First Swim

On May 12 we took our first swim of the year.
Ty was very cautious.
When I put him in he started to cry...but slowly warmed up to it.
He has gotten better each time he swims.
Now he swims off the step with his floaties and says, "Mom! Self!"
He's telling me he's doing it by himself.
Hopefully by the end of the year we have a little fish with those floaties.

Tuesday Tidbits

01. He always shares his treats with his "tows"(cows) and "orsies"(horses).
02. When I ask him, "where's your cowboy hat?" He says, "Woody?" and runs to find Woody and his cowboy hat. He gets really excited when he can get the hat on Woody.
03. We went up for Shaun's farewell this weekend and I thought this might be the first time Ty would sleep good up there because he's been so good at home...I was wrong. This boy just doesn't like to sleep away from home. He was great every other time of day though.
04. He's a ham...laughs ALL the time and I love it. His laugh is infectious.
05. Today when he woke up from his nap I asked if he had good dreams and he said yes, then I asked what he dreamed about. He paused for a second, then got a smirk and said, "gamo(grandma) and gapa(grandpa)....Abbie...Cam...Sadie." ha He loves them SO much.
06. He has learned how to flex his muscles. He puts his arms up and squeezes so hard that he shakes.
07. If I ask him what his favorite colors are he says, "owange(orange), yewow(yellow)!"
08. He points out colors EVERYWHERE we go. When we shop he points and literally yells the color.

He seriously just amazes me every day. He is learning so many things and just SO dang funny! As he's learning to talk he is starting to be so much better too because he can tell me what he wants. I never knew being a Mom would be so much fun.

Tuesday Tidbits

This week has been crazy and I haven't taken any pictures!
I still wanted to write things about Ty for my journaling purposes though.

01. He LOVES his preschool prep videos! He says, "Mom/Dad Shapes!" or "Colors" ha.
02. He knows all of his letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. He just can't say some of his shapes although that his is favorite video lately.
03. He loves pancakes. He brings the syrup to me and says, "Peese!" He would eat them every meal if I'd let him. It's a yummy no egg/milk recipe here.
04. He has been a little better at being a good boy and not throwing tantrums the last couple of days.
05. We swam for the first time over the weekend...He was scared at first and cried, but started to warm up and loved it the second day. I'm fine with him being a little cautious.
06. He knows all of the actions to "Popcorn popping on the apricot trees" and thinks it's so much fun.
07. At night I say, "I need one last kiss." He leans in and gives me a kiss and then he's says, "Bye. Night!" as he waves to me, with a smile, from his crib. I love it.

He's just growing up so fast.
Today Devan said, "I wanted him to get to this point so fast, and now I want him to go back a little bit. It's just happened so fast."
He's SO much fun! I LOVE his little voice.

Mini Cowboy

The day the bailed all of the hay Ty wanted to go down too.
The day before I had taken him to the cowboy store to get a real cowboy hat.
He was so excited to get it.
He puts his hat on and says, "eeee haw!" and runs to get on his horse(I'll have to take pictures)
This boy has loved the farm from day 1.

Mini Me? Isn't that the cutest mini cowboy you've ever seen?
He HAS to kick the extra hay into the manger for the cows. He doesn't like if there's any left out.
Throwing Rocks with Daddy
Devan was hitting the fence with the rock and Ty couldn't quite make it, so he walked over to the fence to throw the rock and hit it. He was so happy after. This boy wants to be just like his daddy all of the time!
heading back home

Ranch Managers

Before my Dad left on his mission he did a few quick rundowns of everything on the farm.
The boys had a chance to do the hay, feed the cows, go over the equipment, etc..
My dad was always there to oversee and tell them what to do.
Well...my dad left and they were turned into the ranch managers over night.
The first couple of months were pretty easy.
Most of the cows were out on the Arizona Strip, with just a few here to go feed each day.
The beginning of March they got to go out and get the cows and their baby calves and bring them back.
They got to vaccinate, tag, tattoo, brand, sort, document...
Of course they've had help. Grandpa, Tom, Bill, Garrett and some friends, Zach, and Shan are all a big help.

