Movies + Olympics
Tuesday, August 26, 2008
Watched 2 Japanese movies with sis last and this week. Murder of the Inugami clan was old school style, the typical Kindaiichi movie with the murderer lurking somewhere near you. Cyborg girl was good, very good until the earthquake which spoils it all. Time travel: I can accept, Earthquake that destroy the whole of Tokyo: Unbelievable! (my sister says a quake of such a scale is possible, is that so Marilyn?)
Anyway, Beijing Olympics has official ended so it's the end of me chasing after the different events everyday. This is the first time I watched so many events in one Olympic! London's logo is really not my taste and not the taste of many out there either 'cause I remembered I heard news in 2007 that even the mayor then felt that it was a waste of 400,000 pounds creating that. It's sad isn't it.

Pole Vault
Tuesday, August 19, 2008
Monday's best Olympics competition for me was the pole vault (w) finals. Yelena Isinbaeva really proved to be 打遍天下无敌手 or in a class of her own as how the commentator put it. 5.05m is not easy feat! Wah! So high ah~

School yesterday was draining. Had meeting with my group assignment mates till 6+pm. But, we finally got our foot on the right track.
Speaking of track, going to run later with Fang Lin.
Oh, Liu Xiang dropped out from his 110m race. It was such a waste even though he sure looked in pain. IMO, the Chinese must have forced him to run 'cause he
is was China's best bet for Gold in Athletics but he just couldn't take it and dropped out.

Olympics games

Watched quite a handful of different sports yesterday and today. Lemme see, I caught the 20km walk(m), javelin (w), short put(w),
pole vault(w), long jump(m), 100m (m),
discus throw (m), 400m hurdles (m), diving (w) and the different gold matches for swimming.
All eyes were on Bolt and Phelps without doubt. Bolt proved that he really is the fastest man on earth with his new WR. And he didn't put in his 100%, he sort of relaxed before reaching the line and still he won. Phelps got his 8th gold medal and the IOC even gave him something to recognise him as the greatest Olympian in history.
It was an amazing 2 days to watch. The gold medal match between Singapore and China is tonight! China is a tough competitor to beat.

Ping pong
Saturday, August 16, 2008
My GP teacher used to say that the use of "Ping Pong" is wrong! It's "table tennis". Yeah.... But then there's the Ping Pong Diplomacy. It's Ping Pong Diplomacy not Table Tennis Diplomacy ya know. She used to make fun of the words Ping Pong and how students write them in their essays.
Anyway, Singapore won against ROK! Finally a medal and our flag will be raised while our girls stand at podium. SO... FENG T.W is the raising star to succeed LI J.W?
I was tempted to buy Wanbao today 'cause headlines was Jade Seah and the F-word on LIVE broadcast for Today in Beijing (CH5). Wah! On national LIVE TV you know! It's not editable! LOL. Thought it might be a humorous read. Didn't buy the newspaper at the end 'cause the rational side of me told me "Wanbao is all gossips, it's such a total waste of money." HAHA... even though I was quite KPO but I didn't buy the paper for this news.
On other news, reporters seem to be finding all faults they can about the opening ceremony which I thought is still good despite the negative news about the lip-sync, fireworks and the 56 ethnic children. It's like if given me, I will also wish to portray the best image

One World One Dream

The opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics was fantastic. 能做到那种地步真的佷了不起! 有佷多令我感激的画面喔! It's was a good beginning for the Beijing Olympics! I truly loved the scene where they lifted the Olympic rings up into mid air. It was stunning! It's like art.

The NDP parade this year was so-so. Last year was better, the theme song too had more spirit. The fireworks weren't so nicely done like the ones in Beijing but hey, we only prepared for less than a year while Beijing prepared so long for the Olympics!

I liked the HEART that the Black Knights created though. It's pretty.
Happy National Day
SINGAPORE! She's 43! Such a young country we are. Many new possibilities awaits. =)

Sports
Tuesday, August 05, 2008
I finally did sports today after so long! I ran 2km in the morning since I finally bought a new pair of sports shoes with Derrick on Sunday. It's been half a year since I last ran! But luckily I took 14.2min to complete it, not so demoralizing! Shall continue to run from now onwards to keep myself healthy! Met my SIM friends and went swimming at Winda's condo. It's near my house so I need not travel so far. But, it has been a freaking long time since I last swam (like 3-4 years?)! Nearly forgotten how to swim too. Slacked at her house and played board games. These games are really more fun with dares.
We have not been going to Joo's house to play Monopoly! But since their school has started, I doubt they are free anyway. They have not settle down etc. I myself am also tied with my Accounts Exam which is happening next week!
NDP & Beijing Olympics are coming! I wanna watch many events... sync. swimming, cycling, 100m etc!

The Daily Scoop
Monday, August 04, 2008
Went to The Daily Scoop for ice cream after group assignment discussion. The sun was just too scorching! Totally needed an umbrella for shade! Must remember to bring it next time.
Thanks Curina for bringing Regina and I there. The place is really ulu! Totally feels like we have reached some small town. We even saw this rusty bridge like it's from the 60s on our way there. The place is small. Can sit about 20+ people at most.
TDS sure has lots of weird flavours to their name. Spicy chocolate, Unusually Apple etc ... I took Salty Mr Brown. The counter person said that it's made from sea salt(AKA common salt... think I don't know want to cheat me. LOL) blah blah blah....so yah, it's salty but it's unique enuff. Costs $3.20+- for 1 scope. Took the waffle ice-cream @ $5.50. =)

STUDY + EAT

I changed the skin due to a glitch. It can't work with IE anymore.
Handed in my first assignment in my university life. Had to be more consistent now 'cause everything I do is counted towards my final grade. Uni's really different from JC. In JC, all you have to do is to do well at A levels, nothing is more important than how you write for you A level paper. In Uni, everything is counted for (it's the same story with poly yeah). Guidance is minimum so you have to figure many things out yourself. The deadline is the deadline, there's no extension unlike in JC/secondary sch where almost everything can be extended. However, it seems that everybody is discipline enough to conscientiously finish their work. Sure, everybody have fun but we do work. It's really a different level of maturity.
It seems like my uni friends are more into finding new places to eat unlike DJMXS where we are always eating at the same places. It sure is cool to eat at those cosy places.
