Autumn in Korea 2015

I consider Korea as my second home now. Making it a point to head there every year!

People ask, what do I love about Korea for a holiday?
Food, Fashion, Culture, Weather, Picture Spots

Food
Yes, the food does not look good on pictures, but I really really love how flavourful it is. You may find Gochujang paste in most of the food there (spicy miso).  Most meals come in a huge portion (or min. of two portion, so it is great for sharing! Prices are reasonable too, the meals are on an average of KRW30,000 (~SGD35) for two in average restaurant.

1)  Jjimdak

I had tried two of the more popular restaurants that serves Jjimdak before. However I still prefer the first one more.

The first restaurant that serves Jjiamdak is YEOLBONG JJIMDAK.
They have many outlets in Seoul all around the area where tourist will head to. I headed to the outlet around Ewha University area.
This is the logo of the restaurant, I remember it as the "chicken hug chilli logo"

Not of fan of super spicy food (although I take tomyum, curry, but not the kind of person who will add extra chilli) , I would take the less spicy option (Level 1). I had tried Level 2 but it was too spicy for my liking.

If you dislike to de-bone chicken, you may opt for the boneless chicken. The dish serves with cellophane noodles at the bottom of the dish and you could opt for it to be thick or thin. Personally, I love the thicker version it makes the noodles much more chewy and bouncy.

The restaurant serves this rice bowl as well. If I remember correctly, it was KRW3,000. I really love this so much! It looks simple but it is really fragrant. You just mix em' all together and eat it as a side along with your Jjimdak.

Address: 서대문구 대현동 27-4 2층 [27-4 Daehyeon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul]
P.S. Do note it is on the 2nd level.
*Do google before heading there as this was based on my last visit in November 2015.

The second place that I had tried Jjiamdak was: BONGCHU JJIMDAK.
They have an outlet in Singapore Raffles City basement as well but I had yet to try it.

We went to the outlet in Myeongdong.

When I was there, I tried the one which had mixture of seafood in it. I am not so much a fan of this restaurant as I felt there were "too many" spices in the dish. Perhaps I prefer a dish that is less "messy" as there were huge chunks of chilli and leek all around. To be fair, we ordered a seafood and chicken and a normal chicken one. Seafood lovers will love this, however I feel it maybe a little too spicy and overly flavourful for me.

Address: 33-9, Myeong-dong 2-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul-si

Personal preference: Would still prefer Yeolbong Jjimdak over this.

2 0 1 6

Soooo many things to do but so little time! So for 2016, I'll keep it simple.
1. To finally get my driving license after such a long delay ever since I passed by BTT.

2. Take up Korean language lessons.

Yes just two things and one after another. Seems much easier to achieve.

Sadly, the first week of 2016 was simply drowned with work. Felt so damn stressed with all the deadlines and late nights at office. It is making me seriously so sad about life cos I spend more time at work than anything else.

To dos and urgent just gets longer and longer and even longer. Never seem to be able to clear them makes me ultra depressing. But I guess it's like that I just have to accept it. Everyday is like fire fighting whatever that is burning.

Oh wells. At least I am going Bkk tomorrow. I AM SO GLAD REALLY. I really needed this break away from all these shitsssss.

OK DONE RANTING. Bye

Flashlights

Really love this song "flashlight" by Jessie  j.

If you had watched pitch perfect 2 you would had heard of this song. Sounds so positive!

Anyway, I just did a life changing desicion on Saturday. I tendered my resignation. Had so much mixed feelings. What I really know is I am gonna miss all the people there :( after all it's been 2 years and the branch had been my 2nd home. I mean like I spend more than half of my day at work and with the people. 还真舍不得。

oh wells, this is life ain't it? Yet I am excited to start on my new job as a fresh graduate. Before I embark on a new journey, I still have one more month with my dearest colleagues. So let's just make everyday a fufilling one! :)

Expectations?

Expectations get you disappointed when things happen the way you don't expect.

Always felt that hmmm, nothing is actually perfect. I actually felt everything was perfect a few days ago when I had like two good news. I got my hopes high. Next day when another not so good news came, I was really upset and still am. I know I am really affected by this when I woke up dreaming about it. So upset I felt like crying. It felt like something I had just lost even though I never really had it.

Why did I have to feel this way? Because I expected and it did not happened.

Was just telling my friend last night not to have high expectations cos when things don't go the way you think, you get real disappointed. But if you don't expect, you might actually feel happier when things happen positively.

However, unknowingly I just did the above. I expected. And now I got real disappointed. :(

Just let me be sad a few more days. I guess things will work itself out. But for now my heart really aches.

Love,
Me.

