"Quilts and flowers"

Yesterday I met my mum for a lovely lunch in Echuca and then we visited an interesting quilt exhibition. The exhibition was inside a church, and every quilt on show had a floral arrangement which has been especially designed and created to complement the quilt. Mum and I both had a quilt on show.

Father's Day

It has beeen a very big year so far, and it has taken me awhile to get my head around things. Last October my beloved father was diagnosed with a liver cancer, he had had a bout of bowel cancer 9 years ago and this was related to that. We were gutted, but decided to pull together and take this "One day at a time". Sadly, this was a fight that only had one outome and Dad left us on April 26th - 6 days after his 81st birthday and the day after ANZAC day. Mum tended to him like an angel until things became too big for us all. Mum and I were with him as he peacefully slipped away, and now he is out of pain. Yesterday, was my first Father's Day without him. I took him some flowers, and then had a walk around his beautiful garden and remembered him.

January 2012 - some achievements

It's the end of the summer holidays and whilst I have been busy with family stuff I have achieved a little bit on the sewing front.

"Dear Jane" has continued to grow.....

I have finally finished a little challenge - a group of us have a weekend away every year and every year we each take home a piece of fabric with the challenge to make something out of it before the next weekend away. I failed miserably with the timeline for this challenge, but it is finally finished!

A block roll - it actually didn't take much effort once I made my mind up.

and my greatest acheivement of the summer was getting my two boys, and their current loves, to sit down together for a meal. It happens very rarely.

and if you peek through the grapevines you will see my second son's true love - his wakeboarding boat. Lots of summer hours out at the lake for him and his mates.

Spot the difference - my "Dear Jane" quilt

What I have been doing.... photos were taken four days apart - can you notice any changes???

Dodgy photos, Iknow, but my phone was all I had.

The yellow bits are post-it notes so I know what block I need to find and get completed. There is definately less yellow in the second photo.

Wonky stars

Stars in bright colors for a friend....

I think these "fit the bill".
