Emily Mc and Michelle - our pastor's wife
there might be more babies than adults..that is usually the case when we get together with friends....

You would almost think that this is Emma, with all that red hair....except Emma was born with a lot less of it :-)

McCaysville Christmas Village

We bundled the girls up on Sat and took them down the meet the Christmas Train as it arrived in McCaysville. They have a little Christmas village and Santa set up for all the people to enjoy before getting back on the train to head back to Blue Ridge..... I saw lots of volunteers out getting this all ready over the past 4 weeks. It's really neat to see all the people of this small town putting so much into it!!! Seems crazy that we have not ridden the Blue Ridge Train yet.....yes we have had 3 years of living here to do it....just never have....but Emma really wants to ride it!!! So maybe we will ride the Easter one that stops in a field where you hunt eggs with the Easter Bunny!

We also saw one of our students, Bekka, in the children's Christmas production at the Blue Ridge Theater! It was great!! Emma, interestingly, didn't mention wanting to be any of the little girls dressed as ballerinas dancing. She wanted to be a character called Dr. Mitchell....Dr. Mitchell was the one that had everyone laughing....Emma wants to be just like her Dad and make people laugh! She has asked me, mommy, what can I say that will be funny.....

HOPE

Listening to the most wonderful song....and want to share it with all who read this. I heard this song at a gathering of my dear girlfriends this morning......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZNFRNcKQoA

We were talking about Hopelessness. I am keenly aware of those around me feeling hopeless this year, who are overwhelmed by it especially at the Holidays...

I asked one of my friends if she was looking forward to the Holidays, and with tears, she said, honestly, no. This is her first Christmas being divorced and her precious 7 year old will be spending the holiday with her dad, because she was with her mom at Thanksgiving.....

And what about those who have lost someone very close to them this year, single moms who are just getting beat up by the hustle and hectic schedules with no support system, those who live too far away to see friends and family, those who have no jobs, those who are trapped by the things that they do have and experience no freedom...

What is HOPELESSNESS? No expectation of that which is desirable, of that which is good and which brings joy.

So what is Hope? It's not a wish or a desire. IT's EXPECTATION of a good thing - of joy, pleasure, of something desirable!

As I think about the circle of people that are dear to me, there is one lady who stands out who has rheumatoid arthritis. It's debilitating. There are days she has to be carried to the bathroom, she can't lift her arms to fix her own hair. She has two teenagers who are in our youth group and she struggles with not being able to do things with them. She once ran marathons and hiked up to Springer several times a week. If anyone knows about Hopelessness it's her. She has said that in her worst moments, when she was ready to give up, that in her desperation, the answer was to cry out the name of JESUS. He IS our Savior after all!

The song says, "
Hallelujah We've been found!.....Jesus.... Halleluiah...light has come....A savior set us free...."

Free from hopelessness, depression, anxiety and whatever else has us bound......

We have been found!

Jesus' "yoke is easy and His burden is light."
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds...ps 147:3
Blessed is the man whose confidence is in the Lord..jer 17:7

When I try to preform...I am not letting God.

My precious friends who are experiencing hopelessness, He is your ENDLESS supply of peace, comfort, and security...

Emma and Clare come to me asking me to kiss their boo boo's sometimes what seems like 100 times a day....I love to comfort them. How much more does our FATHER LOVE it when we come to HIM! He does not tire of us.

Wonder Girls!

Clare to the rescue! They both love to put panties on over their clothes which makes them look like superheros.

So just sitting here getting ready to start work on the work I do from home and decided to blog a little first.  Clare is watching Snoodletale (a veggietales movie) that is wonderful.  I can't wait until she actually understands it.  It's about this little snoodle that is born wondering what he is good at. He tries different things but seems to get them wrong and each time his fellow snoodles paint pictures of him that make him feel stupid or no good.    So he leaves and eventually finds a snoodle who represents God - this snoodles sees him the way that He made him with all the amazing gifts that he has given him and paints a new picture!  So sweet!
Now the movie is over and clare brought me a tiny teddybear sweater that she wants me to put on her.  We love her personality. She snuck into Emma's room yesterday, when Emma was taking a nap, knowing she's not supposed to go in.  She heard me coming and ran out and closed the door, looking all innocent in the hallway.  She just always wants to be with her sister.  Clare especially misses her sister when Emma is at school, which is where Emma is now.
Well, better get to work....

Youth Lock-In 2008

We decided to let Emma stay for her first Lock-In and she had such a great time. She watched movies, played arcade games, basketball, and did the dance-off with the rest of the students!! She made it until about 1 o'clock. She finally passed out after watching The Nativity Story ( a really wonderful movie.) I carried her up stairs through the arcade with lots of noise and she didn't budge. She was out.
Hannah, one of the youth volunteers!!!!!
Everyone Kill Chad!
The lock-In was at the Powerhouse in Blue Ridge. It was great because there was a huge TV for games, an arcade, a gym and basketball court, plus a big movie screen!!!
We had a baloney-flake contest. You know how you fold up paper and use scissors to cut out designs. When you unfold the paper you have snowflakes. This contest used balony and teeth instead of scissors. So funny to watch!! Below is Josiah admiring his baloneyflake!
Emma does not know what to think about this :-)
This game was called sleeping bag straight jacket. They had to get out of the sleeping bag with their hands in their pockets. Then the leaders had to do it!

Towards the end of the lock-in, there were people trying to sleep everywhere! (In cabinets, on pool tables, on stairs, standing up.... )

I intended to take both girls home, but because the other female chaperons were either sick or could not stay at the last minute, I ended up needing to stay. So, Clare stayed with the Romano's and had a peaceful night of sleep. And I am so glad that I got to stay the whole night. No-one actually slept (even though they tried to) with so much to do at the Powerhouse, including Doug and I. It will take us a few days to catch-up....it's been a while since we have pulled and an all-nighter :-) We both think it was worth it!
