Why Do You Have to Be a Vegetarian

This evening we went to the BYU Baseball Game and on the way to the game, Reese asked me if we could get a treat.  I said no, that we would probably get a hot dog for dinner instead.  Reese immediately got mad and yelled "Why do you have to be a vegetarian", "You never let us have candy."  I asked her what being a vegetarian means and she said its a mean Mom that won't allow them to have candy.  Dave and I got a good laugh which made Reese all the more upset.  We love our sassy Reese.

Christ's Picture

There is a picture outside of our laundry room where I frequent more often than I would like.  When you exit this laundry room, you come face to face with a picture of Christ.  It's from the chest up and He is in a Red robe.  I often look at this painting after a long day and seem to have a little interaction with my Savior.  On days where I feel like its going well, I see a smile on His face.  On days where I know I could have been more patient and loving, I see a look that says "You can Do Better, I expect better." On days that I am struggling, overwhelmed and sad, I see a face that says "Its ok, you are doing the best you can."  Some days I just chuckle with the picture, its been a crazy day and I can just imagine my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ finding my day a little amusing.  I wonder what my interview will be like with my Savior on he last day, I guess I am just practicing on a day to day basis.

Hugging or Hurting

Today Krew and I went to Spanish Fork to watch Camden play baseball.  There was a great park right next to the field.  I was so glad that Krew would have a fun time and I could watch the game.   Every once in a while I would go check on Krew and see how he was doing.  At one point he looked sad so I went over there to see what was going on.  He told me one of the boys at the playground was being mean, I asked him to show me which one and so he pointed.  I went over to the boy and in my nice mama bear voice told him that there was a very important rule at the playground,  its that you have to be nice to everyone and if you can't then you just can't play there.  He looked ant me and then just ran off.  A few minutes later I was watching Camden bat and then looked and found Krew being pushed down by this boy.  Obviously this boy was not scared of me or following the play ground rules.  I hurried over there, but before I got there this boy had Krew in a headlock from behind.  Before I could get to them, I heard Knew say "Are you hugging me or hurting me."  It was very clear he was hurting him.  Knew was big enough to push him off, I was wishing he would defend himself.  By the time I got to them, I pulled the boy off and told Krew he was coming with me.  He told me he still wanted to play, I told him the boy was hurting him, Krew said no, He was hugging me. I said red marks around the next is not a hug.  I picked Krew up and headed back to my chair.  I guess while I was mad and upset about the situation, I could be more like to Krew and think better of people.

Crazy Hair Day at Ivy Hall

Today was crazy hair day. Emery has been anxiously waiting. This morning she and I were coming up with a plan. Went with a pattern of braids and ratting. When it was Reese's turn, she said "I wish it was never crazy hair day." I didn't want her to have regrets when she got to school and other kids had crazy hair, so I talked her into two bows on one side. She seemed satisfied.

Grocery Shopping With Krew

One of the things I love most is go grocery shopping with Krew. He gets really into it and I love to hear all of his vocabulary words. When we go to get the cart, he gets really excited when we get the car grocery cart. Not a big fan myself, he spends the first five minutes in it and the rest of the time climbing on top of it. As I was checking out and putting all the groceries up on the counter, I looked into the car portion of the cart and saw a half eaten apple. I guess somewhere along our grocery shopping experience, Krew grabbed an apple and decided to just go ahead and eat it. The lady was really nice about it and weighted the apple even though half of it was gone.

Rad Kid Graduation

Went to Gracy's Rad Kid graduation today. This is of course the kids take to learn self-defense against an attacker. They learn what to do in stressful situations and how to respond. Gracy takes this very seriously. At the end they are tested by having a guy in a full on padded suit try to grab them, they have to use their skills they have learned to get away.

Poem by Emery

Poem by Emery (written during sacrament meeting):
Blonde is my hair. Blue are my eyes. I'm seven years old and just the right size. My name is Emery and as you can see I'm very happy to be me.

Halloween 2015

Halloween was a success!!! Between Halloween parties, CMS Halloween party, and school Halloween activities, the kids had lots of reasons to dress up. Kenzi was a goth girl, Camden was a 70's basketball player, Gracie was a crazy BYU fan, Emery was a rockstar, Reese was a princess, and Krew was Nacho Libre. As you can imagine Krew was a hit! The Baugh's had J dogs for dinner in the neighborhood, right before Halloween and then all the kids took off to trick-or-treat. Kenzi hung out with friends the whole night, Camden had a party here at our house, Gracy took off with all of her friends. That left Dave and I and grandma and grandpa Decker to take the three little ones. They had a lot of fun and Krew caught on quickly.

CMS Halloween Party

Tonight was the CMS Halloween party. We sure missed Heather Hall and all of her planning she did in the past for the parties. The kids had fun going office to office getting candy and then heading downstairs for pizza and donuts.

Babysitting

Dave and I had to go to Riverside last night while Dave was put on the board for Riverside Country Club. It lasted longer than we thought and who knew what was going on at the house with Camden in charge. With Kenzi having mono and Camden having his hands full, this was the text we got from Gracy:
"Dad this is Gracy texting on my iPad Camden has been so mean and I always brush my teeth before I go to bed and he gave me a hard Indian burn"
Camden didn't deny it
