The DHS Child Development Center was started in 1988. We provide child care for employees of the Davis County School District and we provide an on-the-job training for high school students who are interested in working with children.

On Thursday we read "Going to the Hospital".
Bailey showed the children different items that they might see at a hospital and explained what they are used for. She even brought real x-rays for the children to see.
Lexie had the children use white paint on black paper to create their own x-rays.
Michelle brought a stethescope and helped the children listen to their own heart beats.
We also made lava lamps as a science experiment.
On Friday we read, "My Dentist, My Friend."
Kelbie taught the children a poem about teeth while they colored and cut-out a picture of a tooth.
Sara A. brought each of the children a toothbrush and toothpaste and she talked to them about the importance of brushing their teeth every day. She also brought some wind-up chatter teeth for the children to see.
Sara S. played a math game using tooth cut-outs.
Kristine brought a Playdo dentist set for the children to play with.
Emily had the children do a cake-walk with pictures representing different things found in a dentist office.
Jessica had the children make paper plate mouths with marshmallows as teeth.

We used vegetables to paint.
We sorted animals into piles of those who eat plants and those who eat meat.
We sang and danced to a song called, "I'm a Hungry Hungry Herbavore".
We colored pictures.
Mitchell built an awesome tower.
Trey made a valentine for his mom.
The kids played "American Idol".
Mitchell trapped Gavin in the hiding box.
Today the kids learned about carnivores. Kathy read "Piggy Pie".
I was at the grocery store when they did their activities, so your guess is as good as mine.

Today we read "A Fish Out of Water" and "Sharks!" It was a good day to talk about fish because for some reason they were obsessed with the aquarium today.
We looked at our fish and talked about how they use gills to breathe and fins to move.
We colored pictures of fish and other sea creatures.
We looked at sea shells.
We sorted and counted plastic fish and other sea creatures.
We played musical chairs in the forum.
We also got to touch a real, dead porcupine fish, and a big piece of coral.
We had fun playing on the playground, and we had a visit from Jen's dog but I didn't get any pictures of that.
