Super Sydney Sights!
We rocked up to Sydney on Wednesday night (and I totally forgot about the fourth of July, ooops!) and we have been non-stop! Our legs are aching becuase we've been walking so much but it's been worth it. We're so happy we had a chance to spend some time here before we head to LA. It's an amazing place and we're having so much fun!
This is the Sydney Harbor Bridge behind us. It's so beautiful and you can actually climb it as a tour in the morning and at sunset. It's a little expensive so we'll have to save that for another time.
We met up with Kate, our friend from Tokyo Disney, and took a boat tour around the harbor. It was really windy that day and freezing but it was really fun.
The Harbor Bridge and the Opera House
This is the USS Kittty Hawk. It had just arrived the day before so it was cool we got to see it. The Navy is here playing war games with the Australian army.
This is a dungeon they used to chain prisoners to. It's now a cafe and you can rent it for parties but when the English ran out of room at the prisons they would just chain the prisoners to this. The prisoners usually drown.
The Rocks is the first settled town in Sydney. It's really old and on Saturday there was a really fun market with lots of "junk" to buy. We walked through the market and then stopped and had lunch at one of the many sidewalk cafes in the area.
We walked around the Opera House. It sits right in the harbor so you can see water all around you. It's so pretty!
There's a botanical garden across from the harbor bridge with great views. It's a nice place to just sit and relax and behind me is the plant museum where they show all of the native plants of Australia. We didn't go in but I thought it was a pretty building.
Kind Edward the VI
We went and took a ballet class at the Sydney Dance Company. The studios are really pretty and they sit right on the Harbor. Apparantly Nicole Kidman lives in the next pier but we didn't see her or Keith Urban. Class was good but our calves were killing after!
Resting at Darling Harbor after class
We spent the day at Darling Harbor and just walked around, saw some street performances and ate ice cream.
We also went the Maritime Museum where we saw this, the fastest boat in the whole world!
We also saw Captain Cook's boat which they still take out to sea on tours of the harbor
This is the city side of Darling Harbor. As you can see the city is beautiful and the weather has been perfect! The first day was a little cold and it gets pretty chilly at night but the days have been lovely. The Australian's call it winter. I don't think I would be able to handle the summer here. It must get pretty hot.

Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi Oi Oi!
The weather here has been pretty cold and rainy but we were lucky enough to have this gorgeous day at the beach! It was sunny and even a little warm. The beaches here are so beautiful.

The water is so clear and beautiful. If only it wasn't freezing. But people still surf in it year around.....crazy!

This is the pier where we ate fish and chips.

There was a little play area with these trampolines so we jumped around for a bit. It was fun!

This is the Freemantle Dock where they do all the export/import stuff. It's really pretty at night. We came here and took a tour of the Freemantle prison which is just up the street from here.

There's a huge museum over there of old boats and stuff and a submarine you can tour. We didn't do any of that but Freemantle is the one of the oldest cities in WA and has a lot of history because of the prison and the docks. The football team we saw here are called the Freemantle Dockers after these famous docks

These are some of the darling kids we've been teaching here. We had so much fun and even got a little attached to some of them since we taught for about three weeks. It was sad to say goodbye! We're going to miss our little Perth dance studio.
So, now we're off to Sydney. We leave on Wednesday night and I can't wait! I'll blog all about it next week for sure!
