Christmas Vacation

This year we celebrated Christmas with palm trees and the calming sounds of the ocean in California.  This was the longest plane ride Liam had experienced and even with the nightmare of Christmas flight cancellations and eight hours sitting in an airport he was still a fantastic traveler.  We arrived in Los Angeles Sunday night, almost twelve hours later than originally planned, but we made it so that is all that matters!
We celebrated Christmas Eve with the traditional party at Susie and Joe's house, where there were about 30-40 people there.  This year the crowd seemed much more melow then previous years, but I assume that is because they are all preoccupied with the newest member of the family.  Liam was showered with gifts and love from everyone!  Along with his longest plane ride and first time in the state of California, this trip also included his first time seeing and touching the ocean!  It was a perfect day at the beach, Liam is sure to have a love of the ocean just like Bryan and I do!
The Morris Clan

After getting back late Thursday night, we recovered Friday and then drove to Salina Saturday to celebrate Christmas with the Berkley's and Westerman's. Unfortunately, Ashley and Alex were sick most of the time so our time with them was limited.
Trying to honk the horn...must see Daddy doing that!
Climbed the Stairs! Good thing we have gates!

Liam: 8 months

Liam is already 8 months old and doing so many new things!  Most of the month he was battling being sick with croup, colds, bronchiolitis caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and on top of that he has cut FOUR new top teeth.  Like the past two teeth he did not fuss, but between being sick and the teeth his sleeping routine has gone awry.  Hopefully we are able to fix the sleeping problem within the next month. Even with being sick and cutting teeth Liam still has remained the most happy smiley little baby!   As of 8 months, he:
  • Weighs about 20.5 pounds
  • Is around 28 inches long
  • Is wearing mostly size 9 month clothing
  • Is crawling
  • Pulls himself up onto furniture
  • Slowly cruises around on the furniture
  • Is handing toys to us
  • Can push objects in front of him and walk behind
  • Loves giving slobbery open mouth kisses
  • Is an eating machine, started eating more 'chunky' food rather than all pureed.  New foods this month were: Cranberries, Zucchini, Squash, Peaches, Cantaloupe, Potatoes, Chicken, Pork, Honeydew, Oranges, Guacamole, Zucchini Bread, Pumpkin Bread, and a variety of stuff off of our plates and at daycare.
  • Had his first Emergency Department visit due to Croup and his second for Bronchiolitis +RSV
  • Went on his first plane ride to Dallas
  • Met Santa!
  • Went on a hayride and was enamoured with the horses

Santa Encounter!

Tonight Liam and I joined Emily and Kinley on their neighborhood hayride.  And, on top of that Santa was there, so Liam had his first Santa encounter!  This also saved me from waiting hours in a line to meet Santa! Liam did great for the first time meeting Santa, he almost cried but held it back.

Pulling Up

This last month has flown by and it seems Liam is doing something new everyday!  He just recently started pulling himself up onto the furniture.  He has skipped learning to sit when crawling and moved directly to pulling up.  This means Bryan and I need to learn to clear off all the surface areas so he can't shove everything off the tables or shove it in his mouth!  Once he pulls himself up, he slowly begins to cruise along the furniture.
Besides pulling up, he also is babbling ALOT.  His most frequent babble is "Dadadada" and sometimes he sounds like he is saying "Yeah".

The Graduate

This weekend we flew to Dallas to celebrate the hard work and dedication Ashley has put towards her education, culminating in her obtaining her Masters from TCU. We are all so proud of her and all that she has accomplished during the last 26 months, which were a long and hard 26 months.  Now her hours of working for free are over and once she takes and passes her boards she will finally start making a pretty sweet paycheck!  Her and Alex have already bought and moved into their new house in Salina, where she will soon be working with an Anesthesia group there.

Fly Baby

This weekend marked the first flight for our little boy.  He did very well and the flight back to KC on Sunday he slept the entire time.  Granted this flight was only about an hour long so the real test will be when we go to LA on the 23rd and that will be an almost 4 hour flight, but we are hoping he does just as well.

Almost back to normal

Croup has plagued our household, causing great mayhem in our lives...Bryan and I have been very fortunate the last seven months, in that Liam was a great sleeper, thus allowing us to get our much needed beauty rest.  But, when the fever hit on Thanksgiving and continued on, eventually turning into croup six days later we no longer were sleeping and Liam was no longer wanting to sleep in his crib.  Bryan has said that we crib trained Liam from the day we brought him home from the hospital (I know, sounds like we are crate training a dog) which was easy because he didn't really fight it. However, with croup he just wanted to sleep with us and even when sleeping with us he would still wake up every hour crying.  Exhausting! But finally, last night he slept all night in his crib again! Although he has felt like crap, he still has been pretty happy during the day, most likely because he has learned to crawl and is now able to explore!
Have you ever seen a baby that is such a camera hound!
Wet Willy!
So excited to be able to touch the hardwoods

Liam: 7 months

The last month has flown by, we can't believe Liam is already 7 months old!  Holiday season is upon us, and so far celebrating Liam's first Thanksgiving was incredible. Having him around makes every day and especially every holiday even more special, even when he is a little under the weather!  He brings such a tremendous amount of joy, love, and laughter into our lives!  As of seven months, he:
  • Weighs around 20 pounds
  • Is around 28 inches long
  • Still wears size 3 diapers
  • Can Army Crawl
  • Loves giving hugs and kisses
  • Started learning the sign 'Up' at daycare
  • Still loves his homemade 'solids'. New foods this month were: Peas, Pears, Pumpkin, Mangos, Carrots and Barley
