Memories of nobody

Today happens to be the last day of Week 9, 3 days before the IHE Exam. Before anything, I'm sure I've pissed a lot of people off by talking incessantly about the Gamefest that's being held at Suntec this weekend.

Click here to find out more.

It's just... MapleStory was honestly the 1st MMO I've ever played in my life, and it's really a shocking experience to see that it's gone so far under the stead of the newest developments.

Okay, so on with my opinions on something else. A rhetoric question: would it be right to occupy the aisle seat, leaving the inside seat blank, when the people are standing together like sardines in a tin? I was really pissed off, not for myself, but rather for the old man standing behind me: although he wasn't really "old" per se, he was still a senior citizen, and he looked weary, barely able to keep his balance holding the plastic bags of groceries. Should the woman have just moved aside, or even INSIDE, to let him take a seat, instead of sleeping? It's not asking her to GIVE UP her seat.

Really, people have got to be considerate.

That concludes my post for now. And now, to experience MapleStory Episode 2.

THE ANIME LAWS OF PHYSICS

#1 - Law of Metaphysical Irregularity

The normal laws of physics do not apply.

#2 - Law of Differentiated Gravitation

Whenever someone or something jumps, is thrown, or otherwise is rendered airborne, gravity is reduced by a factor of 4.

#3 - Law of Sonic Amplification, First Law of Anime Acoustics

In space, loud sounds, like explosions, are even louder because there is no air to get in the way.

#4 - Law of Constant Thrust, First Law of Anime Motion

In space, constant thrust equals constant velocity.

#5 - Law of Mechanical Mobility, Second Law of Anime Motion

The larger a mechanical device is, the faster it moves. Armored Mecha are the fastest objects known to human science.

#6 - Law of Temporal Variability

Time is not a constant. Time stops for the hero whenever he does something 'cool' or 'impressive'. Time slows down when friends and lovers are being killed and speeds up whenever there is a fight.

#7 - First Law of Temporal Mortality

'Good Guys' and 'Bad Guys' both die in one of two ways - either so quick they don't even see it coming, OR it's a long drawn out affair where the character gains much insight to the workings of society, human existence or why the toast always lands butter side down.

#8 - Second Law of Temporal Mortality

It takes some time for bad guys to die... regardless of physical damage. Even when the 'Bad Guys' are killed so quickly they didn't even see it coming, it takes them a while to realize they are dead. This is attributed to the belief that being evil damages the Reality Lobe of the brain.

#9 - Law of Dramatic Emphasis

Scenes involving extreme amounts of action are depicted with either still frames or black screens with a slash of bright color (usually red or white).

#10 - Law of Dramatic Multiplicity

Scenes that only happen once, for instance, a 'Good Guy' kicks the 'Bad Guy' in the face, are seen at least 3 times from 3 different angles.

#11 - Law of Inherent Combustibility

Everything explodes. Everything.

First Corollary -

Anything that explodes bulges first. Second Corollary -

Large cities are the most explosive substances known to human science. Tokyo in particular seems to be the most unstable of these cities, sometimes referred to as "The Matchstick City".

#12 - Law of Phlogistatic Emission

Nearly all things emit light from fatal wounds.

#13 - Law of Energetic Emission

There is always an energy build up (commonly referred to as an energy 'bulge') before Mecha or space craft weapons fire. Because of the explosive qualities of weapons, it is believed that this is related to the Law of Inherent Combustibility.

#14 - Law of Inverse Lethal Magnitude

The destructive potential of any object/organism is inversely proportional to its mass.

First Corollary -

Small and cute will always overcome big and ugly. Also known as the A-Ko phenomenon.

#15 - Law of Inexhaustibility

No one *EVER* runs out of ammunition. That is of course unless they are cornered, out-numbered, out-classed, and unconscious.

#16 - Law of Inverse Accuracy

The accuracy of a 'Good Guy' when operating any form of fire-arm increases as the difficulty of the shot increases. The accuracy of the 'Bad Guys' when operating fire-arms decreases when the difficulty of the shot decreases. (Also known as the Storm trooper Effect) Example: A 'Good Guy' in a drunken stupor being held upside down from a moving vehicle will always hit, and several battalions of 'Bad Guys' firing on a 'Good Guy' standing alone in the middle of an open field will always miss.

