is it over yet?....

What a week!! So Janet is back in the hospital. She started doing the throwing up and the diarreah
as soon as she got to Christys on Wed. Christy took her to the Er Thur. She was admitted on Friday morning it was a little more than 24hrs before they got her into a room. Thur and Friday she had a fever of 102.9! They were fully booked as were most of the hospitals in the valley. She was in the ER overflow until Friday morning.

Diagnosis: Her Overactive Thyroid. She is swollen again like a ballon. She has the same doctor she had last time. In fact he recognized her and said "weren't you just here?" So he is making sure they check everything over. She has a cist on her Thyroid maybe tomorrow if the biopsy people are in (they don't work weekends) if not it will be Mon. she has to do radiation treatment for it. She is in EXCELLENT spirits and has been quite funny actually. We've been joking about all the old people in the hospital making crazy demands. (Janet is in her 60's)One lady in the ER was unhappy with her steak dinner and told the whole ER overflow about it. We laughed about that for a LONG time! What was she expecting?! Janets pretty funny when she gets going.
I also bought her Yahtzee and Uno. We sat and played that tonight. She's feeling good. They've got her on Steroids to help the swelling. It was kicking in while we were playing Uno and she was starting to feel a little funny, okay just a little dingy from the medication. She was doing okay though but having a good time considering. And the steriods are working it was amazing to see how much the swelling had gone down. Her neck is huge. They thyroid affects a lot of things in your body, but it's also on of the more easier things to treat. So we are not as concerened about it as we were. She's doing good and is in good hands. If you could keep her in your prayers and the rest of us that would be super.
Carls new boss on starts with the current (retiring boss) this Monday. They had their last staff meeting on Friday where the boss said goodbye to everyone and thank yous all that but Carl missed it, he had to leave earlier to go to the hospital. He was just sick about it but what do you do?! They have his retirment party on Thurs and the last staff party on Friday. It's going to be another tough emotional week!

Sweet Things

For some reason, I've been craving chocolate a lot it! (no I'm not pregnant! don't even think it!) but I can't get enough of it lately. I showed how I made that chocolate cake for Valentines Day and then for Carl's pie throw down,.("Throwdown" is a cooking contest term for those of you who watch Bobby Flay on Food network would recognize. Carl's office called it that it was pretty funny! )We made chocolate cheesecake. From Scratch. It was super easy and yummy although I still would have sweetened my cocoa a little more and wiped my cream cheese by hand. We got honorable mention!
Some of my favorite sites, to get dessert recipes, is Hersheys.com and Bettycrocker.com and foodtv.com of course. Maybe I'll put a link on here and start adding our recipes that we have done and collected from other places. We have a little of both. Not just sweet stuff. Darn food tv!

3. Cinnamon Rolls/Orange Rolls -my mom used to make us Orange rolls for holidays LOVE them, that's my next thing to learn how to make!)
4. Pumpkin Roll -another family tradition, I think I've posted the recipe on here before around Thanksgiving. Now I make it.
5. Strawberry Cheesecake Shakes
6. Carott Cake! -no nuts I can't eat nuts anymore! and it HAS to be cream cheese frosting!
7. New York Cheesecake -maybe a little strawberry sauce
8.Reese Peanut Butter Bites -the little balls like ReesePieces
9.Boston Cream Donuts-only Krispy Kreme!
10. Chocolate Orange sticks - something passed down from my grandpa. They are like raspberry sticks if you know what those are but have orange filling. Raspberry are the most common?!

Happy Love Day

Valentines Day isn't one of my favorite holidays but I have tried to make light of all the mushiness.
Carl is my sweatheart ( I know a little mushiness). He ordered take out from our favorite local Italian resturaunt and set up a nice candle light dinner. It's not very often that either one of us get romantic, but it was nice. He got me a necklace and matching braclet. They are custom made by our good friend dian!
We are both in need of a vacation, hopefully that will come soon. We are planning a trip to Vegas at the end of March to see the "Bodies" show with my family. We'll meet my mom and step dad and some siblings there. We just don't know which hotels we're staying in. Any tips or suggestions, let me know. We've been MANY times and Circus Circus, MGM and Treasure Island are our favorite.
Anyway, I hope everyone had a happy love day however or whomever you spent it with!!

Superbowl Sunday

First and formost while I am overjoyed about Packers news, I can not over look the most important day of the year! SuperBowl Sunday! The best commerical we thought, were the Rock, Paper scissors commercial, and the Doritos commercial but just the first one and of course the crab bud light commercial. The only thing cool about the godaddy.com one is that it had the Tuttle boys (American Choppers) in it for 5 secs!
I even enjoyed the halftime with Prince. He sang a few oldies favorites. I LOVE Purple Rain and Let's Go Crazy! He sounded good. Beats Kevin what's his bucket and Janet anyday! Although we got more entertainment out of watching Carmen go crazy over Prince! She's a riot!
We had the party up at Noels. (Carls boss that is retiring) it was a BLAST! Poor Keith he was rooting for the Bears! It was a good game at least the first half! I couldn't believe the fumbles! Holy cow! Manning was a little rough in the first half and so was the offensive line. Chicago just has a crappy quarter back (okay crappy is being to nice!) But we also wanted the Colts for Rob Morris former BYU cougar. Even though his best friend John Tait, also former cougar plays for Chicago.
I'll post pictures here in a bit, but I was so mad I forgot my memory card and now I can't find the USB cord to hook the camera. The food was good, everyone stayed till it was over. We played pool. I don't think anyone wanted to leave. It was kinda sad. It's their last bang with everyone in the office. Even one of the gals whos been on leave for a serious surgery was there and some others that don't normally come. We had such a good time. They do the football pool every year. Karen and Noel won. They had football, and everyone signed it it was very cool!
I don't even work in their office and I wanted to cry when we were leaving. Even all the spouses get along. They are like one big happy family. I am so thrilled with the friendships and the people that Carl works with who have become very good friends. They have become like family. That is a rare thing.
I am a little sad that now the football season is officially over!

The Return of Brett Favre!!!
I don't know if you were watching the NFL this morning. Steve Mariucci was on the phone with Favre to announce Favre's return!!!Apparently he made the announcement on Friday. He called the Packers GM and said "I'd like to give it another shot!! This made my day maybe even my week. You can click on my Packers link for the announcement! As Steve said, he's excited about the team. They are young. Favre was worried at the beginning of last season but as the year progressed he was still having a fun on the field and still loves to play! That's one of the things I love about watching him play! He LOVES this game and it shows. He still has it in his system to play and teach the youngesters. He's 38 yrs old but not ready to be done! And I for one am thrilled!
