December 2011

His notebook of all the things he wants to ask Santa for Christmas

A game at the ward party where you try to move a cracker down your face without using your hands (just facial expressions).

I wish I could remember exactly what this "thing" was that he invented. I think he said it was some sort of rocket ship. Ummmm.....basically it is an old bottle of medicine (empty) that he uses to charge a rocket (a tampon Ü). His imagination is so hilarious!

Love this picture above

Nathan's home teaching companion made us "lumps of coal" to eat. Rice Krispies with black food coloring. Let's just say our tongues weren't the only things that were black, but we didn't find out about the other until the next day ;)

Overheard

Overheard while Deacon was....

....jumping up and down and splashing in the bathtub and talking to himself: "I want to WALK on water, not SINK on water!!!"

...on the toilet going #2: "Sometimes I have to go poop so bad, it is terrifying."

...while I was making ornaments: "That is GLORIOUS, mom"

...fingering my wrapping paper rolls: "Mom, when Addy helps you wrap my present, I'm gonna spy on you to see what it is!" Then I said, "You better not." So he said, "Well....do it in the morning. I just might spy. I just might."

....while talking to Adelaide, "Hey you wanna play Baby Jesus again in your room? You be the mom!" Addy, "yah!" (p.s. I had to see how this played out so I poked my head in and Deacon was the actual baby. hahaha he was cooing and gaaaing and Addy looked thrilled!)

...while scowling at Addy, "She is DIS-qualified! No more playing with my toys!"

...while punching wildly at the air with his fists, "I'm fighting the bacteria!"
(He had just noticed all the dust particles that are in the air and visible when the light streams through a window. He was punching them and spitting at them but they wouldn't go away).

Star Wars Candy

Deacon asked Nathan, "Can I have some more Star Wars candy, dad?"

And Nathan was like, "Huh?? What are you talking about?"

Deacon said, "Earlier....you gave me light saber candy."

Nate: "Oh! You mean Life Savers candy."

So funny.

O Christmas Tree

I'm sitting here doing homework at the computer and Deacon is in his room singing to himself (very loudly Ü). "O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, how lovely branches aaaaa---re."

Pretty good for only hearing it on the radio once this morning! After I went down and complemented him he started singing even louder and then told me to listen while he "sang it in Spanish"....after which he just started singing "la, la-la-la, la, la-la-la" to the same tune ;)

Then he started singing, "O Halloween tree, O Halloween tree, how scary are your bones" and finally, "O Thanksgiving, O Thanksgiving...(something inaudible)"

He is very creative!

October 2011

Deacon caught a teeny baby lizard.

The lizard ran out of his hands and passed TEN FEET away from Addy but she took off scared.

Nate's mom pulled his OLD train set out of her garage.
Nate and Deacon set it up but it didn't work anymore :(

New church shoes below. I told him to try them on and then he kept running around in them with no clothes on.

He TOTALLY invented his own 'Super Why' outfit out of some green sweats, blue underwear, a t-shirt turned inside out, and a pillow case for a cape. Not bad for doing it on his own!

Bat man at the ward party. Gma Jo made the shirt and pants with no patten! I made the batman symbol out of felt and stitched it on the shirt.

After he made this mask in preschool, he decided he didn't want to be batman anymore. So for Halloween night he was a skeleton.

Such a Good Daddy

Deacon loves to have me safety pin his spiderman pillowcase around his neck like a cape.
When it is not being used for that, it makes a perfect baby carrier cover:

Such a good super hero daddy!