First Corollary -

The more 'Bad Guys' there are, the less likely they will hit anyone or do any real damage. Second Corollary -

Whenever a 'Good Guy' is faced with insurmountable odds, the 'Bad Guys' line up in neat rows, allowing the hero to take them all out with a single burst of automatic fire and then escape. Third Corollary -

Whenever a 'Good Guy' is actually hit by enemy fire, it is in a designated 'Good Guy Area', usually a flesh wound in the shoulder or arm, which restricts the 'Good Guy' from doing anything more strenuous than driving, firing weaponry, using melee weapons, operating heavy machinery, or doing complex martial arts maneuvers.

#17 - Law of Transient Romantic Unreliability

Minmei is a bimbo.

#18 - Law of Hemoglobin Capacity

The human body contains over 12 gallons of blood, sometimes more, under high pressure.

#19 - Law of Demonic Consistency

Demons and other supernatural creatures have at least three eyes, loads of fangs, tend to be yellow-green or brown, but black is not unknown, and can only be hurt bladed weapons.

#20 - Law of Militaristic Unreliability

Huge galaxy-wide armadas, entire armies, and large war machines full of cruel, heartless, bloodthirsty warriors can be stopped and defeated with a single insignificant example of a caring/loving emotion or a song.

First Corollary -
(from Adam Barnes)

Whenever a single war machine (mecha, starship, etc.) goes up against an entire army, the army always loses.

#21 - Law of Tactical Unreliability

Tactical geniuses aren't....

#22 - Law of Inconsequential Undetectability

People never notice the little things... like missing body parts, or wounds the size of Seattle.

#23 - Law of Juvenile Intellectuality

Children are smarter than adults. And almost always twice as annoying.

#24 - Law of Americanthropomorphism

Americans in Anime appear in one of two roles, either as a really nasty skinny 'Bad Guy' or a big stupid 'Good Guy'.

First Corollary -

The only people who are more stupid than the big dumb Americans are the American translators. (Sometimes referred to as the Green Line Effect) Second Corollary -

The only people who are more stupid than the American translators are the American editors and censors.

#25 - Law of Mandibular Proportionality
(from A. Hicks, Tom Williams, and Ben Leinweber)

The size of a person's mouth is directly proportional to the volume at which they are speaking or eating.

#26 - Law of Feline Mutation
(from A. Hicks)

Any half-cat/half-human mutation will invariably:

1) be female
2) will possess ears and sometimes a tail as a genetic mutation
3) wear as little clothing as possible, if any

#27 - Law of Conservation of Firepower
(from Tom Williams)

Any powerful weapon capable of destroying/defeating an opponent in a single shot will invariably be reserved and used only as a last resort.

#28 - Law of Technological User-Benevolence
(from Tom Williams)

The formal training required to operate a spaceship or mecha is inversely proportional to its complexity.

#29 - Law of Melee Luminescence
(from Tom Williams)

Any being displaying extremely high levels of martial arts prowess and/or violent emotions emits light in the form of a glowing aura. This aura is usually blue for 'good guys' and red for 'bad guys'. This is attributed to Good being higher in the electromagnetic spectrum than Evil.

#30 - Law of Non-Anthropomorphic Antagonism
(from Tom Williams)

All ugly, non-humanoid alien races are hostile, and usually hell-bent on destroying humanity for some obscure reason.

#31 - Law of Follicular Chromatic Variability
(from Spellweaver)

Any color in the visible spectrum is considered a natural hair color. This color can change without warning or explanation.

#32 - Law of Follicular Permanence

Hair in anime is pretty much indestructable, and can resist any amount of meteorological conditions, energy emissions, physical abuse, or explosive effects and still look perfect. The only way to hurt someone's hair is the same way you deal with demons... with bladed weapons!

#33 - Law of Topological Aerodynamics, First Law of Anime Aero-Dynamics

*ANY* shape, no matter how convoluted or odd-looking, is automatically aerodynamic.

#34 - Law of Probable Attire
(from various sources)

Clothing in anime follows certain predictable guidelines.

