Christmas at the De Voogts
We just had our first Christmas as a married couple. We had so much fun! Thanks to mom we had a darling little Christmas tree and LOTS of presents to open! Our room smelled like Christmas so everyone always wanted to hang out in there with us and we had tons of candy to share. We were able to watch Joy to the World on Christmas day too! (You're the best mom!) Although it still totally sucked not being home for Christmas we will never forget our first Christmas together in our tiny room on the Veendam.

Ship Tour
A few weeks ago we finally went on a proper tour of our ship. We got to go to the bridge and learn about how everything works but mostly we just pretended like we were the officers in charge of everything.

This is one of the officers in charge of driving the ship

Doug is doing some navigation

The officers pretty much let us do whatever we wanted up here as long as we didn't really touch anything.

Someone gave this stuffed moose to the captain so they stuck up on the bridge. He's on watch 24/7

Looking out from the bridge

The view from the bridge

We also took a tour of the kitchen and met the executive chef

After the tour we had lunch with the captain and he even sat at our table with the chief officer. We felt really cool.

Thanksgiving in Guatemala
We spent Thanksgiving this year playing soccer (well Doug played and I watched) in Guatemala. Although we would have preferred to have been in Utah it was something we will always remember.
We are so thankful for each other and for all of our many blessings. Spending Thanksgiving in a country where people really don't have much makes us realize how lucky we are. We miss our friends and family every day but we're grateful for the experiences we are having right now.

Sea Days
We thought it would be fun to show you guys what we do when we're at sea. We used to hate sea days but now we look forward to them because it's kind of like having a day off. Sometimes we participate in activities they have around the ship.

Here the boys are helping with golf chipping. They hold up the life preservers and people try to hit their gold ball into the center. It's really just an excuse for them to get in the pool on sea days.

Since being in the Caribbean this is something we almost always do on sea days...lay out! We have to do it on the top deck where there's no pool because the pools get really crowded. There's always a nice breeze up there and sometimes the wind is so strong we get a little mist from the ocean.
This is all it well let me upload for now. I will try to upload more pictures later.

Fun in the Sun
We just finished our first Caribbean cruise and it was great! The passengers are getting younger and we even had a few kids on board! The ports we went to were really fun. My favorite so far is Cozumel but I don't think I have any pictures from that day. It was gorgeous so we just laid out on the beach all day! We are doing the same itinerary this week so we'll be back soon and I'll be sure to take lots of pictures. Stephen came on board today so we're really excited about that. The time is going by really fast now which is good and we're happy to be in the sun. The Ports we went to on this cruise were; Key West, Belize, Guatemala, and Cozumel. We're back in Tampa today, where the cruise starts, hanging out in a Coffee shop because the internet is free and much faster than what we get on the ship. We have a few more hours before our rehearsal to block Stephen into our first show starts so we're going to sit here and download as many TV shows off iTunes that we can in the time we have left.
Today is our six month anniversary so we're really excited about that. Time flies when you're living the dream working on cruise ships! We feel so blessed that we're able to work together and see all these fun places. We've made some wonderful friends and we're having a great time.

New York
We did so much in New York that we were exhausted by the time we were through. As you can see the weather was gorgeous and although we only had a few hours we had a great time and I think Doug got a good feel for the city. He's still convinced that Utah is the best state in the USA.....duh! But I think we will end up in New York for a few years.
