export business of clothes. They are mainly Asian clothes and his targetted customers are the lower income Asians here living in Perth. So every seasons, which comes to four times a year, he will have a huge stock of clothes coming in from either China or Hong Kong. This is when he will need a lot of manpower to help him sort out his imports. I got introduced to this job by Fung, now my housemate. It's been a few months since I worked for Henry now considering I'm better paid working for Mc Donald's currently. Anyways, here's a few photos of what goes on in a normal day working for Henry. Oh did I mention, Henry is probably in his forties but he dresses like a twenty year old getting ready to go clubbing? I almost puked the first time I met him but what the heck, he's loaded and that's all I'm concerned about.

Here's Fung and I standing inside a huge container-truck loaded with boxes of clothes. If I'm not mistaken there could easily have been about a thousand to two thousand boxes. Each of them weigh between five to ten kilos. It was my first day of work at Henry's warehouse.

Another view from the inside of the container. We're supposed to unload all the two thousand boxes and we had to do it fast as the truck driver was rushing to drive the truck-container away. Not easy. Took the two of us about two and a half hours to do that.

Here are just SOME of the boxes we carried on a regular basis.

Here's what's in the boxes. Never imagine women's clothes can be THAT heavy huh?

Didn't have a good enough look? Here's a closer shot. Just some budget woolen clothings. I wouldn't buy that in a million years.

Our best friend. Mineral water. That is the only fuel we have to keep us going for the 8-hour long shift.

On a lucky day, we get to work INSIDE the warehouse where it's more shady. Sometimes we have to work outside, under the Sun taking stocks and sorting the clothes out according to sizes and colour.

All in all, this job has it's pros and cons. The pay isn't very high, only about AUD$12.00 per hour. People in Singapore might be jumping at me saying, "What?!?!?! That's not high?!?!?!" But this indeed is a low rate in Australia. The good thing about this job is that you can work at your own pace. Henry's not there to watch your every move. He gives you a job to do, you pace yourself and just make sure you finish that job by the end of the day. In Mc Donald's, things are very different. The customers just keep coming and at times, you can go on and on without stopping for two hours. I'll talk more about my job at Maccas in my future entries.

Henry contacted me recently after 2 months asking me to go back to help him at the warehouse. I agreed at first but after my stupid injured knee, I couldn't take up his offer. I passed it to Fung and Bruce to do instead. The two of them went to the warehouse last weekend and pocketed about AUD$84.00 each. They each went home a happy man! I hope I can recover in time to help Henry again. Meanwhile, I'm just praying this knee of mine can heal quick. Till the next entry, see you.

A Peep In My Crib

After hours of cleaning up, I finally got my room to a state of spick and span. Ready for the brand new semester. Ready to face a whole 6 months of challenges. Here's a peep into my nest I call home in Perth.

This is what I see everyday as I take the first step into my room.

My work station where great thoughts are being generated.

My bed with the Starbucks Barista Bear my darling gave me.

Cooler to the left, heater to the right. I'm ready for all weather conditions.

Just a few of my books. Lots more coming.

A glimpse of my closet. Can you spot my Mc Donald's uniform?

This picture shouldn't be part of my room's good image though. But I thought I'd just show you guys what happens during the wet winter season. Our laundry has to be hung indoors and that sucks cos' it limits the space I have in my room, which is already not very huge as you can see.

What A Holiday

This post came a week late really. I am finally sitting here in my room, in Perth. I landed here exactly a week ago from Paradise. I just want to thank my darling for the out of this world holiday that she has given me. And guess what she gave me for our 4.5 year anniversary? A brand new Manchester United home jersy. I can't explain in words how delighted I am. It's something I've been wanting to get for a very very long time now. Just so you guys get to visualise what I'm talking about, here's a couple of shots I took.

That's the jersy from the front.

The Manchester United crest.

Of course, the champions badge by the sleeves since we're the champions last season.

That's the back view with my name on it. And 22 symbolises the 2nd of February. It's the date 4.5 years ago when we got together.

The red devil.

I am missing Singapore already. Anyways, that's lots more to update. Stay tuned.