Female characters wear as little clothing as possible, regardless of whether it is socially or meteorologically appropriate. Any female with an excessive amount of clothing will invariably have her clothes ripped to shreds or torn off somehow. If there is no opportunity to tear off the afore-mentioned female's clothes, then she will inexplicably take a shower for no apparent reason (also known as the Gratuitous Shower Scene).

Whenever there is a headwind, Male characters invariably wear a long cloaks that don't hamper movement and billow out dramatically behind them.

First Corollary (Cryo-Adaptability) -

All anime characters are resistant to extremely cold temperatures, and do not need to wear heavy or warm clothing in snow. Second Corollary (Indecent Invulnerability) -
(from Nyctomania)

Bikinis render the wearer invulnerable to any form of damage.

#35 - Law of Musical Omnipotence

Any character capable of musical talent (singing, playing an instrument, etc.) is automatically capable of doing much more "simple" things, like piloting mecha, fighting crime, stopping an intergalactic war, and so on...especially if they have never attempted these things before.

#36 - Law of Quintupular Agglutination
(from Daniel Mikula)

Also called "The Five-man Rule", when "Good Guys" group together, it tends to be in groups of five. There are five basic positions, which are:

1) The Hero/Leader
2) His Girlfriend
3) His Best Friend/Rival
4) A Hulking Brute
5) A Dwarf/Kid Between these basic positions are distributed several attributes, which include:

1) Extreme Coolness
2) Amazing Intelligence
3) Incredible Irritation

#37 - Law of Extradimensional Capacitance
(from Jason Bustard)

All anime females have an extradimensional storage space of variable volume somewhere on their person from which they can instantly retrieve any object at a moment's notice.

First Corollary (a.k.a. The Hammer Rule) -
(from Ferdinand Pelayo)

The most common item stored is a heavy mallet, which can be used with unerring accuracy on any male who deserves it. Other common items include costumes/uniforms, power suits/armor, and large bazookas.

#38 - Law of Hydrostatic Emission

Eyes tend to be rather large in Anime. This is because they contain several gallons of water, which may be instantaneously released at high pressure through large tear ducts. The actual volume of water contained in the eyes is unknown, as there is no evidence to suggest that these reservoirs are actually capable of running out. The reason water tends to collect in the eyes is because Anime characters only have one large sweat gland, which is located at the back of the head. When extremely stressed, embarrassed, or worried, this sweat gland exudes a single but very large drop of sebaceous fluid.

#39 - Law of Inverse Attraction

Success at finding suitable mates is inversely proportionate to how desperately you want to be successful. The more you want, the less you get, and vice versa.

First Corollary -

Unfortunately, this law seems to apply to Otaku in the real world...

#40 - Law of Nasal Sanguination
(from Ryan Pritchard and Jason Aylen)

When sexually aroused, males in Anime don't get erections, they get nosebleeds. No one's sure why this is, though... the current theory suggests that larger eyes means smaller sinuses and thinner sinus tissue (see Law #38 above). Females don't get nosebleeds, but invariably get one heck of a blush along the cheeks and across the nose, suggesting a lot of bloodflow to that region.

#41 - Law of Xylolaceration
(from Lyndon Harris)

Wooden or bamboo swords are just as sharp as metal swords, if not sharper.

#42 - Law of Juvenile Omnipotence
(from Erin Alia)

Always send a boy to do a man's job. He'll get it done in half the time and twice the angst.

#43 - Law of Triscaquadrodecophobia

There is no Law #43.

#44 - Law of Nominative Clamovocation
(from Luiko-Ysabeth and Adrian Hsiah)

The likelihood of success and damage done by a martial arts attack is directly proportional to the volume at which the full name of the attack is announced.

#45 - Law of Uninteruptable Metamorphosis
(from R. A. Hubby)

Regardless of how long or involved the transformation sequence or how many times they've seen it before, any 'Bad Guys' witnessing a mecha/hero/heroine transforming are too stunned to do anything to interrupt it.

#46 - Law of Flimsy Incognition
(from Conrad Knauer)

Simply changing into a costume or wearing a teensy mask can make you utterly unrecognizable to even your closest friends and relatives.

