Barrister's Ball

My good friend Karen watched Reese (and did my hair!) so we could sneak away for the Barrister's Ball. It was at The Westin in downtown Columbus. It was fun to get all primped for a fancy date. The shoes were cute but horribly uncomfortable. I thought my feet were going to fall off by the end of the night.
In the lobby of The Westin
Devon's awkward prom pose idea... he wore his awkward smile for the shot too.

Reese is two months old!

Stats:
11lbs 8oz (66%)
23 1/4 inches (80%)
Head circumference 15 inches (28%)

Here is our Reeser girl hanging out in her bouncer on her two-month birthday. We celebrated her two-month birthday AND Valentine's Day attending the Barrister's Ball. Pictures to come.
She is a happy girl
She loves getting her diaper changed (which is nice since we do it a lot). Diaper rash has been one of our biggest struggles. I think the poor girl got my ultra-sensitive skin. The tip of her nose gets a pink rudolph spot when she nurses. We use paper towels and mild soap for diaper changes, as well as corn starch and/or pure zinc oxide to combat the rashes.
Reese likes to play with her hair or the side of my shirt while she eats.
She likes her Mr. Frog toy and her musical seahorse toy.
She loves her swing. She loves her car seat. She usually and falls asleep on car rides.
She is intrigued by the blow dryer and gets super quiet and attentive.
Sometimes when she coos it sounds like she is saying "Hi." She got her first cold. She crosses her ankles a lot and it is so cute. I have an ultrasound picture with her crossing her ankles too. She loves when we give her raspberries on her neck and her belly.
Devon and I fight over holding her. He thinks he can hog her in the evenings when he gets home from school and the entire weekend!
Here is Reese on Valentine's Day (below), the day she had to get her two-month shots. :( She was a tough girl. She let out one big scream and then a couple small ones. I picked her up and held her close. She calmed down, gave me a small smile and then went to sleep for three hours. She would whimper in her sleep and wake up and cry anytime she moved her legs. It was so sad. By the time we put her to bed, she was kicking her legs like normal and full of smiles. (Side note: I couldn't believe how long the needle was! And they stuck it all the way in. :( I can't say I didn't shed a tear.)
Here she is with her first real valentine from her California Grandma! And thank you North Carolina Grandma for the Valentine's package!

Four-year Anniversary

Since Sharla drove back to Ohio with us to help out for a couple weeks, we were able to get away for a few hours to celebrate our anniversary. I was in charge this year (we alternate), so we went and got pedicures and ate at California Pizza Kitchen. I made sure not to tell Devon what was in store so he couldn't back out of the pedi treatment. Let's just say all I heard during the pedicure was, "wow, this is nice... ohh, this is nice..." His feet were definitely in need of a little TLC!
I think I only texted Sharla about 10 times in the three hours we were gone... maybe I'm that annoying mom.

Reese's Blessing

The Glassmans and Dicksons flew out from California for Reese's blessing in North Carolina. Reese got to meet her only two first cousins! We stayed down at the lake house and had fun just relaxing and hanging out.

Grandpa Mark meeting and holding Reese for the first time!
I think Reese has a lot of Devon and Shira's features. No complaints there! :)
Shira bought Reese and Brekyn matching outfits--ADORABLE! I love Breky's huge smiles! She is such a happy girl.
Colton liked the hammock...
and feeding the birds and playing in the castle on the patio. He caught a lizard and the lizard bit his hand. It was hilarious and we got it all on video!
Reese's blessing was on January 1, 2012 in Falls Lake Ward. Devon did such a great job and Reese didn't cry. Phew! She did, however, get the hiccups. :)
Here are a few shots of Reese in her cute blessing dress.
Reese got to meet some of her second cousins.

Christmas and New Years in NC

We drove down to North Carolina when Reese was six days old. We were there for almost three weeks. It was fun to spend so much time with the Drapers and have the Glassmans and Dicksons come out for Reese's blessing (pictures of that to come)...

Riley was so excited to hold Reese. He loves being an Uncle. All his friends in the neighborhood and at school have been calling him "Uncle Riley." He said he is excited to "teach Reese how to do homework and do the dishes." I was thinking, "What? Where did that come from?" I guess the first things to come to his mind were chores he does that little babies can't do...
Getting ready for another bird bath. She hated baths until her cord fell off and she could soak in the warm water
Grandpa and Reese

Great-Grandpa Brock meeting and holding his first Great-Grandchild!
Of course he had to call Great-Grandma, who was in Virginia, to brag that he got to hold Reese first! We got a good laugh out of Grandpa when we teased that his Parkinson's tremor in his left hand was perfect for bouncing Reese to sleep.
Four generations
She loves her pink zebra blankey.
All of our stockings... including Reese's!
We were so excited for James and Kylie to fly in. Here they are holding Reese for the first time.
They are naturals...
She got her olive tone from her Dad's side of the family... lucky girl!
Daddy-daughter nap time!
Grandma and Grandpa with Reese. I think they like her. :)
Christmas Eve
Getting ready to fondu! You can see all our sauces lined up, and the Diet Coke right over Reese's face.
Uncle Riley with his niece
All my LADIES!
Hayley got Reese this adorable santa dress with cute striped pants and a santa hat. We opted for the bow so you could tell she is a girl.

Funniest story on Christmas Day:
Mom and Dad were given a painting of Jesus with a small child
Riley (looking at the picture curiously): Is that Fabio?
We were all hysterical.
Christmas dinner. Mom did a great job!
Mom and baby
Such a precious face!
Auntie Kylie with her second niece!

She actually liked this one! First real bath!
Just lookin' around checking out her Dad and maybe trying to figure out what the heck is going on...
Bye North Carolina and our wonderful family. We love you and miss you all!