-Tattooing the calves-
Dave was tattooing the ears
Devan was giving the shots

After they got all of this done it was time to for the artificial insemination.
Luckily they had a professional come help with this part.
There's a lot that goes into the exact time of the A.I.
It's just like in a girl ovulating and having A.I. at the right time.
After they get the cows all done they let the bull loose. ha It's party time for him!
A couple weeks after this was all done it was time to cut the hay for the first time without my Dad.
Next thing we know, we look out the back window and our good friend Jim Ence is cutting the hay.
He is part owner on the swather and loves it. It was SO nice of him.

Of course it rained(it's not good when it rains on the cut hay), so they had to wait for the hay to dry out.
Then it was time to bail. It was a pretty cold morning.
Devan started bailing the first field while Dave and Grandpa pitch forked the hay on the other field.
I got a few pictures of them doing this.

After they got it all bailed and got one field hauled to the corrals the hauler broke.
With a phone call and some help from cousins and uncles, they hauled the other field by hand.
I'm grateful for what this ranching is doing to my little city boy. :)
I think we're all realizing how much work being a rancher is.
They have a pretty good system though.
Devan feeds the cows in the morning and Dave feeds in the afternoon.
If they can't make it the other one fills in.
I'm so glad they have each other.
I'm also glad that my Dad is just a phone call away.

Tuesday Tidbits

01. He loves to go in the pantry and bring out the cereal or the fruit snack box. He comes to me and says, "peese!" with the sweetest smile and there's no way I can turn him down. I had to stop buying this cereal because he only eats the marshmallows. ha smart boy.
02. I think terrible twos have started. He has become a tantrum thrower. Needless to say, Mother's Day was probably his worst day to date.
03. He hates when daddy leaves the room and could care less when Mommy leaves.
04. He's either the happiest and best boy or possessed and screaming bloody murder...there's no inbetween, and it can change at any second.
05. One of his canines finally popped through, the other 3 still bother him off and on.
06. He is just becoming such a talker. He can repeat anything we tell him, but he has a hard time with multiple words together.
07. He's the worst in church. I can't even remember the last time he made it longer than 15 minutes in Sacrament Meeting. He LOVES nursery though. This week I came out of Sacrament and said, "want to go to nursery?" He grinned and said, "Yeah! Les go!" ha it surprised me.
08. Although he is Daddy's boy, he still loves Mommy to put him to bed. We rock, brush his teeth, and then say prayers. He laughs SO hard during prayers. I don't know what I'm going to do with him. He gives me big kisses and I leave the room. He usually continues to play and squeal for at least 15 more minutes. I love it.

Friends

Tessa Robinson. Aubree Wiest. Ty. Kendyl Blake. Cohen Kitchen

We had such a fun dinner with my friends from high school the other night.
Matt and Megan invited all of us to their house.
We all got to catch up for a little bit while the kids played.
We had a pot luck and thought we'd play games, but we ended up being entertained by the kids.
It was so much fun. We'll definitely have to do this more often!

Tea Party

{April }
Heidi and Whitney came to babysit Ty while Dev and I went to work.
Ty loves whitney. He calls her, "itee".
Heidi caught these pictures of them having a tea party and gave them some treats too.
Thanks so much Heid!

Easter

Easter morning started off great.
Ty woke up pretty happy, ate his "mush", and found what the Easter Bunny brought!
He was so excited about the football and baseball eggs in his basket.
He couldn't figure out how to get them open, so he threw one and jelly beans went flying everywhere!
We didn't have a lot of time to play, because we have 9am church, so we hurried to get ready.
It was nice to have church first thing in the morning.
It was refreshing to get away from the commercialism of Easter and think about the true meaning of Easter.

After church we came home and put Ty down for a little nap.
After his nap we headed over to Jen and John's house for Easter dinner.
It was so nice of Jen to invite Gretch and I over with our families.
We had so much fun eating yummy dinner, easter egg hunt in the cold, frosting cookies, and skyping my Mom and Dad!
{He found some Jelly beans and thought he was pretty cool}
{The hunt...it was pretty cold, so we were rushed}

Cute little cousins
{Abbie. Ty. Cam. Brynn. Whitney. Sadie. Connor. Carly}
I love these boys!
{Ty thought it was funny to just stand out in the rain...then Carly joined in on the fun}

{Haylee. Amber. Heidi. Whitney. Mel. Jen. Gretchen. Lexie. Grandma}

{Just some of our cookie creations...don't you love Mel's upside down bunny turned into a tooth with a cavity?}
{We ended the night with some good kisses for Daddy.}
Happy Easter everyone!
Hope you had fun like we did!