Confrontation

I can think of no better way to start my new life in Singapore without being depressing. Perhaps it is one of my natural thought or emotional processes, if you could take that as an explanation. Emotion is but the interpretation of your hormonal changes with respect to a matter or person. Taking it at face value, of course, there would be no purpose in feeling anger or any other feeling towards anyone or thing. This is termed "detachment". Detached to life, I may be, but I feel anchored by mortality: the knowledge that one would die at any time.

Perhaps this is why I am more human than anyone I know: I try too hard to feel. Even as I type this, I'm thinking of what emotion to conjure. Should I feel happy? Or sad? Or confused? Even confusion itself would be better than just robotically putting finger to keyboard, just typing out line after line of meaningless text.

As the drums of my life thunder on, pushing me towards the precipice of death, I finally understand: I was not made to be me.

---

Life thus far has been kind to me; I hope it will continue to be kind.

---

There is really no meaning in continuing to read the text laid out below unless you're intent on blowing your brains out reading what you know to be a socially-smote taboo.

---

Monday - Une

I always hated Mondays: it implied school. Or was purgatory the right word? The tedium of school life drove into me like a piledriver, driving me to the abyss of sleep - if sleep were described as the inert periods between activity.

The bell tolled in the city square just as the minute hand on my clock shifted infinitesimally, pushing the time to six am. Out the window, I could see the light sifting through the thick cedar trees, bathing my entire bedroom in a warm golden glow. The perfection of the topaz topping my staff showed up even more clearly, light beams diffracting in just the right way to emphasize the different parts of my small bedroom; at the foot of my bed, I had a study table, clean even after the previous night's study. To the right, there was a small floor space, then there was the door; the wall beside it was covered with a bookshelf - all my stuff was on it: weapon, robe, gloves... and books. To a magician, intelligence and knowledge was the most important things. There was a soft crow outside the window; a blue bird was flying towards the newborn sun, its plume shining, outmatching even the glittering sea in beauty. Sighing in content, I allowed myself a couple of minutes of indulgence. I smelt the morning dew, heard the rustling of the grass in the morning breeze, felt the softness of my bed. "Hey, Ben!" The soft tone broke the silence in a melody, reality rising in a crescendo above my lucidity, pulling me towards consciousness. Sitting up, I looked out the window, and an angel smiled back. His eyes stared into mine, the heartbreaking hazel eyes perfecting the expression. Although he was so much more perfect than I was, I felt no jealousy - we were practically brothers, inseparable limbs, and I wouldn't do anything to hurt that relationship.

"Get up, sleepyhead! It's almost seven!" For a moment, I was confused as to why I was awake so early; he was shocked. "You mean... you don't remember...?" Oh crap! For having forgotten about our agreement... "I... I'm sorry!" I felt my heart ache; a tear rolled down my left cheek. Instantly, he had teleported behind me, a cold finger catching my tear. I felt his embrace, saw his right hand on my stomach, his left hand on my cheek. Glancing to the right, I looked at his perfect face - it was a mask of agony, agony that I should cry for that. "It's okay, don't cry..." he murmured, his soft voice singing in my ear. I sighed as he tilted his head slightly, his lips resting against my collarbone. A long moment passed, a frozen moment of perfection, then he abruptly pulled away. "You'd better get dressed," he said, turning and walking out of the door. Immediately, I leapt out of bed to retrieve my robe.

---"

Ten minutes later, we were standing in the courtyard behind the school, ready for another day of magical training. He was again standing behind me, so close that I could feel the coolness radiating from his limbs. His hand brushed against mine, and a piece of paper appeared in it. Trying to be as inconspicuous as possible, I uncrumpled the paper and glanced down. There were just two words: "Ten", and "back". Understanding, I crushed the paper, whispering, "Burning Hand." My hand glowed for a moment, and I unclenched my fist; ashes drifted to the ground. I heard a soft chuckle behind me; I couldn't help but smile as well. "Today, we'll be having a lesson on ice spells. Everyone spread out; leave five feet between each other." The giant courtyard was soon filled with noise and people; somehow, we found our way into a perfect rectangular formation without aid. I suppose in that area we're talented, I smirked internally. "What do we use this much space for?" Someone asked, his voice carrying across the meadow clearly. "Watch."

