Memorial Day

No BBQ for us. No we did however make a trip to the zoo. It was funny because I realized it was exactly a year ago on Memorial day weekend that we made the trip to the town of Battle Ground to see it for the first time. I can't believe that it has been a year already. Kalaree is getting excited about her birthday coming up. We all remember how import the big 1-4 is. Just her luck, there is an EFY in June that she will get to go to with a dance of course. Of course the older she gets the more expensive her birthday gift requirements are. The trip tot he zoo was nice. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. We were able to get right in and every exhibit we got right up to. The girls just love the animals. I am not sure where they get that from. Maybe me!!!Kami kept asking if this animal or that animal was nice since they were at the zoo. I had to keep telling her that they were still wild animals and that just because they were at the zoo didn't mean that they were som

Punching bag

That is what I have become at work. Literally!!!! I have two separate students that seem to plan when they are going to blow. The tend to rotate days so I haven't yet had them both on the same day but so far this week I have been kicked, spit at, hit, pinched, carried a student out of a classroom, called the police (resource officer) to help remove a student and been called an "old grandma." I have watched a student throw desks, paper, chairs and weighted bags. The crazy thing about it is that both students want the same thing. They want to go home and so they both act like this so they get sent home. The biggest problem is that we have to inform the parents and they will come and get the student even when we ask them not too. ARGH!!!!! It just causes them to do it again to get to go home. Good thing summer is almost here. The bruises will at least make me look somewhat tanned until the sun comes.

Sandbox wedding

Kambrya Ryleigh Smith informed her parents tonight that during recess on Friday she married. I would post the name of my son in law but I think I want to check with his mother at church tomorrow first. Apparently, Kami's best friend was her maid of honor and witness while the groom opted for a rather non traditional best man of whomever was available. She said they even made sure to sign a marriage certificate. A girl in their kindergarten class officiated the wedding and the groom choose the kiss on the check instead of the traditional wedding kiss to hopefully not embarrass his young bride. The couple honeymooned on the swings after a reception without cake was held at the teetherball pole. I just hope that Kami's dear cousin Braidey isn't to devastated since I know recent conversations with him were that they would marry when they were older. I guess if you sleep, you lose. Now I wonder if any of those kindergartners are smart enough to start a law busy for all the sandb

Black and Blue

Kezri must be my tom boy. I swear that girl has more bruises on her than any other child. She came home the other day with a half dollar size bruise on her knee. She got it from falling off of the monkey bars. Today I get a call from the school and some kids pulled her chair out from under her as she was trying to sit down and she must of hit her elbow pretty hard. The health aide called to let me know about it and that the principal was going to talk with the student about it. The health aide was funny though as she kept saying," she wasn't crying or anything." It really is not like Kezri to cry. That girl just doesn't seem to have the crying genes in her. Oh don' get me wrong tears do come but they are far and few. She really does put on a tough kids kind of exterior. Kalaree is officially registered for High School. Yes, grandparents, you are old. Your granddaughter is now in high school. Shoot she even got to back the car out of the drive way the other day and

Coffeehouse Traditions

Since Kezri had her appointment on Friday in Portland, we decided to make it a mom and daughter day. We headed out just after 9 and got to Portland around 10. Around 10:30 the doctor office told us that her appointment had been moved to noon, so Kezri and I decided to get an early lunch. We found this cute little Coffee House/Deli a few blocks from the doctors office and we each order a sandwich and milksake. We quickly ae our lunch and then sat snuggled up on the leather couches and people watched. We didn't just people watch, we made up stories about the people we were watching. There was this Elderly gentleman there and he kept following this elderly lady around. They did not come in together but they eventually did end up sitting together and talking. It was really cute. We had stories that ranged from looking for lost love to mother of young kids trying to get some quiet time. It was great to sit and converse and see the imagination that Kezri has. I love the differ

I am very impressed with every ones phonics skills. Everyone that guessed guessed right, but how long did it take each of you? We also had Kezri's Neurologist appointment on Friday and she was given the diagnosis of Tourettes. Which sounds a lot worse than what it is. She hasn't had an audible tick since kindergarten, but since there is a history of one it counts. We are opting not to do meds at this time since she isn't really being impacted other than the ticks (which she says don't bother her) and occasional headaches, but those are limited to the evening right now and controlled with Tylenol. Her and I will also be starting a yoga program every night as relaxation is suppose to help decrease both the migraines and the ticks. I guess this is a win win situation right. I get to count it as a workout and Kezri gets to relax. Just means now I have to find a different time to do my treadmill. I am so not a morning person and I don't see when else I could fit it in un

Kami's Tishyous

I love when kids first start to learn to write. You can always tell the ones that have their phonics down. I came home yesterday to see tishyous written on something within our house. I want to see how many can guess right what it was before I tell everyone. Kami wrote it if that helps anyone. So guess?
