Using Leftovers From A Kit

When we buy a kit there is always leftovers, do you leave them sitting on your desk or in a cupboard because you are not sure what to do with them?

Recently I got to work with a gorgeous kit from Shop and Crop Scrapbooking. With this kit I created a mixed media canvas, click here to see my tutorial on how I created it.

I had so much chipboard and cardstock leftover that I needed to create some more with it. I still have plenty left over after I created a couple of cards, below are a couple of close ups to see the whole cards and tutorial please visit the Shop and Crop Scrapbooking Blog.

Once Upon A Time - Echo Park

For Shop and Crop Scrapbooking this week I got to play with the girly collection Once Upon A Time from Echo Park.

This was a really hard collection to use as I hadn't used something like this before. It had lots of yummy papers but also a huge range of stickers and chipboard accents. I really had to think about what I wanted to create. In the end I create a photo frame and a set of three cards.

Below you will find close ups of one of the cards and the frame. If you would like to see them in their entirety and the other two cards please pop on over the Shop and Crop Scrapbooking blog.

Using Your Scraps

We all have lots of scraps laying around and we always say to ourselves we will use them, but more often than not that doesn't happen. In my package from Shop and Crop Scrapbooking I received the March 2017 Crop Kit. It is Easter themed and I decided to create some cards from this kit. They are not all Easter based but they all can be created using kit and still have paper and embellishments left over for more.

It's A Boy

For my second play this month for Shop and Crop Scrapbooking I got to create with the collection 'It's a Boy' from Carta Bella.

I really enjoy using this colour scheme and I had the perfect photo of my little man with the same colour on the wrap that he was laying on. I think this would have to be the least amount of mixed media that I have ever used on a layout but the papers said it all.

I couldn't just stop at a layout I had to create some cards as well.

The stencil that I used in the back ground is also available in the shop I think this was my very first stencil and the start of a very, very unhealthy addiction.

The papers that I have used can be found in the shop and some of them are on sale. If you do decide that you need to visit the shop please use the code DO5 and you will receive a discount.

Rusty Gears

The Rust Effect Paste trio by Prima Marketing have been my stash for a little while, but it wasn't until I went on retreat last month that I actually played with it. It was a lot of fun to play with.

In using up some of the gelli plate prints that I created in June last year I made a background that I really, really didn't want to cover up. I just loved all the texture and colours that I was able to achieve.

A brain wave hit, I could use gears because they had holes in them, even though I wasn't going to cover the whole background you would be able to see through the gears.

So now not only do I have yummy texture on the background but also on the gears thanks to the texture paste.

products used: cogs from my stash, art extravagance rust effect paste - gold rust, brown rust & red rust, art extravagance texture paste - graphite, dylusion paints - vibrant turquoise, fresh lime and lemon zest, gelli arts printing plate, the crafter workshop stencil mini corncob etching, kaisercraft mini alpha stickers - chocolate & white, stabilo all - black, faber-castell pitt artist pen big brush - nougat, derivan matisse flow - raw umber, golden mediums - acrylic glazing liquid gloss, mixed media paper, art basics 3d gloss gel - transparent.

Lately I have been in the I want to create but the mojo is missing, so this morning I was asked to create a sympathy card. I decided to keep it nice and simple.

Kraft+, Black and White

There are times when you cannot go past a challenge and the new challenge at Kraft+ is one of those times. Kraft+ have a different challenge each month but there is one criteria that must be followed each and every single time, your design must be created on a kraft base.

The challenge is Black & White, this month there is also a kraft board to help with the inspiration.

When I first looked at the kraft board what caught my eye were the polka dots. I didn't use polka dots but they did give me my starting point. The circles also caught my eye and I just love circles.

I couldn't just stop at one card for this challenge I had to create two.

Products used: kraft, dylusions paint - black, die cut circles, kaisercraft wooden flourish guitar, distress paint - black soot, faber-castell big brush pen - black, gelly roll - white, stampin' up - stars framelits dies and dusty attic stencil - criss cross.

Just Add Aqua Cotton

Because I was having so much fun playing with my stamps and was not sure what I wanted to create for the April challenge at Show Us Your Stuff I created a set of three cards. Now these three cards are the same but different. Have I confused you, let me show you what I mean.

I started out making my atc (artist trading card) size rectangle which I then coloured, stamped, heat embossed and then stuck my embellishments to. The other element which makes them the same is that I have only used one colour of ink - soft suede. It is amazing how many browns you can get from just one ink pad.

Products used: Ink - Soft Suede, Stamps - Gorgeous Grunge, Summer Silhouettes, Timeless Textures and Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Dies - Butterflies Thinlits and Bold Butterfly Framelits, Cardstock - Whisper White, Vellum - Botanical Gardens Designer Stack, Corrugated Paper - Kraft, Sequins - In Colour assortment, Emboss Powder - White, Versamark, Sepciality Designer Series Paper - Typeset, Cotton - Aqua

If you have any question about any of the products I have use please either leave a comment on my post or email me at deeseldee@hotmail.

To Me You Are Perfect

The challenge this month at Show Us Your Stuff is a all about words. Specifically the quote "To Me You Are Perfect". Please remember to visit the blog by clicking on the link above to see what the other designers created.

When I first saw the quote I wasn't to sure how I was going to use it but the hearts and colours were  talking to me. So I decided to incorporate them into my design and they were my starting point.

My handmade embellishments are Chevie Borders from Burdy's Embellies, I hand colour and punched out the hearts and I cut the banner and wrote the wording. I have to confess the banner was a scrap piece of paper that was left after I cut down a card base to size and I was just practising my lettering, but I like it a lot so I decided to use it.

Products used: watercolour paper, mixed media paper, faber-castell pitt pens, ecoline liquid watercolour.