The sky darkened; icicles fell from the dark clouds, striking the ground with a surprising silence. Where they struck, a field of ice expanded, but it wasn't really a field - just an imaginary circle which froze everything within it. The meadow glittered with whatever little sunlight could stream through the darkness. "It looks kinda like my paradise, sans the lake," his voice murmured. Shocked, I turned; he was standing there. "Aren't you supposed to be five feet away?" I asked through gritted teeth. He grinned. "I don't care." I rolled my eyes. "You somehow have the ability to make me smile even though I'm not in the least bit amused," I said; his face lit up with happiness. "Really?" I nodded, trying to keep my face straight... and failing.

"What's so funny?" The voice was cold, lethal. Instantly, he jumped to my defense. "I was telling him something." The teacher narrowed his eyes. "It would appear you have no need to heed instructions. Demonstrate, then, the spell I have just used." I rolled my eyes. As if that would be a problem... The teacher continued, grinning, "If you can even cast a spell." Everyone laughed. Conversationally, he retorted, "The advantage of being the least liked person in a class is that you tend to practice more. Blizzard." The already overcast sky disappeared entirely, leaving a single gap; the sun shone down on him, lighting the area closest to him. Under his breath, he muttered, "Get out of the way." In the instant I shifted, a freezing spear crashed down, freezing a radius of almost two meters. Everyone gasped. Beams of ice fell down rapidly, glowing like lamps in a dark night... which was what they were. I stepped up behind him. "You didn't tell me," I said, accusingly; he apologized. "Nonetheless, you were amazing," I said, laughing. The teacher was nowhere to be seen - probably went off to hide. "Free period!" a magician said, and everyone dispersed. It was still just past eight in the morning. Again, that perfect piece of eternity.

And again, that shattering melody. "What about now?"

---

The forest was silent as we stepped into it, walking down the rarely-used path. Ancient trees towered over us, muffling the rustling sounds as we stepped on the long-dead leaves. Small beams of sunlight shone through, enough to light the path, but otherwise leaving the forest relatively dim. As we tread down the small path, a serenity that I didn't deserve fell over me, masking my doubts at walking so far into unknown territory. Beside me, he was completely at ease, his arms moving along with his swift steps. I felt clumsy beside his graceful movement, wondering, not for the first time, how he managed to hold himself like this. Although he happened to be one of the least popular people in our class, he was, as far as the girls in the school were concerned, a heart-throb. Probably contributing to his popularity index, I thought, as we walked even further. Around us, light was beginning to fade, the dimness slowly progressing to an oppressing darkness. "How far more?" He shook his head, a slight smile lighting up his face. I felt my breath catch. "Please?" He raised an eyebrow, amused. "Just a little. Hold on, okay?" I bit my lip and stared down at the forest floor, trying not to visualize the unseen canopy and what might be inside.

This was probably why I didn't notice where I was going, until I was knee-deep in cold water. Shocked, I looked around: I was at a lake. Perhaps it would be wrong to call it a lake, for it was hidden deeply in a forest, light barely filtering through. The dimness was not unwelcome, and I felt the throbbing danger fade. Turning, I saw him - he was standing in a patch of light, eyes shut; he looked as if he were bathing in sunlight. Uneasy, I decided what to do next - my robe was wet, but I couldn't possibly take it off; casting a fire spell might end up in disaster. Caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, all I could do was wait... And wait I did. It was nearly ten minutes later that he finally sighed and opened his eyes.

"Shall we take a dip?"

Resurrection

As you can see, I'm back. Nothing to post; I'm doing a survey. Perhaps later.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Sunrise came early today, blazing its way through the blue sky even before it had the chance to let off its dazzling light. There was to be no red glow; the dark clouds had masked it long before its approach. What little light passed through illuminated the small bedroom. The street lights had been turned off at 7:30, and the darkness gave an overall eerie shadow mural on the far wall. Getting out the right side, I stared at the clock on the left wall. 7:45, and the second hand was moving merrily away. Just great. Sitting down on the edge, I tried turning my neck. Slight strain, but it was fine - except I was now looking at the unmade bed. Not messy, by any means, but still stained where it shouldn't have been. Pillow with little crimson drops of blood, bed with drool stains, albeit faint. Groaning, I stood up and reached for the blanket...

