to sweat or not to sweat?!

the small stuff... that is... i'm turning into a very short-tempered human being.. is it because of people around me who do a 180degree change?? is it because of irritating companies who don't bother about customer service or what they sell/provide?

seriously i don't know what is happening these days.. is it just me or is it the world!!!

goodnight world... hello God....

Skim milk...

Excerpt from Senior's newsletter Aug 08.

To help a friend lose weight, I told her she should switch to lower fat foods, including skim milk. When she said her family would only drink whole milk, I suggested that she keep their regular container and refill with skim milk. This worked for awhile, until her daughter asked one morning, whether the milk was ok. "Sure it's fine" my friend answered, fearing she has been found out. "Why do you ask?"

"Because according to this bottle" the daughter explained, "this milk's use by date expired two years ago"..

Life in Outback Australia...

I've been really quiet because I'm just looking for a career, a job, something to feed myself... but also engaging myself in various activities..

We had an awsome time in dalby (8 of us frank, yukie, justina, hilton, keegan, jacqueline, barry palmer and myself, plus justina's parents Trevor and Lyn and sister Fiona).

Saturday was good we had a farm tour, trevor explained to us and let us sit in the tractor and have a go, we looked at their dam and how it worked, and also went to collect wood for a bonfire. Dinner was awsome (lyn's a good cook with veges and potato bake) and a traditional barbie. Unfortunately, there was 3 storm systems and we were in the middle of them. 1 storm came and flattened 2out of 3 tents (the girls and hilton's tent was totally destroyed) but the guy's tents were still alright. Everyone except keegan chose to sleep in the house while keegan took the tent that was not battered. The other 3guys (me included) slept in the lounge room... We managed to light the bonfire after the storm passed, using some gasoline.

it was truely outback living and we appreciated how farmers like trevor slogs out in the farm. we'll never appreciate the power of nature and how awsome God's power is when it is manifested in the elements we've experienced outback. The storms, the heat, the humidity, the rain.. everything...

I came back from dalby and arrived on the coast about 5.30pm, we missed the storm on the Gold Coast, which was good.. Luckily I came back home instead of staying in Ipswich with my friend...

Check out the photos here.

We have moved...

Southport Church of Christ has officially moved out of its parklands site into a "de-centralised" church. Church office is near HarbourTown (Biggera Waters), Ladies bible study @ Ashmore Uniting Church, Seniors Group @ Southport Baptist Church, just to name a few, and others at our new temporary facilities in QAHS, opposite the new Griffith University Village Student Accomodation (not to be confused with the Olsen Ave UniVillage accomodation.

Tremendous opportunity to outreach now we're in the heart of Uni.. Yes there's some inconveniences (eg, International Students Bible Study Group not having a kitchen to cook lunch on Sundays) but we have coped well by having lunches @ various church attendee's homes. Which is such a blessing as we are able to now get to know other church members even more personally.

Why go to church?

I've received an email from a mentor of mine... think it makes much sense.. to those Christians who are having second thoughts about going to church, especially those whom come overseas and think you can slack in going to church for whatever reason, just stop and ponder..

Why go to Church? ( This is good )

If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this
If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it
If you're spiritually curious, then there is still hope !

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday.

'I've gone for 30 years now,' he wrote, 'and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.'

This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column, much to the delight of the editor.

It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher :

“ I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals.. But I do know this : They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today! ”

When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something.

Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible.

Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment.

we all need a kick in the butt sometimes to bring us back to Pa and his love.. I just had a bible study lesson on sunday about God and his mystery, and learnt that is it no more a mystery, as it was revealed in different parts of the bible.. so christians, read on and persevere the race which is set out for us to run.. just like our predecessors...

Graduation 2008

it's been one roller coaster ride for me the past year... heaps of new stuff to learn.. not that i hate it, it was awesome...

check out my Masters graduation pictures on the link on my right hand side bar...

never could figure out which side the tassel is on... some say right, some say left, and the stupid uni graduation website doesn't state the correct position...

anyways, after graduation i should be very free right?!! NOT!!!! so don't expect more frequent updates from me... there's heaps of job applications to fill in.. the "REAL WORLD" suddenly seems so scary after all... am i gonna join the rat race like every boring graduate in this world?

on a lighter note, last sunday was Southport COC's last service at the current venue. Come this sunday(today), we have officially moved to the Queensland Academies of Health Sciences... some weird spelling.. "academies"... wonder why?!! change, everyone hates change, but it's being embraced quite well in my opinion..

Anyways, gotta to wash the dishes... More updates soon...