Happy Mid Week!

On my way home after a yummy dinner with the boy at Wild Oats! A cosy cafe situated at Punggol Park. A good hangout if you just wanna chill with some drinks and sides with friends!

New semester is gonna begin again! How I dread the upcoming semester since it will be banking and finance and management accounting. ): looking at the study guide already made me go sigh! I guess I will have to jia you till graduation in half a year!!!

Been working till pretty late these days. Used to knock off at 6 but now it is always 7-9pm! So unpredictable. Makes me so tired when I get home I just wanna sleep and not do anything, so when I still have to study, the feeling just sucks ):

After coming back from korea I just wanna travel again! So the boy and I decided to book a short BKK trip w Donis and DH in Jan right before CNY! Always looking forward to travel overseas cos it's just relaxing. Totally. Away from work, school all I need to do is just do whatever I like!

How I wish everyday is like that but sadly no! I guess it comes to a point where we wish we were students all over again.

T I R E D

Just left work half an your ago at 9pm. Indeed, MONDAY BLUES. Didn't get to meet my boy cuz it's rather late and I just really wanna sleep. Work is getting really tiring! I guess it's a phase that we will all have to get through.

Thank goodness assignments & exams are over. But that spells another semester of cycle coming up! It's crazy yes. Just looking forward to graduation in May!

On a happier note, the boy and I finally got our lodging in KR settled last night! Had bruncher (yes, yes cos we were sleeping our day away) at Sukiya! We has like cravings for sukiyaki after watching some food video.

Was quite upset though we came 5 mins late and they charged us for dinner price and I thought I was eating lunch and did not eat the ice cream that was only for dinner:( oh wells.

Back to our logging in KR, we booked an apartment at airbnb! Since we are going there for 10 days that would mean 9 nights, it could cost a bomb staying in a hotel. A decent hotel cost S$250 a night, that would mean 2k++ just on hotel? So yep, we decided to get a pretty decent apartment at only S$150! I guess I'm pretty excited liasing with the owner now. Heh and the apartment on pictures just looks beautiful!

I guess the plus point is that we have a kitchen of our own. Since the boy loves cooking so much... I guess it will be great for us!

Just less than 2 months to KR and 4 more days to Batam trip! IM SO EXCITED as it just melts all the }^*+{^!$ away at work, school.

till then!
Diana.

Minty baby

So baby just sent me a picture that was taken with his new lens on Monday!

Bought a new camera at the recent IT fair and I must say it is really cheap and good and handy! I really love the size of the new camera. The XZ 2 that I bought was a little too bulky for the bag I always carry so I'm selling it off.

Looking a little plain I thought of washi-ng my camera!

Adding a tinge of mint green to it. I must say I really love it! The S200 is my must have in the bag now!

LAST DAY OF MAY/2014

Hectic month! Not too much on school work but on work itself. I was conversing with my colleague the other day and when she mentioned that her kids were having school holidays, it stroked me.

School holidays?

I have not felt it for the longest time ever since i graduated from Polytechnic a year ago.

Studying my degree and full time is really not as simple as it seems to be. Though i had already hung on for a year and another year more to graduation it still seems so long. When you were younger, probably 3 years ago i wished i could grow up as soon as possible, to have that freedom, that decision, that independence and of course that stable salary of not needing to work part time jobs to have that a few hundred more bucks.

But now, i do wish to go back, otherwise move even forward. This period of my life seems to be the most enjoyable with a stable income etc however studying and working is just sick. Sometimes i wish i didn't signed up to pursue my degree, but i know if i don't i might just regret it. Working 8.30 to 6 from Monday to Friday is actually pretty meh, with unexpected surprises at work.

Given the addition of doing assignment on weekends makes me feel really sad, like today. Very quickly, as i flipped the date chopped at work today it is 31st May. Very soon we will be welcoming the June! Which also marks 6 months down the road of 2014. Scares me really cos' it seems so yesterday that 2013 just passed.
Cheers to a greater half of 2014!
No school holidays to look forward to, all i can look forward is the 10 days trip to KOREA with my dearest boyfriend.

I guess i am extremely lucky and blessed to have such a supportive boyfriend! Thank you baby for having your patience with me when i get so !@#!@$#@%$#% with assignments or work. So glad we are in the same organisation and i can always bitch with you. Hehe. I would really try to keep my phone by my side at work and not to be overly obsessed during OT and not pick up your calls my dear! Can't wait for our graduation, ONE MORE YEAR OF ENDLESS ASSIGNMENT AND EXAMS AND WE CAN WEAR MORTAR BOARD AND SHOUT GRADUATED! For now,  忍!

 XOXO, DIANA