And realized, for the first time this morning, that there was really stuff that shouldn't have been there. Acting fast, I folded the blanket the way I always did, laying it in the center - nobody except me went near my bed, at least, not until afternoon. The mess would solve itself soon enough. Cursing at biological functions that had no purpose in existence, I walked calmly towards the toilet, careful not to disturb my slumbering family. Cleaning up as best as I could, I struggled to the basin and brushed my teeth.

What happened later on was perfectly routine, except for the one or two blips that make a day interesting - I'm not sure what, but maybe the birds chirping made me calm down some.

So much to say, and so little time

Irrationality.

This word sums up my month. I've been irrational, my perspectives irrational... Ever since we've taken 2C's classroom, I've felt this... oppressive sensation about it, yet I didn't know why or how it came about - it just felt wrong, so very wrong, to be inside. In there, I feel uncomfortable, not myself; everytime I left, I became more cheerful, more "energetic", so to speak. I didn't realize till last week, but ever since, I've tried my best to not stay in it, least of all alone.

Then there's my life. I've regally screwed it up, taking so many wrong steps, again and again - now, I almost regret having even stepped into HPPS. I've met nice people, and some not so nice; this whole confusion and metacognition thing is wearing me down. I hate the idiot who invented the 16 Habits of Mind and I hate having learnt to reflect. I'd rather live oblivious to my surroundings.

I owe everyone an insight, an insight into how I live and what actually goes on in my head, if anything goes on at all. First of all, I'm stingy - that much, I admit. Forced by my surroundings, I've had to live frugal from young - $1 a day in Primary School is hardly enough to sustain life, much less say to hang out, buy clothes and presents. From young, I haven't had any much enjoyments, and that meant that I lacked social life. My only advantage back then was, ironically, my Chinese - it was a powerful weapon, and yet that weapon was double-edged - with it, I hurt myself, and in ways I didn't even begin to comprehend till last year.

Then there's my ignorance. Upbringing is the process of shaping a human, or so the Chinese believe - I was brought up to respect, to follow decisions without question; almost befitting of the dog star I was born under. I meekly followed, and yet I could still feel what people thought, felt, meant. I could sense the disdain of some of my extended family, how they looked down upon us, for being poor, not as successful... at 11, I could stand no more. I couldn't just be oppressed like that, just follow the will like some little dog... I had to have some independence.

I had no idea what I was missing out when I decided to study hard. In return for getting exceptional results for a term or two, I sacrificed what little friends I had; I sacrificed my entire being, my soul, for that little scrap of revenge. I had an insight into how "mugging" was actually like, working till and through midnight, books sprawled all over my table. All my life, I hadn't studied, and this change was unwelcome. The dawning came less than a year later; towards the end of P6, I suddenly realized how much I was missing out, how little I interacted - not only because of my doings, but because of the background I was born in; the Chinese called this "先天运", meaning "pre-ordained luck". I was fated to end up this way, and this way, I would accept. I had questions, of course, but I suppressed them.

And yet it wasn't enough. Not understanding hurt; in that aspect, I resemble Gabriel Gray. I had to understand, not only what people said, but also what people thought; I wanted back my easy acceptance of inferences, of how I could sense the thoughts of other people. Above all, I needed to understand current affairs. And that was when the Internet kicked in. Wiki was a fantastic source of information - then up and coming, I was one of the first few people who utilized it; not much, but I still did.

Towards the end of PSLE, I had to suffer going to the shop, the shop where my uncle and aunt worked. I was pretty fine there, but something told me of displeasure, told me of some undercurrent of hate. I had no idea how and why, but I was determined to excel, to prove myself. Then I stepped into HCI, and learnt then, how little and insignificant I was. I fell in love with nature, with the greater world, and how every piece fitted in to form the beautiful murals. I was moved by simple things like music, something, anything, that was soothing to my nerves.

But there still lay the problem of excelling - I had to find untouched fields, to find places and directions that nobody in my family had ever tread. I finally decided on current knowledge. I read up on everything I could; every little reference in books, I checked up. I went to the extent of scouring libraries for information on that particular topic. The sprawling web kept going on, with me completing books only once every day; then I had to read a second and third time, to let the book's meaning itself sink in, and not only that of the individual words.

You'll find my inventory of topics interesting - they ranged every subject, from archeology to zoology; I had a little bit of every information embedded in my brain, ready to be recalled and expounded on at any time. I read about the LHC from Dan Brown's books long before the project was announced; I read about the NSA, about their exploits, about TRANSLTR. From then, I gained interest in technology, especially in the programming part - whilst people were immersed in the miracles of Microsoft Word, I was busy trying to understand how every function worked; although I didn't succeed, I still gained a glimpse into the powers of programming, and about the different languages.

Truth be told, programs are hard to write; there are the born writers, and then there are the editors; I fall into the latter category. The only thing I can do with programs is to dissect the code, understand how they worked, and work on it to suit my needs or make it better.

Then the fiasco came; perhaps I was momentarily affected by a mood swing, but I was really unhappy with my life right then, and took a big risk which spiraled into a vicious cycle. Although I came out relatively unharmed, it left a particularly deep scar on me, a scar which I would remember as long as I've lived. Of why, I can only say this:

People who have never lived through it will never understand, never understand the need that pushes us to eat meager amounts for meals, to slog our guts out doing work that makes no sense to others. I can't simply waltz into Vivo with friends to shop, to buy stuff and impress others; I can't even get a girl, both by looks and by monetary possessions. I can't buy little presents, can't.... plenty of things. Nobody will ever understand how I feel unless by miracle, everyone became as poor as me. Meanwhile, people will just stand there, mockingly laughing before carrying on shopping and hanging out with their friends, continuing being "cool". Perhaps that's why I hang out with the "outcasts" - not Tim, Chun and Bralee. By that, I mean people who are hated by the class, discriminated for certain, different reasons.

People who may understand a little more than others.

And yet nobody will ever piece who I truly am, til the day comes where I decide to revenge.

More to come when I have the mood.

Blah blah

Today was an utter waste of time (yet again, much?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI8-tk6FeyA

Warning: Chinese. But nice song.

No, it's not from a modern singer; methinks the 80's or 90's.

Anyway, I was considering going for the chalet, but decided against it. Lots of factors, but one would be time.

I guess.

Hackers

Are split into 3 tiers.

1st tier. The most godly, and least known. They have complete understanding of how programs work, and all their tools are customized to the finest points. Most of them are white-hat hackers - they hack their own organization to find loopholes, and patch them. More often than not, their tools are written by themselves.

2nd tier. Your security consultants and network administrators. They understand the "basics" of every OS, and has a complete mastery in 1.

3rd tier. Your hacker-in-the streets, most common and least respected. These are "hacks" and "glory hounds" out for nothing but glory. Their tools are mostly found off the Net, and they hack just for the taste of how unauthorized access feels like. Because they are not afraid to try out new tools, they unleash things that they don't even fully understand, leading to a data crisis.

Geog.

I am not happy at all.

The test fiasco not enough issit?

My current IH results, including 12 ACE and 4 OP, is 58%.

I only need that 3 more ACE to get a B4.

Does that make sense to anyone?

Perhaps, to you guys out there, it doesn't matter; I'm just a tiny negligible fragment of your life.

To me, however, not getting that ACE which was duly owed to me is spoiling my mood right now. I am very, very unhappy. Not as much sad as angry, though; I'm still capable of rational talk. Except I will shout at the next person who attempts to piss me off.

Watch your backs.

Sick, literally.

Very sweet coffee and 10 biscuits in the mornin' ain't a good idea.

So uh, IS test today, at 10:30. I figured I'd leave at 9:15.

At 9, I went into the loo, and bathed... then I had a horrible stomachache. Nothing new. Sit down at the toilet bowl - diarrhea sets in. After that, when I've cleaned up and got my butt off, like, 1 hour later? 10:15. Great, so I'll just be late and hope YongJS forgives me. Then dizzy spell. Then I got sick, all over the toilet. Cleaning up was HELL.

Great. Just great.

English Paper II will be average-hard.
Lit is crazy.
Chinese Paper II will be average-hard.

Today?

Math paper was full of trick questions, I'll probably get owned.

Science? Bloody hell, I mugged so hard for chem - in the end only 1 page, and full of crap about Bio and Physics.

Lesson? Whatever I mug for doesn't come up in the exams.
